For a $99 steam mop this is fantastic! It has a large rectangle head -easy to reach edges/corners. Easy to fill bottle and is just so bloody simple and coat effective- leaving the floor clean and streak free with NO wet spots. Show details

Bought this after reading good reviews and am am not a fan. You have to constantly pump the handle to produce the steam. The steam not being continuous then means it leaves water marks dried all over the floor as you’re just dragging a wet mop around at some points. It was all I could afford at the time but I wouldn’t recommend it. Also I… Read more

have to have an extension cord attached to it at all times as the cord is way too short to get around more than one room.

It is light and easy to maneuver but I have used better honestly. That said, for $100 what’s to be expected?

I was just surprised in my experience after reading such great reviews. It definitely didn’t live up to the hype. Maybe those people are comparing to a mop and bucket rather than a steam mop in which case it is a step up.

Waste Of Money, Tried 3X Then Took to Dump – Bought at Myer half price mid 2022, used 3X. It slopped water everywhere, steam was minimal, mop got dirty but the floor was left so wet, it had to be dried with towels or bathmats to avoid hazard. Don't have the proof of purchase anymore but felt this experience should be shared. Show details

At last, a steam mop that works at a great price – Sick of buying steam mops that don't do the job... Hubby has just come home with this Shark mop and I love it! On one tank of water I've cleaned my bathrooms, lounge room, kitchen, hall & laundry. I love that I control the steam release instead of it permanently steaming. The mop heads are great quality and really pick up the dirt. Floors dry within a few seconds with NO streaks...Yay! No more dog crap dragged around the floors! Show details

Great mop. Would buy again – Just bought this at a great price. Very easy to use. Steam comes out through the backward and forward mopping motion. Mop cloth is very easy to attach and remove and wash. Will stand up by itself which stops the steam fro coming out. Floor is left damp and really clean. The water tank could be bigger but is not a major issue. Love this steam mop! Show details

A Good buy at a reasonable price – Purchased this product and I am very pleased with this product. I find that the cord is slightly shorter than I'd thought so I just added an extension cord to it and its fine. I find it very light because I have arthritis it doesnt leave my wrist hurting like a normal mop does. It leaves the floor quite dry after use. You have to refill the water tank per room. The pads are great I just put them in the wash after each use. Show details

Good job – I have a very small 3 bedroom house. I used my steam mop only once so far but I am impressed with how good it was. The best thing I found was that the floor is pretty much dry instantly which is a bonus as using my normal mop takes the floor forever to dry. I didn’t have to refill the water tank and it only took 3/4 of the tank to do my entire… Read more

Don't believe everything you read – I can't believe any genuine buyer would write a glowing review about this product. I was diappointed from first use and have now gone back to an old fashioned mop and bucket. I find that I need to constantly go over the floor to get it clean as one wipe is not enough. The tank will need to be refilled during use, not just between uses. It's very… Read more

tedious having to manually pump to get steam. I don't like having to hand wash the dirty mop pad or put something so filthy in the washing machine with my clothing or running a wash cycle just for the mop pad. It leaves streaks and it could use a longer cord. I regret buying this and have barely used it. Total waste of money.

Good little unit for the price, arthritis friendly – I have an arthritic condition and need a lightweight mop that is easy to operate. The Shark Mop S1000 fits the bill. have a relatively short power cord but any longer would be cumbersome as you do need to hold it sometimes to keep it off the wet floor. Some reviews have said the water unit is difficult to remove, but I found this to be easy if you angle the unit (as per instructions). On the downside, steam is only released from one outlet in the middle of the mop so the mop edges do not provide as effective a clean (e.g. when cleaning around door frames). But overall provides a good result that is superior to a spray mop & much easier than using a squeeze mop & bucket.

Standup and take a bow – Choose this mop as it was the only one in the lower price bracket that could stand up without having to be lent against furniture or a wall, having a back injury this was a big plus for me, that’s the good point what lets the mop down is it’s short power cord and it’s overall flimsy construction but for the price OK Show details

Works as expected – Good steam mop for price. A little awkward at first getting used to steam output but otherwise cleans as expected. Floors aren’t left too wet and dry quickly after use. Water tank lasts whole house without needing to refill. Cord length average for steam mops, has to be unplugged once or twice to do whole house.  Show details

Underwhelming Steam Mob – The Shark S1000ANZ is an entry level Steam Mop, and as per the instruction sheet, to be used for ‘sanitizing’ floors. I think the term sanitising is used because it is not really intended to tackle particularly dirty floors, nor large floor areas. I say entry level, because the price was around $129 on various Australian websites. Out of the… Read more

box, the Shark is easily assembled and there are only a few parts to click together as a part of the assembly. The unit does not have a trigger to switch steam on and off, instead the unit handle moves up and down to activate the steam function. There are two washable pads included which contain both soft and harder fibers. The pads attach to the base plate by way of Velcro fasteners.

