Brilliant - with a couple of drawbacks – Numeric keypad is not full size and I'm used to working with numbers and not having to look at the keypad; my muscle memory doesn't work on the smaller, less spaced arrangement - I didn't notice this when I bought it though so my mistake No bluetooth - also didn't notice this when I bought it It could do with a backlit keyboard to make it more… Read more

user friendly in low light

Having said the above I've been extemely satisfied with the performance of this laptop. I've had it for 3 years now and no problems. My mousepad isn't working well but I dropped something very heavy on it by mistake - ooops!

Overall this is a great laptop and I would recommend it but would be sure to advise of the lack of bluetooth

Very Good – Its a great laptop, very easy to set up and use for non technical people! I have had a lot of trouble with previous laptops overheating, no issues at all with this one. I also like that it has a full keyboard. Its excellent for my purposes and would recommend.

It was good for a year, and then the problems were endless – This laptop was good for the first year of its life. It performed well for my school work and I could play games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Medium to High Settings, and usually around 25-30 FPS. I was actually quite pleased with it, and had it continued to operate like this I would have given it a much… Read more

higher rating.

After one year (right after the warranty ended, mind you), I encountered a series of problems. At first, I lost sound completely. After reinstalling driver after driver and programs that could 'fix' it, I gave up and refreshed my computer. This fixed the sound problem, and my laptop was as its original state.

Unfortunately, this calm only lasted a few weeks before I encountered a whole storm of problems that have not been fixed. These problems include:

1. A faulty monitor that constantly flickers at the tiniest of movements. I have to use it at my desk all the time which prevents me from using it on my lap if I am in bed or in a car/bus.

2. The laptop will randomly turn on and off. Sometimes, while I am in class my laptop will turn on in my case without being touched. Other times while I am playing video games, it will switch off for no reason. Like before, this is without being touched.

3. An unresponsive keyboard that prevents me from doing schoolwork. I was forced to buy a cheap, plug-in keyboard as multiple keys (including every number, the backspace key and multiple letters) ceased to work.

4. Possibly the most annoying of all these problems, is that screws would begin to come loose and fall out. Often this would be at school while I was using it, resulting in me never finding them again and having loose pieces of plastic flailing about. This also caused my battery to come loose, and so I had to use tape to hold it in place.

Please note that my laptop has never received any significant trauma, in fact the only time it has been dropped was when it slipped off a desk onto a chair, a meager 10-11 centimeter drop. This was about three months in from owning the laptop and no problems arose after it fell so it can't possibly have been this.

Please be very wary of buying from Asus, I am certain that I never will again. This is a disgusting excuse for a laptop, and I feel terrible about the money that was wasted in buying this piece of crap.

Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish – Purchased from Dick Smith, last time I purchase anything from these guys. I initially upgraded the OS to windows 8.1 pro. 4 weeks for hell later I was able to upgrade device drivers and get the machine stable. I'm reluctant to upgrade RAM as pouring good money after bad isn't my thing. What a nightmare of a machine

Not Happy – Ive found this notebook good only for office and surfing other than that i would not recommend it for any gaming i spent $1000 buying it and cant believe other family members with cheaper laptops have better specs i cant even play a 6 yo game coz its only got a 32M card not 64 feeling really ripped of at the moment

A bit disappointing – Got this for $720 in a Dick Smith online sale. Has an i5 so seemed an ok price. Laptop is quiet, boots pretty quick once you've laboriously removed all the Windows 8 junk. (Can't blame ASUS for the windows debacle.) But. The mouse is diabolically poor. Won't stay still if resting finger on it, for instance while using a down arrow to scroll… Read more

through something on google books or scribd. No mouse buttons, just this creaky panel at the bottom of the mouse pad, which i reckon will last about a week. the panel/button bit doesn't trigger reliably or sometimes at all: you get left click or right click or neither depending on where you are. Feels extremely cheap, which is a surprise as the keyboard feels good. I do a lot of cutting and pasting from different docs (lots of editing work) so this is a big deal for me.

Might be a sign that the touchscreen version is the way to go, though you're then locked into using the apps page. And that doesn't help with cutting and pasting stuff.

Had a Lenovo before this. It felt better straight out of the box and lasted well during three years of industrial usage and travel. Keyboard feel is good, comparatively light, fairly quick boot Terrible mouse, keyboard not correctly set up out of the box (@ key not above the 2 as marked on keyboard had to randomly hunt for it)

The worst laptop I've ever had – I bought this laptop because it was on special and unfortunately "if it's too good to be true it probably is" is very true. The keyboard doesn't pick up all the characters, the compute constantly freezes and I have to start it up to 5-6 times every time I use it. But I do a disk clean up and defrag, etc. and there is nothing wrong so it's the… Read more

laptop itself. It's the most frustrating I've ever had. I want to throw it across the room. I'm going to try and take it back tomorrow. And this message took over 10 mins to type because I have to keep fixing the spelling.

It even says about not heating up. Mine is hot and doesn't seem like any difference. RAM is better levels
