Great bike for daily use – If your looking to buy a quality second hand Avanti Montari I highly recommend you do. Good bike for riding to work and back or general riding. Easy to work on yourself parts are very cheap to buy. Plenty of bolts on the frame for accessories. Mine is an XL frame 29×2 wheels. I currently ride it to work and back 5 days a week. Averaging 150kms no problem at all. Some recommendations are seat cover because the seat is quite hard

A decent set of tyres and puncture resistant tubes.

Fit a quality chain.

Could also do with upgrading the front shocks to lock out.

Change pedals to steel.

Overall a good starting point bike with a lot of potential.

A brilliant choice! – I have a Montari 29.2 and I have to say it is one nice bike. It was a great value bike I got with an XL size frame which is perfect for me and the wheels really do gobble up those bumps on a track. It cost me 700 bucks which i feel is a bit much to pay for a bike but it was well worth it. I love the feel, it is not hard to manoeuvre even with the big 29ers and there have been no problems with the bike yet. The gears are great too. But there are still some cons with the bike. Great paint job, well worth the 700 bucks, 29ers are a dream on the track. Gears are great. Pedals could be better, for 700 I would expect a stand,

Beautiful to ride, with a few quality issues – I'm quite tall, so went looking for a large framed bike; a 29er fit the bill perfectly. I shopped around a bit, and found that a lot of 29ers we way out of my price range. Being just a casual weekend rider, I didn't really want to spend much more than $800-$1000. I know there are much cheaper bikes available from places like K-mart, but I didn't want a toy; I wanted something of fair quality that I hoped would last.

I found my Avanti at a local indy bike dealer, and was happy to help out a small business, given the service I received was wonderful. Once I got the bike home, I was keen to ride straight away, but apparently the Gods has other ideas.

Before I delve into the negatives, I have to mention that this bike is a very smooth and comfortable ride. The frame and supplied rims are solid, and the big wheels make for a effortless commute. It's not too heavy, either - which makes lifting onto the rack easy. The supplied gear setup is excellent, and mechanical disc brakes pull up perfectly.... However...

First ride: Flat Front Tyre. Replaced under warranty. Second Ride: Flat Rear Tyre: Replaced under warranty. Third Ride: Bearings in the crank (where the peddles join together) went bad, and came loose: replaced with a sealed sleeve unit under warranty. Things went along swimmingly for a while, but now it appears there are more bearing issues, and the bike has developed a range of clicking and popping noises, but I've yet to get it looked at again.

In all it is an excellent bike, but I've been a little disappointed by the quality of the supplied extras. I do still enjoy riding it, very much, but I just wish that clicking sound would go away! :) Solid attractive frame, strong 29 inch rims, supplied seat, gear and brakes superb Poor quality cranks, peddles, tyres. Awkward slant on frame which makes setting on certain racks a problem.
