after talking with a bissell rep advising exactly what i was after what type of floors i have. they suggested this one. i have a 10 month old grandson i watch and wanted to make sure my floors are super clean. this one is amazing. it cleans with normal or super heat, has a scrubber for things that are stuck but the best feature is it dries so… Read more

I purchased this because I was not satisfied with the Shark steam mop that was leaving swirls all over my timber floor . Assembly was pretty easy and I had it working in a few minutes. I used the soft pad for it's first excursion on a floor that had been cleaned a week earlier with the Shark. First thing I noticed , it was harder to push… Read more
around than a rotary mop , and also you have to hold the trigger in to get the steam to flow and it sounds like a automatic coffee machine as the pump and heater does it's stuff .
In regards to the trigger I solved this issue in a few seconds using the same method I use on my pressure cleaner, and that is ,I applied a cable tie to the trigger which you can slip on and off with ease, goodbye fatigue.
The water filler clips to the front of the unit so you don't lose it and the scented disk slips into place without a hassle.
As far as cleaning goes it did a good job, leaving it's own faint push marks on the floor , not as bad as the swirls but still if you look hard enough you will see it.
The unit also comes with a carpet sled which fits on the bottom of your machine and lifts the pad off the carpet .
This is to refresh the carpets not actually clean them , so it's something I will never use.
I have included a photo of the grime it lifted off the floor in one pass, not bad considering it had already been cleaned.
Also a couple of photos to show the use of the cable tie.

A word of warning. I used this on sealed timber floors and it worked fine, however, after applying a high gloss finish to two of my floors I noticed that the steam mop melted the coating and dragged it around leaving marks which I had to buff off . I would say you could still use it but maybe just wet the mop and try it with out the steam .
Prior to purchasing this at Harvey Norman on 30/03/25 I had, for 10+years, a Haan Multi SI-A70 steam cleaner purchased online. I loved it as it did a wonderful job of cleaning the floors, getting into corners etc due to the design of the base. Floors dried quickly and the pads were more efficient. Sadly the engine failed and the company no… Read more
longer has a presence in Australia. The Bissell fails miserably in comparison. Due to the design of the base it does not get into corners, the pads are thicker and therefore leaving more residual water on the floors; therefore they take longer to dry. Overall it is shorter in length and thus my back hurts. You have to hold onto the trigger for steam and it all seems mickey mouse in comparison. Having read all the reviews re steamer failing and folks receiving replacements I wonder if I am going to be one of those folks. I am using demineralised water, as recommended.
Bissell power fresh sanitiser 1979h – I'm just about to buy another one as I can't find anything better. My first one stopped steaming after about a year and was replaced under warranty by Harvey Norman. The other night my replacement stopped steaming again and it's just out of warranty. As the steamer has stopped again I did look into other mops and I've been reading all the… Read more
reviews and checking them out in the shop s. I was looking into a power scrubber. I'm still thinking about the shark which friends have said that they like and which seems to have good reviews.
However with a 3-year warranty and knowing it does a satisfactory job on my tiles I think I'll go with another Bissell.
I've found it does a pretty good job, and I like the scrubbing attachment for food that's stuck to the floor. The cord is nice and long and the mopping area is quite large compared to some others so it doesn't take long to mop my tile floors and bathroom.
I have to fill the water tank a couple of times but that's not a big drama. I do find the mop a little heavy especially now I have a bad back. Pads is easy to attach and goes in the washing machine.
The one thing I do dislike on it is that it doesn't stand upright well and frequently falls over.
