Not Too Bad For $250. But GPS Function is Useless – I bought this unit around 2015/16, for about $250. from Aldi supermarket.. For what it could do, I thought the price was pretty good.. I installed it in the car, and had nothing but problems with the GPS function.. The warranty centre posted me a new SD card with the maps app on it.. Same problem again.. The screen kept displaying "card… Read more
error", or "maps error".. After talking with them on the phone a number of times, I discovered that this is a common fault with this unit... I have a background in electronics, so I knew there was nothing wrong with the wiring, as far as the installation was concerned... They offered to refund my money, but I decided to hang on to the unit.... I formatted the SD card on the pc, and it plays music and video files (movies) pretty good... But unfortunately, no GPS... But not to bad for $250.
ALDI Bauhn ACE-014 – A mate purchased one of these units in 2016 but it has been in a cupboard since. He just unpacked to install and discovered Micro SD Card was missing. I have made several attempts for him to secure a replacement from Tempo [Aldi's Warranty Service] without any success. Purchased a new blank card however this doesn't work as one needs the original… Read more
card to download updated maps using the NDrive app. The app returns a message 'Device Not Found'; it appears it is searching for a file on the card.
Would be helpful if someone had a copy of the original card that I could copy in the hope this will work.
GPS Bauhn Aldi – Hi There, this is worst gps you will ever buy, not recommended, it freezes, does not provide updated info, worst of all can not UPDATE GPS, a time will come when the system will say sorry there is no sd card, to get the signal insert the sd card. I did seek help, but there isn't any. It is discontinued. we can not return this to ALDI either. I… Read more
wish i had spent money for alternative, cost me money to buy, get it installed, the rear vision camera had to be wired to the back, lost my car to installers for 2 days
October 18th 2019 Update: Crap Bhaun products
My suggestion. Its as cheap as Aldi but full of crap. Dont even think of getting this anymore. Whats the tempest number. Hope it will help once again GPS not working. Can not even update it .
Do your self a favour and spend a bit more money on something that works – I usually give Aldi the benefit of the doubt as I have had quite a lot of tech products from them. This however is a lemon, Problem with software with the maps - self help portal is useless. Reverse camera screen decides to randomly pop up when it wants. Camera stopped working. Exasperated. Pulled it out and buying a quality product.
Was an Excellent Machine at first but is now useless – I bought the ACE-014 car stereo from Aldi. Initially it was great with heaps of features. But typical of "cheap" overseas products, the touch screen stopped working, not long after the warranty period was over. I have called the 1300- number but have had no joy.i have rang and emailed "Tempo" as instructed and they have spoken to me, more or less… Read more
telling me that my machine is broken and would cost a fortune to fix. What a huge waste of money that I don't have. Now I've got to drive around with no working stereo. Very frustrating. Surely there would be a place that deals with spare parts and/or diognosis of faults? I don't think I will be buying anything Bauhn from now on. Pretty sad really, as I did like this product and it's features.
GPS Map Data Display Issue Solved – Hi, my family recently purchased this unit from Aldi and had the unit fitted professionally and found all of the functions worked as advertised, except for the GPS map display. When we turned the unit on, we could see that the GPS would obtain a signal, however the map data would never display, we would only see a white background. After many… Read more
hours of reading through online forums and attempting to resolve the issue by deleting 'appdata' from the SD Card, we noticed that when looking at the AU/NZ map information on the head unit, 'not licensed' was listed in the map metadata.
To resolve the issue:
- we removed the SD card from the head unit
- plugged the SD card into a laptop
- opened a web browser and navigated to NDrive 11 update download area
(https://ndrive.com/support-ndrive11/#nplus)
- downloaded and installed the NPlus app onto our computer
- opened the NPlus app (and created an account)
- navigated to 'buy' button
- purchased a license for the AU/NZ maps ($39)
- downloaded and installed the AU/NZ map data onto the SD card using the NPlus app.
- ejected the SD card from the laptop and installed it back into the head unit and the maps all now work perfectly.
I hope that this post saves people some time and frustration. When reading the manual, it sets the expectation that you should see a map of the Canberra CBD when accessing the GPS function for the first time before it then locates your current GPS location. And this is where the problem exists. I think that this is easily solved if Aldi / Bauhn just put a sticker on the box, updated the manual, or published a post somewhere online to set the expectation that local map data needs to be purchased separately.
Otherwise, the unit looks great and now all of the functions work perfectly. Essentially the user manual needs to be updated to include these extra steps (and it's probably only for international (AU/NZ) customers; I expect it probably works as advertised in EU without the extra map license).
