Bernina Activa 240

I adore my Bernina Activa 240 – This is my first Bernina and I'd never buy anything else. I've used it now for many years without incident, best machine I've ever owned and I've owned many, L O V E it. I've made many many quilts on this machine, some king size, and I've quilted them all myself using a walking foot. Joy

OK – Despite the few pluses for this machine I would not purchase another Bernina and am thinking of selling this one.I will research any other new machine better next time. great because it can be detached from the machine and can be free standing.Plenty of stitches for quilting or general sewing, though decorative stitches can not be made very big without losing defination.It does have some great qualities and the warranty is terrific. Major dislike is the bobbin case. It is very small and I have found numerous times that when opening the hook race to clean, the whole section falls out and it is extremely hard to get it back in. My 27 year old Janome had a bright red mark on it to show you where to line it up, but this machine has nothing like that and it is so time wasting. I contacted Bernina shortly after buying this machime which I paid $1400.00 for and complained about this and the size of the bobbin area and that it looks as though it was made for very tiny hands and received no help.The bed size is too small to even attempt quilting a good size quilt. Would not purcahse another Bernia judged on this one mainly because of the bobbin area.I regretted not looking more closely at this machine within a week of buying it.
