Recently moved into a new townhouse, 80's built, and no upgrade to the switchboard. Looking to install 3 x ceiling fans, but needed to upgrade the board too. Not a very professional group. Stay away, I think these guys are scams. I had asked Back's Electrical to give us a quote for a fuse box upgrade. They cancelled the first appointment and then a young man turns up, takes about 45min going through the electrical box and setting and then another 20 minutes in his car coming up with a quote. was outrageous. I had been given some idea of the cost and his quote was more than 3 times that. When he tried to push the panel back into place, it blew up. I asked him to fix the damage that he had caused. He said the panel was dangerous and I had to go ahead with their company doing the job now. He said he was not able to fix the issue and he insisted our panel was now illegal. He then offered me a 15% discount on their quote to use their company to do the job. This reminded me of the car scams when you took your car into a garage for a free check up and they would not let you leave, as your car was now illegal. I asked him to fix the problem he caused and he talked to his boss and then decided to leave. I have called the police on them and I think these people play a scam where the mess your electricity and then you are forced to use them to fix it. The OzGrid man came and fixed the issue. He had blown one of the service fuses and all he had to do was to change it and tape over the broken wire.
