fully open...Let it warm up a little, close the choke and increase revs. I put small leafy branches in the top and larger branches in the side feeder. Anything in the top really snatches, so throw in and DO NOT hold onto it to feed. Also, when you stop the mulcher, you MUST ensure there is nothing left in the side feeder or top feeder. Even a small branch will stop the blades/hammers and in turn the belt will jam, but the motor will run. You'll soon have smoke and if you don't stop the unit, it will likely catch on fire (As seen in other comments). I try to have a mixture of wet and dry things to feed as mixing it up prevents clogging and end up giving you a better quality mulch (which I re-use everywhere in the garden). The only thing I find a little frustrating is that I have to constantly manually move the mulch away from the chute to create space and avoid clogging. I think with a better design, you could have had a movable chute to work on mulch distribution. Anyway, overall I'm very pleased with the units abilities.

Glad I didn’t get a smaller powered mulcher – his is my first mulcher. So I got no basis for comparison. does not like green cuttings and it will clog up. I usually mix it up with dry stuff and wet stuff. And making sure the drum has cleared up on its own.

I have had it now for 6months and now understands what it can or cannot handle. I have busted twice the belts. Luckily no fires. And I had to disassemble a couple of times to clear clog from palm fronds. The engine couldn’t start as it got jammed. But this was in the first 3 months of usage. I have not had any issues since as I have learnt to be patient. For example making sure the drum has cleared before putting more stuff in.

In summary I am happy with the purchase. Only negative is that it is rather painful to get to blades to replace them with sharpened spares . Wished it was a minute job to remove and replace blade rather than 10mins.

Can't think how we survived without it now – A small amount of assembly was required - very simple. So far we have produced about 8 cubic meters of mulch - branches from 3 apple trees, fallen gum tree branches etc. No trouble with branches to about 70mm. completed mulching and a small stick say 1 cm in diameter is left in there. A stick this size is enough to stop the fly wheel getting up to momentum and you have to undo 2 13mm bolts, pivot the inlet chute and remove the stick. A couple of quick release catches would have been more convenient to open the inlet chute. We tow it around behind the quad bike as it is quite heavy.

Not built to last – Unit works reasonably well. Starts easily and easy enough to use, although branches over 50mm not worth the effort and were cut for fire wood instead. Tech support I must have used it too much, although I am only on a residential block and would estimate around 30 hours of use all up, on mainly pine. Also rang Tech support to ask how to change the hammer blades which are available as a spare part, but was told that replacement is a major job which they recommended should not be attempted. The belt guard had been rubbing against motor and has worn a groove into the motor casing, fortunately this was discovered before it rubbed all the way through. Not a unit which is built to last.

Best of 3! – After owning 2 previous expensive mulcher, that gave up, I gave this one a try. Easy starting, powerful, takes my payments, but you need to not overfill and feed correctly. Keep exit chute clear, and no problems. Avoid moist and fibrous stuff.Keep the maintenance up and sharpen your blades. Only down, was a split tyre, and not easy to replace the wheel, a heavy machine to move around, could do with a tow bar for mowers. Show details