Would recommend – I bought this at Harvey Norman last week. It cleans incredibly well. It is hard to Puch on my vinyl plank flooring tho, but it's the best thing I've found in 5 years to clean them. I have dogs, and live on acreage,so the mess is terrible. It lifts grime and mud out of the textured surface of the planks. So much so,it's almost embarrassing. I do… Read more
struggle pushing it,but then, I am older and have a very bad back,so any floor cleaning is an issue. I bought a bissell crosswave for that reason, and it's rubbish. The steam mop cleans far better
Not happy at all with this product – Bought our first one for $279.00 within 6 months it stopped working. Bissell replaced it and then within 4 months the same thing happened again. The customer care support line was not helpful at all. In fact they keep telling us to do the same thing over and over again without any success. Not happy at all with this product! Show details
Great product – Great product, shifted built up soap scum from tiles fairly easily. Rather than buy expensive replacement pads (2 for $30) get a pack of 36 microfibre towels from Costco for $25 , works just as well if not better, you just need to tape the towel together or use a safety pin. Great Steam mop – I have had my steam mop for almost 3 yeas and absolutely love it! We have a large tiled home and i use filtered water ( as our water is terrible) And i cant fault it! You do have to hold the trigger down constantly but does a great job. No streaks and dries fast. Show details
Good while it worked – It was good while it worked. Tiled floors were immaculate. The problem is that it started playing up (cutting out) around about the 12 month mark, we went to a manual mop for a couple of months while navigating through Bissell help, it worked again for about 1 month then stopped working altogether after after 22 months. I'd never buy a Bissell… Read more
steam mop again based on that. It's a shame because we have the shampoo cleaner and it has been good.
Stopped working twice!! – Bought the first one for $300, steam stopped working after 6 months had it replaced under warranty and was told we couldn’t replace it again. 6 months later the same issue, No Steam!!! Recommend looking for another brand! Show details
Fantastic Steam Mop – Before this steam mop I had the Bissell steam mop model that was before this model. I was impressed with it and it did a great job that when the pump finally failed I decided to just upgrade to the new version. I am glad I did and it seems they have fix the design issue that was with the last model which has made me even happier. The issue I had… Read more
with the last model was the water tank. It was something you removed and had to unscrew the cap to fill up. However I found at least once a year I had to buy a new cap as it would weaken each time it was used until it would snap in half. This new model however has removed this and change it to a in built tank with a flip lid and just fill up which I love and now I don't need to stress about breaking the cap.
I find the tank is also a good size. With my old model I need to refill it at least once when doing my whole house. With this model I never have to refill and there is still water in the tank when I am done. Most of my house is tiles and is a large area so that impresses me as I don't need to stop to refill. If you do need to refill the tank a good feature with this mop is you do not need to wait for the water to reheat, you can fill up the tank and just keep going which saves time.
I find it does a great job cleaning my floors without having to put any real effort into it. I have 5 inside cats, an inside dog and 2 children (plus my husband) so my floor does get dirty. I like that you can easily using a foot pedal remove the head and it becomes a jet steam of steam with a handy brush so if you come along something that would mop away easily you can scrub it off then reattach the head to mop over and wash it away - all without having to bend over once which is good for people who may have back issues.
I found the floor dies quickly after I use this mop on maximum setting. Within a few minutes 90% of the floor will be dry after mopping which is great if you are quickly doing a mop before guests arrive and you leave it to the last minute like I tend to do.
It does come with a slider you can place it in to go over your carpet to refresh it from smells. I have never really used this feature with my old model or this model so I can not really comment on that feature.
I do wish you didn't need to hold onto the trigger as it can be uncomfortable over a period of time and it would be nice if it had a on off button you just pressed. It does have a long cord however I do wish it was longer. To save myself from having to unplug it and plug it in as I move around the house I just use an extension lead - however these are the only downside I have found.
If you are after a well priced steam mop that does a really good job then this is def the steam mop for you.
Super product – Not sure how anyone can give this thing less than five stars - gives outstanding results, is very reasonably priced - is very durable - just an awesome bit of gear - love it. Show details
Great Mop! – I wanted to upgrade my kmart steam mop which I'd had for two years. After some research I chose the bissell powerfresh deluxe steam mop and boy what a game changer! I absolutely love everything about this mop, my tiled floors have never looked so good! Show details
Find out how Bissell PowerFresh Deluxe 1979F compares to other Steam Mops & Hard Floor Cleaners
Know better, choose better.
