Audio Technica AT-LPW50PB

My Audio Technica AT-LPW50PB turntable came with a warped platter – I like Audio Technica gear and own another AT turntable. So when I wanted to upgrade I bought the well-reviewed Audio Technica AT-LPW50PB. It looks great in Piano Black. Initial impressions of how it sounded were clouded by a noticeable whoosing sound. This distracting sound I discovered was coming from a badly warped platter. I contacted The Audio Tailor and they sent me a replacement platter from Audio Technica under warranty. Could there be a quality control issue with Audio Technica platters? Anyway, kudos to The Audio Tailor for handling this problem so smoothly. After several months of listening to the AT-LPW50PB on my Sennheiser HD598 headphones I must say this turntable is a beauty. It is very easy to set up and operate manually. The only thing I changed was the rubber platter mat which I swapped for a Pathe Wings composite cork mat from Germany. The AT-LPW50PB's sound is very open, detailed and accurate with no discernible noise, once the earth cable is connected. This turntable is a gem worth much more than the asking price.