The water tank is small and contains about 250ml of water. It clicks in and out of the body of the unit for filling, however it does require quite some force to be removed, and is therefore an aspect of use which may cause a premature breakage.

The mop was tested on ceramic floor tiles with 3.0mm grout spaces in wet areas including bathrooms and toilets. For the grout, I was hoping that the steam would loosen staining in the light-colored grout which had built up from the floors being mopped. In short, the steam did not loosen the discoloration on the grout and even when a stiff hand brush was used, the result was only fair.

On an existing clean tiled floor, for a quick sanitising freshen up, the Shark unit does what is expected without the use of chemicals. However, stay in the room too long, and the floor will be wetter than with the use of a standard mop with a sponge head. Upside is that no buck of water is required.

Pros in favor of the unit include: the swivel head which moved around the base of a toilet much better than a fixed head mop; a minimum number of moving parts; light in weight; the price point; ease of assembly; and a reasonable length of power cord.

Cons not in favor of the unit include: only one steam outlet in the center of the head; small water tank of about one cup; very hard to remove the plastic water tank; steam is not actuated by trigger; a warning not to leave the unit standing whilst hot (hang it up I guess) for fear of damaging the floor surface; and to the reviewer’s displeasure, does not have any effect on dirty tile grout.

In summary, if one has a young child still crawling, the unit may be something to consider to sanitize a family room floor without the use of chemical cleaners. Other than that, it is just one more item to take up room in the broom cupboard, and this reviewer would find a bucket and mop better value more versatile .

A small unit with big cleaning power – The Shark was very easy to assemble and get ready for its first test. At first glance I did not think I would be able to cover much of my floors without having to continuingly refill the water tank but to my surprise the water went a lot further then I expected. Even with a full water tank the Shark Steam Mop is still light weight and easy to use.… Read more

I found that when attaching the cleaning pad it is best to allow an overhang at the front so that this can be used to get in close to the edge of the walls and corners of the room. I really like that the pad can be used over and over again and being made of study material I expect to get many years of use from it. I rinsed the pad out to remove anything large that may have been picked up when cleaning then washed the pad in the washing machine, a front loader. The pad came out very clean and still looked new after several washes. I have worked out that I can use the pad to do the whole house before it needs a wash so there was no stopping and starting again. The pad is easily attached and removed due to the heavy duty velcro. Once plugged in the steam is ready to use in quick time. The shark glided easily over both my tile and linoleum floors and the pump action of the handle allowed me to apply steam whenever I needed to and I could add more steam if required on any heavily dirty areas. The handle on the Shark is at a good height so that even at 6 foot (183 cm) tall I could easily hold onto it without having to bend and end up with a sore back like some other models. The first area I washed, with only one full water tank, was approximately 80 square metres which covered my lounge room, dining and rumpus area and kitchen. So in all I could wash all my floors with only 2 refills of the water tank but I have to note that I have a very large floor area house. This is still far better than having to empty and refill a heavy mop bucket of water several times. I was very impressed that the floors were very clean without leaving them really wet which meant they dried quickly and you could walk on them within minutes even on cold days. Equally impressive was that I could get right up to the wall skirting, using the overhang of the pad, and also into the corners of the walls this meant I no longer had to get down and use another wet cloth to get those corner areas, another bonus that I do not have to bend down as often and no more back pain after cleaning. The only two places I still had to do this was to clean behind the toilet bowls but even my mop has trouble doing this. For the times that I did not want to move all the furniture to do a clean the Shark pad could easily glide under the front edge of my low lounge chairs. The power cord is a good length for most areas but I did attach an extension cord so that I could cover large areas at a time and this did not cause any issues. As a summary: 1: The water tank covers a large area before needing a refill, 2: The floor is not left very wet and dries quickly, 3: The cleaning pad will do a large area and is easy to clean in your washing machine as long as you give it a good rinse first to remove any large particles. 4: The cord length is good for the average home but there are no issues with using an extension cord. 5: The Shark is quick and easy to plug in to do small areas if required. You only have a short wait time for the steam to be ready for use. 6: The Shark Steam Mop S1000ANZ is excellent and makes cleaning easy and quick. Time to throw out the mop and bucket.