Not the greatest – Water tank only fits 400ml not 560ml. Unit is very unstable & falls over too easily. Only time unit actually steams is when the trigger is pressed. Supposed to not hold trigger all the time but doesn’t steam unless you do. Floor left bit wet. Show details
save your money – Contacted Bissell because I assumed my unit was a dud, only to be told it wasn't. My mop struggles to keep steam and I have to keep releasing the squeeze handle every 5 seconds and wait at least another 10 seconds for the steam to build up each time. It also makes a knocking sound like its struggling to create steam. There definitely seems to… Read more
be something wrong but apparently this is "normal" according to customer service when I called to complain. I've watched demo videos and mine does not steam like theirs. Buy another brand, my last mop was far steamier and worked better than this piece of junk.
I love this mop ! – Prior to purchasing, I had owned a monster mop. I had endless problems and after 2 years it stopped working. Did some research and this recommendation came up. It’s absolutely brilliant at cleaning! After just one use my floors are transformed. I love the scrubbing brush as it has transformed my grout. Positives : Heats up quick Flexible swivel… Read more
head Easy to switch to scrubbing brush for tricky spots, grout and tough stains. Long cord. Scented discs smell fantastic
Cons: You have to hold your finger on the trigger release constantly whilst cleaning.
leaves water streaks – Doesnt produce much steam even on the highest settings. Leaves water streaks, a scrub brush followed by a mop does a much better job on my tile floors. A waste of time and money Show details
Good, but steaming continuously leaves water streak – The promise is good, i.e steam mopping the floors. However to get the steam out, I have to press the steam trigger continuously, which is fine. However, doing this leaves the mop pad wetter and wetter as you mop your house. At the end, the floor (we are on porcelain tiles) are really wet and leaves water streak. I thought it's a faulty but when I… Read more
contacted support, they say I need to only use the steam trigger every now and then, and not continuously (i.e 10 secs using it, and 10 secs without). It's fine, but I thought we are buying this steam mop for..well, steam mopping? If I don't press the steam trigger, there is no steam coming out - so I guess it's a half-half solution (e.g regular mop vs steam mop)
Once you get the balance going (when to press the trigger to steam and when not to), it's good but wish they can improve this somehow
Performs well! – Love my Powerfresh - I was looking for something to clean my tiles without using chemicals, and after much research of various steam mops this one for the money was a winner for me. The pads attach via elastic which is great, and aren’t cheap Velcro ones which rolls under like on other mops. And all you need is tap water, no detergents to add in… Read more
order to sanitise. Love the swivel head, and it’s a nice large mop head which means I end up getting the cleaning done quicker. It glides really easily over the tiles, and I manage to get all my three tiled rooms cleaned on a single tank - which can be refilled without having to turn the mop off and waiting for it to cool. Whole heartedly recommend!!
Excellent steam mop, was everything I wanted for my huge house full of tiles – I moved into a house with tiles that I don't think had ever been properly cleaned, the grout looked black in most places but I could see it was white in the corners. The picture speaks for itself, the scrubbing attachment worked wonders. Heats up extremely fast, no downtime when you need to fill it back up and the tank seems to last forever. Great mop. Do Not Buy Bissell Products – On April 16, 2019 I bought a Bissell PowerFresh Liftoff Steam Mop. It worked ok until it broke down in July 31, just over 3 months later. I used the mop 12 times to clean our VERY clean home. When we initially purchased the Bissell Steam Mop we advised the staff at Godfreys of our intended usage, & they claimed it would suit our needs perfectly. … Read more
I initially contacted Godfreys when the mop ceased working, since we had purchased the mop from them in the first place. Godfreys washed their hands of the faulty mop very swiftly and informed us that we needed to contact Bissell, who would want us to return the mop to their head office, so they could examine it and decide what to do next.