Not Recommended – This is pathetic auto head-unit. you buy for cheap and end up with paying extra for buy other accessories like harness, etc plus high labor. End of the day touch screen doesn't work properly and useless . For dismantle There is no where u can pre-inspect as box is sealed and you have to install by professional technician . DONT BUY - just simple
Heeeeelp – Hi all of you with the ACE-14 GPS unit. I have a number of questions that I have sent to Temp and after reading the reviews I don't expect I will get much satisfaction from the support group. Pity cause all other products I have purchased from Aldi have been excellent. Listed below are the problems/Questions I have emailed to Temp can anyone of… Read more
you users help me please.
Biggest problem is that it does not save changes made to any of the settings. Every time the GPS is turned on I have to reset the following
1. Language. I set the language to ‘Karen Australian’ but it keeps changing it back to ‘Mary UK’. I don’t want Mary UK I am in Australia!
2. Keyboard Type. I change the keyboard type to QWERTY but it changes it back to ABC. I want the default to be QWERTY.
3. KPH/MPH. Even though the setting is shown as KPH unless I change it to MPH and back to KPH the voice and display on the map screen is in MPH! I don’t want MPH I am in Australia and we use KPH!
4. Time format. I keep changing it to 12H but on the map screen it insists on displaying the time in the 24H format.
5. Road Speed Alert. I can change it to ‘Visual & Sound’ till the cows come home but it does not retain the setting. It reverts back to Visual only.
6. Recent Locations. It has stored my Home location but does not store any other locations.
7. 2D/3D. It does not matter how many times I change 2D to 3D it always reverts back to 2D when the GPS is restarted.
8. Speed/Dist etc. The speed, distance windows on the bottom left of the screen need to be reset each time the GPS is restarted. I have nearly run off the road on a number of occasions!!!
On a trip each time I stop for fuel/toilet/food etc. I have to reset the above and this is totally unacceptable I therefore require a software update to fix the above ASAP.
Further the maps are years out of date please send details on how I can update the maps.
When searching the USB for a particular folder how can I change the delay so that I have time to review what is displayed.
And lastly and probably not the last query I will have is how do I turn the radio off and still have the GPS on.
I hope some of you have answers to the above
Temp Australia offer very poor customer support for Bauhn car audio – Radio will not pick up top rating Sydney Radio Station 2UE, and it's been checked by a local installer for any aerial issues and found to be properly installed by the Auto-electrician that did the install. Five phone calls and two emails with identified customer complaint file number all for nothing positive. Just rip it out and send it back for… Read more
a refund when I've invested over $300 on the install and $80 on the follow up check of the install. Not happy Jan.
Value for money! – Purchased this from Aldi. Installed it in my Mercedes SLK 230 R170. Wired the head unit into the existing loom is downloaded car wiring diagram. Located gps aerial under dash top ( on top of drinks tray) used transmitter / receiver for video to link rear camera to head unit. Could not use phone as the microphone was too quiet. Called the service centre and they sent me a replacement front panel and solved the problem! This works very well!
WHAT A WASTE – I am very disappointed the main reason for my purchase was the GPS I have purchased the Nav about three months and the supplier was going to send me an SD card its over a month and I did not receive the SD card ....very disappointing very time I call Tempest they would say they are out of stock and it would take three month for them to send out the SD CARD
Save your money and buy something else – Looked great in the box, installed it and there were no maps loaded on the SD card, took 4 weeks to get a new card. Sound was constantly cutting out and would just turn off intermittently. Finally had enough and returned to Aldi for a very easy refund (was inside of the 60 policy). I would definitely not recommended this radio to anyone.
Poor installation instructions, support and GPS software – Installation manual advises to connect the reversing camera to the tail light instead of the reversing light. It doesn't show where to connect the red wire on the AV lead (pink on stereo) & the GPS doesn't show streets. Tempo aren't helpful. Get $20 GPS software off eBay it works.

gps works – My GPS was not working when it first arrived, I was getting this weird message 03 as well, then I was so frustrated I wanted to delete the file when it ask me if you proceeded it will delete the file of some sort, and I said yes to that, it seems that it fixed the problem now GPS works fine no problem
GPS issues – I also had issues with the GPS - it wouldn't let me save settings for speed camera etc and the out of map error. I deleted the app data file and then chose the voice of UK Mary - since then no issues. UK voice of Karen kind of worked - not not completely, but all issues fixed by choosing UK Mary.
Needs av inputs – Just bought this unit & realised it does not have any rca-av inputs. It only has camera & video out! in this day & age you would expect at least one set of audio inputs, otherwise too early to tell in regards to quality, however has nice picture on hd screen.
