Does a reasonably good job – It certainly saves a lot of time and does a good job. It is a little cumbersome and heavy, and costly to use the Bissell cleaning products. However, my issue is that the brush is no longer rotating, and it is only 1 week out of the 2-year warranty. I could understand it if it was for heavy use, but we only use it once every 2 to 3 weeks. makes it a very expensive proposition for just 2 years use, and we will now have to consider getting a purpose-built floor scrubber instead. I would be afraid to purchase another Bissell product and have the same thing happen.
Cleaning fluid not readily available – The Crosswave does a good clean of the hard floors however, around the edges and in corners it's difficult to get a good clean. My main frustration is that a 1L bottle of the cleaning formula costs around $15. And for my house, I need to refill the clean fluid tank twice to clean my entire house. Each time you fill the tank you need to use… Read more
approx 100-150ml. I'd easily use a 1L bottle once a month which is quite expensive and you're not allowed to use any other products other than the Crosswave brand products.
My issue is that if Bissell want to sell a product and require the customer to use their brand cleaning fluid, the cleaning fluid should be readily available from the same retailers that sell the device.
For over a month I've been unable to source cleaning solution and therefore unable to use my product. I've been to Harvey Norman every week for a month and they tell me they have an order in with Bissell but it hasn't arrived yet. I've also been to Godfrey's once.
I contacted Bissell and their advice is I can buy from their website but I'd then incurr a $12.95 postage charge or tell Harvey Norman to contact Bissell for an ETA on their delivery.
This product has been superseded and there's a new crosswave now. However it uses the same fluid so this is an ongoing issue with the price and accessability of the required cleaning fluid.
Waste of money – It’s heavy. It leaves streaks everywhere. Its cumbersome. It takes ages to clean. It leaks. It doesn’t vacuum close to the side. The cleaning solutions are expensive and it simply doesn’t last . I’ve had mine for less than 12 months and it’s now sitting behind the bin waiting for hard rubbish day . A total waste of money and time. Back to the old bucket and mop. So disappointed and would definitely not recommend buying one. Show details
A real time saver – This machine has been a wonderful addition to our cleaning tools. It will never replace our Dyson vacuum. It has made the task of mopping much easier and less time consuming. My wife did comment on the weight being a bit heavy when doing the whole house. The need to constantly hold down the trigger was also a small issue for her. Overall my… Read more
wife and I can't imagine going back to our old system of vaccum the whole house and then back through again with a steam mop. Would recommend this unit.
Best hard floor cleaner I’ve found – This is not perfect but its the best I’ve found so far. It sucks up the dirty water and allows you to spray clean water and detergent as you move on. I use Handi Andi since the Bissell product ran out and it’s just as good. Floor dries fast too which is a great feature. Does not get close enough to edge which is a negative so that has to be… Read more
cleaned separately which is why it only gets 4 stars but I appreciate any cleaner of this kind would struggle with this aspect. Is not great on high glass floors as can leave some streaking but a cheap microfibre mop applied while floor still damp will negate this. Works great on carpet as well. I think it’s worth the money.
Last for two months only – Water canister start leaking, rather than cleaning the hard floor it just making more mess not lifting up the water properly. Try to contact the Godfrey where I purchased one month keep holding it then they said Bissell will fix their products they cant do anything about it. Hardly used 2 months once in a week only on hard floor, not happy with the product and a service at all. Show details
Very Noisy, Not Convenient To Use, Doesn't Save Cleaning Time – The Bissell Crosswave is not going to save you any cleaning time, Because first of all you have to take this rather clunky machine out of it storage area and then fill its water bottle and add the right amount of the expensive Bissell cleaning solution, Which is used in large amounts and doesn't last long at all. Then you of course need to… Read more
uncoil and plug in the long electrical cord and before you begin your vacumming and washing you have to press a trigger on the handle for 30 seconds to dispense cleaning solution onto the Bissell Crosswave cleaning rollers.
When cleaning the machine only dispenses small amounts of cleaning solution and it was neccesary for me to very frequently press the trigger on the handle to release adequate amounts of cleaning solution.
When cleaning you need to use slow backward and forward motions to clean any area properly.
These Bissell Crosswave cleaners do NOT clean to the edge and leave approximately 2cm gaps which will have to be cleaned manually.
These cleaning machines are also quite noisy in usage.
I also found that I had to temporarily move furniture items during cleaning because the cleaning head of the machine simply will not manouvre into smaller spaces.
After all this has been done you have to run the Bissell Crosswave for approximately 1 minute to wash the cleaning brush roller and then you need to empty the cleaning solution bottle, clean out the dirty waste container, put it back together, recoil the electrical cord an place the cleaning machine back into its storage area.
Doing all of this means no time at all is saved cleaning my floors, In fact using the Bissell Crosswave meant it took longer to get my floors clean and involved more exertion.