Really pleased with this cleaner! – So far we have used the Shark Steam Cleaner on laminated timber floor boards and ceramic tiled floors. Kitchen, laundry, casual eating area and entrance area. I already have another steam mop, which was inherited and really wasn't that effective, leaving dirty marks on the floor. It was also heavy and I didn't look forward to using it. Another… Read more

steam mop I had about 18 years ago was too hard to use and damaged my laminated floor with too much heat. Consigned to hard waste. Accordingly, I normally used a mop and bucket, because it gave a better result and was actually less work. Although the floors were left dangerously wet.

What I have observed so far (pros I guess): The packaging top flaps showed in graphics how to set the device up straight away - it all just clicks together. Good if you don't like reading manuals. The information here was as good as any I have ever seen on a product package. Better than the usual guesswork with multi-lingual hieroglyphics. This appliance is really light and easy to maneuver around furniture and walls. Now here is the main observation; the amount of dirt that came off what I thought were reasonably clean floors was a surprise and in a way, shocked me! I have attached a photo that shows what I took off the floor after one run around the kitchen/eating/laundry/entrance area. Compare to a new pad. Almost embarassing. The amount of water and thus steam was easy to regulate once I got used to the "pumping forward" action of the mop, which delivered the steamy water to the cleaning pad. Once I had worked this out, I got the correct amount of wetting of the floor and it was completely dry after a few minutes. Again, better compared to my old machine, which left floors extremely wet for up to 30 minutes, depending on the day. I got all of my areas done before I had to refill the tank, I feel that what others have mentioned as a smaller tank gave the benefit of the cleaner being lighter to use. Maybe different for me since most of my floors are carpeted. Similar length of use as my old steam cleaner but this one actually worked. The power cord length was good for one largish room, only short by about 600 mm for the far side of my eating area. But it was easy to just plug in again at another powerpoint on the other side of the room and it reheated quickly. Cleaning pad is easy to unhook, being held by nylon hooks (velcro) and washed easily in my washing machine. Having read some of the other reviews, I will try it out on shower wall tiles next, to remove soap scum. The price of this item is far below the other steam cleaner I inherited.

Slight issues below (not really cons): The pumping action was a bit strange for a few minutes, but then it became natural in the stroking motion of the mop across the floor. The captured material in the cleaning pad was a bit hard to wash out, but this was because it came from oily cooking splatter. Clean in warm water, in my case. My fault, not Shark's. The pad needs to be washed every use, or it would deposit material back on the floor as it "melts" off. Again, I think this is a reasonable requirement and there are 2 pads, so just swap them out. With frequent use, they wouldn't be as caked up as my example.

One room at a time – We have accumulated a few different mops in the house. Some are good for soaking up spills and some are good for cleaning a dirty floor, which always appears the day after wiping up a sticky spill. Mopping usually requires the mop and mop bucket filled with warm water and floor cleaner. That is a bit too much effort and the quick fix is to soak… Read more

