Hansa C13 Chipper

Repair Cost Issue – The cutting wheel in my C13 chipper seized. I contacted Hansa Australia for assistance. They sent a parts diagram. I dismantled the machine which included the removal of all housings, belts and motor. I took photos of the dismantled machine and sent them to Hansa for advise on the next step. This step entailed the dismantling of the bearings and… Read more
drive shaft. Simply there were several nuts and bolts Simply I didn't wish to dismantle parts that did not require dismantling. Hansa did not respond. Reluctantly I contacted Hansa for direction to a preferred dealer. I was directed to Nambour Outdoor Power The pulled down machine was delivered to this entity and several days later I was contacted by Text to collect the machine. I was invoiced $ 595 of which labour was 4.5 hours @ $ 110 per hour = $ 495 This is an excessive amount given that I pulled the balance of the machine apart in half an hour. Nambour Outdoor Power simply had to undo 8 nuts and bolts, a couple of grub screws and replace some small parts. I would be happy to receive a response but given the issues raised have some doubt one will be forth coming. Trev
Superb machine – I researched the acreage owner chipper and could not be happier with this robust machine. I’m sure were I to sell it I’d get close to my money back but if I ever do that’ll be years away. The 13HP Honda motor is such an easy start. The 36kg flywheel with superman hard blades will process pretty much whatever you thoughtfully plan. The ingenious… Read more
sloping 19x19cm inlet shute flexibly introduces your cutting calculations to this macines’s power.
I have been clearing some way overgrown scrub and trees using the C13. It’ll reliably chew the 9cm green branch stuff as stated. BUT if needed I use my 16inch bar chainsaw to longitudinally halve the thicker 10 - 15cm branches and/or trunks, then feed them into the shute. You could extrapolate here, I haven’t yet but will be giving it a go ie longitudinally quartering 20-25cm diameter trunks/branches j
It might be time to call in a professional outfit about this stage and I will for 3 or 4 large trees on my block. Tall climbs, rope drop by the arborist professionals, and I’ll be sweet to store firewood and chip the rest.
It doesn’t take much observation/analysis and the C13 is reliably chomping without a blink. I don’t push it and there’s an equation for every feed into this steadfast machine but the 19x19cm feed interface to the 36kg flywheel will get you thinking about what you can achieve short or long term from buying one. I got the tow bar so all up $6520. Some of the best money I have ever spent.
I’m amazed by the the build quality , power, design and versatility of this product. Purchased from Mower City South Tweed November 2021 and they have been excellent
Best option for those with acreage – This is a large, heavy and well built machine. Choice of Honda motors is superb as they start easily and run well. My property is on a mountainside and the heft of the standard unit makes pushing up/down even small inclines/declines quite a chore. Unless you have a drawbar and a garden tractor to tow it around, the standard model is best suited… Read more
to very flat land.
Only issue I found was having the discharge chute set on too much of a sharp angle causes the machine to block. This wasn’t clear in the instructions, but as soon as you widen the angle up it works a treat.
This was definitely a huge upgrade over the old Masport mulcher I had which relied on hammers and knives. I much prefer the Hansa where everything gets fed into the same chute.
Ripper machine - highly recommended – I had several large piles of branches and leaves from storm windfall, Sugar gums mostly and some winter prunings, fruit trees and yuccas. I debated burning them but decided to mulch them onto the garden. The C13 didn't miss a beat, it turned them into mulch straight onto the garden where I wanted them as fast as I could feed them in. I allowed a… Read more
day and it took a couple of hours. No clean up, highly recommend this machine to any potential buyer. Only disappointment was the tow bar didn't come as standard, the dealer wanted $300 bucks for a tow bar, which he didn't have in stock, I thought that was a bit dodgy given every video shows the machine being towed. Get the tow bar or make your own it's a bit heavy to drag around the garden but worth the effort for the ease of use and excellent performance.
Excellent well designed powerful machine – I have had a C13 for my small acreage property for around four years. When it first arrived I had a pile of branches 12m x2m x1.5m high which I expected to take take 2 hours to mulch. It took 25 minutes. The great thing is you don't need to spend much time trimming branches, you just feed in the lot. I have fed in whole palm trunks up to 100mm… Read more · 1
dia. The Honda GX390 engine is superb. It usually starts first pull, never more than two, generally because it wasn't switched it on. This is a well designed and built robust machine which should last for years. Buy a pair of very long handled pliers for regular removal of fibrous material from flywheel shaft.
Well built, hard working garden chipper – Bought chipper to clean up some overgrown bushland and maintain it. Very happy with the build quality, ease of use and performance of the Hansa C13. We have removed more than 30 weed trees (Privet and Camphor Laural) to 8m, chipped about 20 unfortunately placed native hardwood trees to 25m (chipping everything but the trunk and heavy… Read more
branches) and countless shrubs. Surprising how it can turn a huge pile of cuttings into a small pile of chips.
The machine has a big chute and the design of the blades drags in branches and vines. When you get used to the way the machine feeds, it is possible to cut the branches to suit, minimising the cutting and feed work.