Cheap and dysfunctional – GPS faulty out of the box Audio quality is extremely poor. FM reception is very marginal. Unable to pick up stations that the previous Pioneer unit found easily. Tempo.com was unhelpful in addressing any of the issues. I would suggest that this is a lemon that will bit Aldi in the preverbial. You get what you pay for, in this case a lot of trouble
After living with it for 10 months ... if it only did what it promised I'd give it 5 stars – I bought mine late last year. It's just reappeared in the current (August 2015) Aldi catalogue but nothing suggests that it has been fixed. The package as advertised is great - if only it actually worked as advertised. As detailed earlier I had major problems with the GPS/SD card/software until finally I found a spare in stock on the shelf at a… Read more
local Aldi and Aldi arranged for me to swap my non-working model for it.
The new one “works” (sort of). BUT it feels like an early development model that has escaped into Beta testing. I expect my consumer devices to just work. The Ace-014 doesn’t. Instead it has lots of little irritants that make it feel like I have to fight it to get it to do what I want. Since I’m usually driving at the time this is dangerous in an in-car device.
A minor one is that there are multiple screens depending on what you are doing. For no pattern that I can find it often ends up with multiple unrelated screens showing simultaneously – and I have to “press” the icon I want multiple times to get it to work out what I am doing.
The GPS is the major source of problems. The major irritant is that it now regularly starts up with a “loading” screen - followed by a blank screen. What I’ve learnt to do is to use the manual buttons to switch source to SD card, then I can use the touch screen to go to the Home page then on to (Global) Settings then tell it where to find the GPS software. Either the directory/filename has disappeared and is now empty or it has re-set itself to point at an entirely different (incorrect/non-existent) directory/filename.
On the GPS itself .. at T-intersections in the city, with the car stopped at a light, the GPS can alternate between advising me to turn left and then to turn right (and then to turn left …). It hates Melbourne’s Nepean Highway. Admittedly the Nepean is a challenge varying from two lanes to 8 or 9 (with 3 separators/nature strips). But driving in the outer lane seems to trick it into thinking I’m actually in the side road currently joining the highway with extremely odd instructions to suddenly turn. Plus the Nepean re-numbers at each suburb. Adding a GOTO address comes up with the correct suburb/address and distance to that point (as can be confirmed through google maps) BUT then accepting and having it calculate the route, it is now heading for a location some 4 to 5 km away from where I asked it to go (presumable the correct street number but wrong suburb) – and it gets quite unhappy when I drive past where it wants to go heading for where I want to go.
There are other idiosyncrasies such as whatever music you’re playing disappearing if you touch the volume control while the GPS is running but I’m sure you get the idea by now …
fantastic – this is a great unit, only problem i had was the error 3 on the gps, one call to the after sale support 1300886649 that is on the bottom of each page of the instruction manual and a few days later a new sd card was posted to me problem solved. if you have a problem with any thing apart from the error 3 just look at the screen a tap on a few items… Read more
and you'll find the solution. im not a tech person but with a little time and thought have found all functions simple and well set up. only extra i would like is school zone alerts, but for the price fantastic value.
GPS: Karen's Corruption! – Like alot of others who bought this unit, I had issues with error 03 on the SD card for the GPS. I tried all methods mentioned by others to fix it but could only temporarily fix it by deleting or renaming "appdata" file in the "data" folder. Every time I deleted it, the file reappeared in "data" folder after it had been back in the unit, so i… Read more
figured that the file "appdata" was being created as the saved preferences I chose in the initial setup, which was "Karen (aussie souding english voice), which is the first one on the menu (default option), after I did that, I accepted the terms and it worked until the unit was turned off and wouldnt work again until I deleted "appdata" again. The next time I did it, I chose the english option under Karen, the pommy accent and have not had a problem since! So with that being said, its an awesome unit that now works 100%.
So avoid the corruption of Karen and let the POM guide you, it might an easy fix for you too.
This Is A Great Product and am very happy with the unit – I had no problems with this unit, and just love the functionality and all of its great options, the only con is with the card with the gps maps on it ,came up as corrupted upon further investigation i discovered that the setup files were in a separate folder so i copied the setup files back into the setup folder and tried again and it then setup… Read more
and works great.other than that sound is great and touch screen works great.
so i give it a 4 out of 5. RJPerrett.
Amazing features and functionality – I bought this tuner, gps, DVD player unit knowing I could return it in 2 months if I wasn't happy. I am amazed how well it works, my wife who is no tech buff said she found it easy to use. Win win! I am so happy with this unit I'm looking to buy another for our future car. Only Q I have is re updates of the GPS maps. Easy to use interface that even my wife find easy. Highly recommend!

