Dry Weather Handling

Disappointing wet‑weather performance despite some strengths. I’ve had these tyres for a couple of years now and, overall, I’ve found them underwhelming. My driving is mostly urban with a few longer trips each month. ✅ Pros ✔ Expected lifespan around 40,000+ km - I’m on track to get just over 40,000 km out of them. While they’re marketed close to 50,000 km, I suspect you’d be very close to the legal tread limit by then.

✔ Good dry‑weather grip - Dry handling is acceptable for a standard passenger tyre.

✔ Performs fine on light dirt roads - On the few occasions I’ve taken them onto dirt roads, they’ve handled reasonably well.

✔ Stronger sidewalls than some competitors - The sidewalls feel more robust compared with options like the Bridgestone Ecopia.

✔ Fuel efficiency is decent - Fuel economy has been similar to other eco‑focused tyres I’ve used, even though these aren’t specifically marketed as such.

✔ Comfortable ride - The ride quality is balanced—not too soft, not too firm—and feels good in dry conditions.

❌ Cons

✘ Poor wet grip (major concern) - This has been the biggest issue. I expected better wet traction given how they’re advertised. They've always had an issue since new, but after 15,000 km, the wet grip has noticeably declined even though there’s still plenty of tread left. Living in Canberra, where roundabouts are everywhere, the tyres lose traction far too easily, even at 30–40 km/h. They don’t feel planted or secure when cornering, and I’ve experienced wheelspin from a stop more times than I’d like. I've experimented with different PSI's, but it doesn't change anything. Because of these issues, I’ll be replacing them once summer arrives in late 2026.

✘ Picks up and holds small stones - These tyres retain little stones and gravel more than any tyre I’ve owned. Michelin (who manufacture BFGoodrich) advise that the stones will “naturally” come out, but I’ve had one particular pebble stuck in the tread since day one, and I expect it’ll still be there when the tyres come off!

✘ Road noise has increased over time - They started out reasonably quiet, but the noise level has worsened as they’ve worn.

❗ Final Verdict - Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend these tyres, mainly due to their weak wet‑weather performance. When I replace them, I’m likely going with Michelin Primacy 5 (already running them on my other car and they’re excellent) or the Bridgestone Serenity Plus.

My tyres especially one needed a replacement badly and I've no idea about tyres at all. I'm way too afraid to go into a shop and come off silly. I also don't want to get ripped off or given the wrong tyres ect. I booked in with this place as I saw it was a reasonable price, good reviews, and they would come out to my home while I work to get it done. The communication was great, I received a text message from them asking to confirm the tyres. Again, I've no idea, so I sent a picture to them and they called me. I can't remember the mans name, but he made sure I was explained in detail with what I've ordered that it was the wrong size. He found me a great price on the correct size tyre, I learnt something new and he had good humour about my mistake. The car feels great again and no issues. Will be booking with this company again when I need them replaced again. Thank you for your excellent and quick service. Please also send my appreciation to the man that I was on the phone with, again I can't remember his name I'm sorry, but I'm glad he took the time to call me and help me out quickly. Thanks team!

I got a full set of these 30,000 km ago and am glad I did. They have almost double the treadwear of the original Khumos that were standard fit on a Seltos. I did read about tyre squeel and slight traction loss when you have to put your foot down from a standstill in some reviews elsewhere. I did experience this for the first several thou km, especially the first couple. But its gone now and doesn't do it. I guess some kind of wear in takes place. They are quieter than the original Khumos and handle perfectly as far as im concerned. All my driving is rural with the occasional dirt road drive when I go fishing and often on single lane bush roads where you have to share it with oncoming vehicles driving half on the road and half in the gravel, so they get a workout and have to perform every week. Wear so far is nice and even. I would say I have as much tread left right now as I had on my previous tyres when they were new. Price difference at the time was just $10 more per tyre. If id have replaced the originals with what they were id be up for a new set of tyres right now. As it is there is tens of thousands of ks left in these easy. Well worth the money. Theyre lasting like my Coopers I once had on a Nissan. At the time when I needed news for the Seltos I contemplated another set of Coopers with high treadwear. The Coops were $240 per tyre then, these were $155. No brainer Id get these again for anything I drive. The photos are after 30,000ks of rural driving.

Purchased at Bob Jane T-Marts for $155.