By this time I was agitated at having to explain the entire situation to yet another person (I’d already been passed around Godfreys several times) & contacted Bissell. Again, I explained the whole situation & the customer service representative (her name was *****) sent me a new mop which arrived 7 days later. However, the first time we used the mop to clean our floors it was faulty. It’s clear we were sent a reconditioned mop which hadn’t been checked properly prior to recycling it. Again, I contacted ***** and explained the issues to her, including video evidence of the issue, clearly showing the blockage in the pipe. ***** informed me that she would send through a packing label for me to go into an Australia Post office to return the second faulty mop to Bissell. ***** advised me that as soon as the tracking number from the label was registered with Australia Post a new mop would be sent to me immediately.
I returned the mop on November 29 (due to severe ongoing health issues). I advised ***** that the mop had been returned. Four days later ***** replied to my email asking that I send proof of lodgment with Australia post. I sent the proof of lodgment as requested, I attached a photo of the receipt from Australia Post. ***** then advised me that she was unable to track the consignment note number, even though I followed the directions she sent me for returning the mop.
Almost 2 weeks later ***** emailed me advising that she was waiting to hear from the warehouse confirming that they had received the 2nd faulty mop. After following the Bissell return policy exactly as outlined we should not be held liable if Australia Post lost the mop or Bissell Warehouse staff did not do their job properly - none of this should have any bearing in whether or not our faulty mop is replaced! We were sent a defective product.
By now I’m infuriated, this has been an ongoing issue for several months now. We paid $299.00 for a mop 6 months ago and it only worked for 3 months. We’ve had TWO faulty mops from Bissell and they’ve been reluctant to assist us. After 3 months of trying to have our mop replaced or refunded we contacted Bissell’s Australian Head Office today. I spoke with the receptionist ****** & explained that we’ve been having issues with faulty mops and that I wanted to speak to someone who could actually resolve this issue once and for all. I was put through to *** *****. Was I upset by now, you bet I was! We feel we’ve been more than fair while working with Bissell to resolve this issue, only to be met with obstructions every step of the way. Bissell has been very unhelpful and has made us jump through hoops to simply get a mop that isn’t faulty! They have our money now, why would they want to help us? Anyway, from the outset *** was rude, bristly and dismissive, which antagonised me further. I became quite upset and asked for a refund. ***’* responses to me were snide and churlish. *** claimed that she “didn’t have to help me at all” & wouldn’t help me if she didn’t want to. *** was laughing at me & threatening me. When I asked her for a refund she told me that I wouldn’t be getting a refund, repeating that she “didn’t have help me if she didn’t feel like it”. Her manner was unlike anything I’ve ever come across in my 51 years of life, she was derisive & openly mocking me & I was gobsmacked. How she has a customer facing role in the company absolutely beggars belief! I have never encountered such a discourteous and offensive customer service representative in my life. I asked for her manager’s name and she simply replied “****”, I had to press her for ****’ surname. I called back & asked to speak with **** & was told that he was “in a meeting”, only after ***** quizzed me on my surname. Apparently, **** will not speak to anyone unless he knows their surname. The Bissell company culture is frankly abhorrent.
I still don’t have a mop & Bissell still has my $299 & they claim they don’t intend to do anything about it if they “don’t feel like it”. I have been mopping with an old fashioned mop & bucket for the past 3 months. Steer well clear of this company’s products, they are frequently faulty. Bissell is unwilling to help you once they have your money & will openly mock you. Buyer beware!
Effortless cleaning – Amazing cleaning using the steam feature, even caked in grease from the kitchen floor comes out in a couple of strokes, no need to rub or kneel down to clean!!! Absolutely amazing and the whole floor surface looks like new!! Worth every cent!!! The floor is left dry after cleaning, the cord is sufficiently long to cover the whole area and you don't need to refill the tank, it is big enough for a big area!! Show details
Quiet system but works a treat – Just bought it from Turners and works super good. Didnt leave my floor wet for long compared to my old ones and no streaks. Impressed with the long cord and lightless. You get what you pay for. Show details
Very disappointed – I bought this mop 2 weeks ago with high expectation Tried it out today, it left my floor very wet When the floor dried, it left streak marks I can hear the steam but can't see it coming out of the mop It is such a waste of money. I would not recommend this. Will contact the store to see if I can return it Show details