I can quickly and easily clean my floors with a sweep up and a good wash with a bucket of good strong detergent which cleans more thoroughly an involves less time and exertion.
However the machines do have good suction and my floors did dry quickly after cleaning, But to my dismay I have noticed streaking on my vinyl flooring after using the Bissell Crosswave cleaners.
So happy with this purchase – Great suction and performance Used primarily on ceramic tiles and area rugs. Easy to clean however the filter goes mouldy/discoloured very quickly even when airing it out after each use. On thick rugs it doesn't work so well so I wouldn't recommend it for any with a pile over 1cm. I also wouldn't recommend going from tiles to rugs. Start on… Read more
your rugs first and then onto your floors as the brush can be dirty from your floors and when going onto a lighter rug overtime you can see it discolouring.
Purchased from the good guys. While they stock the cleaning agent they do not stock filters and brushheads. It's next to impossible to get those without going on a waiting list with the outlet store or main supplier. This seems to be a very American item. You can buy parts on eBay however they are super expensive to get here. I purchased my parts after a 4 week wait with the outlet store.
Something to keep in mind of you prefer to walk into a bricks and mortar store and be able to order it won't happen.
All in all, owned for 1 year and still my favourite. It's halved my cleaning time as I vacuum and mop at the same time. A godsend for cleaning up food from small children.
Used a Dyson stick vacuum prior to this and I've tossed it now I have this.
Yes it is noisy but its far more powerful and quicker to clean. Worth the compromise in my eyes
Super convenient and easy to use – Very happy with this purchase. Managed to get it with a discount from Billy Guyatts. It’s very quick to set up and doesn’t have too many parts. you can quickly go from vacuum to mop. It actually cleans carpets really well. They look like they’ve been steam cleaned. The cleaning process is fine. Just have to let it dry overnight. You could probably… Read more
substitute the cleaner for some essential oils and water with vinegar and bicarbonate. It’s saved heaps of time. The only issue is that the cord can get in the way and it is quite noisy. But other than that, it’s a fantastic buy.
It’s a good product – Have had the CrossWave for about 4 weeks. Been using it weekly. It’s good that you can vaccum and mop at the same time, but it’s heavy to move around. It doesn’t clean up close to the wall, and you can’t use it to clean small door mats. It doesn’t make cleaning faster at all, but it feels cleaner than vacuum and mop. I have laminate… Read more
flooring. So happy that this doesn’t heat up so it’s safe to use on my laminate flooring. With 3 kids and a few cats, I m very impressed with the Crosdwave picking up all the car Hair and kiddies mess
The multi surface clearing solution smells very pleasant.,
Overall happy with my purchase.
SO HAPPY – I bought mine today and loved it! In shock and awe about how well it worked and that I was able to cut my time in half! I am also shocked at how dirty my “clean floors” were after seeing the waste water compartment. I highly recommend the crosswave. To the awesome Bissell team, thank you from a full time working mum! With the next model could you… Read more · 1
please include the little scrubber on the back and have a heating element for the water like my Bissell steam mop has and does? i love that I can now use tap water and that the power cord is longer! Well done Bissell! Ps the top of my steamer mop canister snapped off and is stuck inside the unit, how do I remove it and buy a new top?
Cut mopping time in half and bonus of cleaning carpets – Instead of having to first sweep or vacuum hard floors, the Crosswave will both vacuum and mop at the same time. The salesperson suggested that I first sweep my floors as the Crosswave might not be as good a regular vacuum, however I found that it did the job fine! The thoroughness of the mopping was the equivalent to a regular mop - so they don't… Read more
come up like you have hand scrubbed them. I have laminate floors and they came up streak free and clean.
The machine uses quite a bit of solution, and is heavy when the clean water tank is full. I also wish the lead was longer.
My carpets came up nice and refreshed. Probably not as a good as getting them professionally cleaned, but they were close enough that I won't now bother getting my carpets done professionally anymore/or maybe one day invest in a Bissel machine that's dedicated to cleaning carpets.
The cleaning of the machine after use is a bit fiddly and does eat into the time Ive saved by using it.
Overall I'm very happy with it, but I'd consider it a bit of a luxury/convenience purchase

Know better, choose better.
Time saver – This machine cleans the floor adequately and is definitely a time saver. I have a very large tiled area which I previously had to either sweep or vacuum before mopping. The Crosswave saves me double the work. The reason I have not given it more stars is because it is very heavy to manoeuvre and move from one area to another plus the amount of… Read more
parts that need cleaning when finished. There are two tanks with tops to be cleaned, a filter and the roller and roller cover. Despite this I am quite happy with my purchase.
Pretty good but needs accessories!!! – Does a good job but it needs some accessories for the sides and corners Performance is an standard and suction pretty good. Light and easy to maneuver Saves time as it vaccumes and mop at the same time Very happy with this purchase Highly recommend this one for someone who needs to save time . Show details