This unit is fantastic – Everything works, needed to update the gps software to HEMA HN7 maps which includes all camping spot from the Camps7 book, perfect reversing camera, perfect bluetooth. Only improvement this unit requires is to make the processor a bit faster so whilst running HEMA maps it wont take the phone screen to cut in after the 5th ring. Otherwise perfect,… Read more
so thank you Bauhn for this fantastic unit. NDrive is a good program for a sedan, except it wont change from day view to night view automatically, and the database crash message at the initial start on it was quiet annoying. I've overcome the problem by putting the sd card from my old HEMA HN7 off road gps with a cracked screen into this one and it worked.
Bauhn ACE 014 in car entertainment-no sd card; no download – Having read trhough all the reviews thus far I see a lot of common problems. The GPS is a main reason for the purchase in most cases. I personally liked the 7" inch screen flip out as I have a tablet that does my navigation. The GPS feature though is a bonus if you want the omplete package. In all these strings no one has asked for download… Read more
directions even falling short when the SD card wasnt in the pack. I would have thought asking about the a DOWNLOAD of maps location was the next step? In my view the item could have been ranked higher if the complete package was marketed with a working GPS and more importantly a support team that actually supposrts. The tempo.com home page has a fella laughing. I suggest he is laughing because he knows that their back up is no good and it is a humerous thing to ponder on.......suckers!
If anyone finds their way back to this page and has a clew as to where a download maps directory is for Australia.......please share it. Please use my email address to email me with link.

Also having issues – The software is VERY POOR. this is the issue with database issue. the unit ignores settings saved for miles to km. also wasted many hours with not so helpful help desk to be told I can get a refund. to buy new maps I must go through another company who say I must talk to tempo....grrrr. all in all, this is a poor rushed untested product… Read more

there techs/programmers have dropped the ball on this for there is NO fix or update possible with the usb port hosting for re-flashing of head unit.

No GPS signal – I agree with Marshall, having exactly the same problem, good radio, BT works well but GPS is a dud . Very frustrating!!!
If the GPS worked I'd give it 4 stars – UPDATE - after 5 weeks of continually chasing for the replacement SD card, and having the service department repeatedly ignore my calls and emails I have finally had a manager admit that they will not be replacing the SD cards. I'm not happy at all with the time wasting, lies and lack of customer service provided by Tempo (the contracted service… Read more
department for Bauhn). I now have a faulty unit that I can return for a refund but this leaves a hole in the back of my car where the reverse camera has been fitted. I have to run around and get quotes on a replacement bumper, colour matching & paint job with no guarantee, and which no doubt will be refused payment when they finally realise the cost and make a decision. A new high quality brand name unit would be a far cheaper option!
ORIGINAL REVIEW - I bought the Bauhn Car Entertainment System from Aldi for $299 which is extremely good value for what it includes. It has the following features; 7" 16:9 TFT Touch Screen, Bluetooth phone book display, remote control, USB/SD input, CD&DVD playback, reverse camera, and GPS.
Unfortunately the included SD card with the GPS navigation software supplied by NDrive/Go Cruise is corrupted, which was not discovered until the unit had been installed (a hole drilled into the rear of my car for the reversing camera). On returning to Aldi I was able to get another SD card from another unit but no luck with that one, so I had the entire unit replaced and again no luck. NDrive suggested a fix of deleting a file from the SD card. This works once until the car is turned off. When it is restarted the same error code [corrupted database (error #3)!] appears on the GPS screen.
It is disappointing since the GPS was the main reason I purchased the unit. It has been almost 2 weeks now and I am still waiting on a replacement SD card from the after sales support team at tempo.org who have a number of other people with the same issue. I would have thought that it was tested prior to being sold.
Apart from this frustrating set back the system is decent quality. The hands-free phone calls work well, it has extremely good sound quality, and the reverse camera is very clear.
I'm nit-picking here but it would be better to have the clock viewable from all screens rather then just the home/menu screen although I can live with that.
Fingers crossed that eventually I will get the GPS working.
Very poor unit – Unit worked well for about 2 weeks. I was running the gps and an error came up. I had to reset the unit to make it work again but after the reset I just had ghosting on the screen. I couldn't fix this problem. After 10 calls to the supplier they told me to return it for a refund. 10 calls because they kept telling me they would call me back… Read more
but never did. I asked for a replacement and they said it's not possible because they didn't have units on hand.
Please do yourself a favour and stay away from this unit.
Ohh, almost forgot. The reverse camera didn't work either
Bauhn ace-014 – Installed the unit, then moved it to let it cool down. GPS file was corrupted but I fixed this by resetting it to factory defaults first then reset up.Works great now. I set up the reverse camera but cannot get an image on AV1. Have tested all the components and power. Can get a picture on a remote screen when in reverse but not on the units screen.....cannot work it out.....yet. Great price for the functionality
Bauhn ACE-014 – Just installed the Bauhn ACE-014 seems to be working well, it's got all you need from a unit ,, but gets very hot at the back of the unit, does anyone else have this issue?