up the spill with paper and then clean the dried floor the next day with a spray and a wipe. Today we are testing out the Shark Steam mop S1000ANZ as an addition to the existing crew of mops, or a possible replacement for one. Unpacking, we notice some very good graphics on the outer box. The inside tabs have quick start information with diagrams. We get the overview while we unpack it. The steam mop is easily clicked together without second thoughts. We also read through the Owner's Guide instruction booklet to be thorough, but we already knew what we were doing. The mop head has removeable cloth pads, which is very sensible for soaking clean. The mop head doesn’t require dipping in a bucket because it receives hot steam pumped from the mop handle, which leaves it damp. The removeable water reservoir (filling with tap water is OK) is about a third of a litre and the mop only needs to heat up the water that is being pumped to the mop head. The entire steam mop is very light in weight because it doesn’t need to hold a large heavy preheated hot water tank. The steam mop requires AC power and the power cord is about 17 feet (over 5 metres) long. This length is ideal for one room. Some people might consider that a really long power cord and really large water tank is needed, but as we use this steam mop, we can appreciate the light weight and the ideal sized water tank, that provides enough water to steam the pad, for each room. Refilling the water reservoir for the next room is OK because we also change power points for the next room. We now have to clean a sticky dry floor from a previous spill. This Shark steam mop is ready to use in less than a minute. We don’t need to get a bucket of warm water or floor cleaner because this Shark steam mop has a pad that is designed to pickup the sticky mess and leave a clean floor. It did the job, the floor looks clean enough from a few quick passes. The Shark steam mop leaves a slightly damp floor, but not too wet to walk on. The Shark S1000ANZ steam mop is safe to use. If we leave it in its standing position, it will stop producing steam until the handle is pumped a few times. It doesn’t have complicated pumping levers or on/off switches. It doesn’t produce a dangerous amount of hot water, it doesn’t shoot out a burning hot jet of steam. It is intuitive to use, it automatically pumps the steam to the mop head as we move the mop back and forth in the natural mopping motion. We don’t have to bend down, it can reach under the coffee table. We also used a spray cleaner to squirt the dirtier sections of floor and the steam mop was used over that. We find it ideally suited for the quick clean-up of one room at a time. It will replace some of the other mops in our mop closet. The steam is always sanitising the mop head and that would do a lot to prevent spreading germs as we mop. We must mention sanitising because the instruction booklet recommends multiple mop passes over a specific area if that area needs to be sanitised. As a sanitiser mop for a large floor space, we would want more steam from more steam jets in the mop head to make the task quicker and that would also require a larger water reservoir. Shark brand only has a central steam jet and therefore recommends using the mop 15 times over the same area if it must be sanitised. This would be necessary because the hottest part of the mop head is only in the middle of the mop head where the steam jet sits under the mop pad. If we were mopping the entire house with a normal mop and bucket, we need enough uninterrupted time to prepare and complete the task. The warm water goes cold in the mop bucket if we stop to answer the phone. In comparison, using this Shark S1000ANZ steam mop, we would need to refill the reservoir tank for each room, but that is OK because we can stop and start any time, without wasting time.

Reasonable for most small domestic floor cleaning jobs – We've used the 'Shark' on linoleum with in-grained dirt from dog foot prints, on sealed wooden floors, on ceramic and slate tile floors, and on ceramic wall tiles. Once we got used to the pump-action to initiate steam, the overall cleaning job was reasonable, especially the removal of the soapy film from the wall tiles and the dirt from the… Read more

linoleum. Overall.. Pros.. 1 .. Light and quite manoeuvrable, with a swivelling head. 2 .. Adjustable rate of steam production that relates to the amount of pumping (from moving backwards and forwards on the surface) 3 .. Reasonable cleaning on the surfaces we cleaned, though this could be influenced by how dirty the cleaning head becomes. 4 .. Power cord was a reasonable length for most rooms and power point configurations. 5 .. Cleaning pad was easy to remove and wash. 6 .. Quick to heat the water prior to usage

Cons.. 1 .. The tank holds enough water for not much more than an average room. Obviously there is a trade-off between weight and water tank size, but a bigger tank would have been a plus. 2 .. It takes some time to become used to operating the pump action to regulate the amount of steam. This can lead to either insufficiently cleaned surfaces or overly wet surfaces after cleaning. 3 .. The steam works by dissolving dirt, and the resultant solution is then absorbed by the pad and/or distributed across the surface. This is not a vacuum type of product that draws the dirty water away from the surface, so the cleanliness of the pad does appear to influence the result.

Quick Clean = Shark S1000 : Deep Clean = Prefer a mop – Started off by sweeping and then using the S1000 on the back outside deck (14sq m). Used one tank of water. it, as it was filthy. End result : Cleaner deck but not 'super' clean. Once the cleaning pad had finished soaking, the next jobs were the bathroom and toilet floors. Much better results and a lot less dirt to pick up. Cleaning pad needed a soak, but there was not near as much dirt as when I cleaned the outside deck. After these initial jobs I thought that it was reasonably comfortable to use but if it was cordless, it would be so much better. I did have to use an extension cord a few times to cover the area from the power point/s. The steam output was OK, but hard to notice sometimes. I guess you constantly look at the surface, the pad, look for steam and pump if you see no steam. So its a process, but you sort of get used to it after a while. The last job was the kitchen and laundry floors which had similar results to the bathroom and toilets. In summary, to do a 'quick' clean I would use the S1000 but to do a deep clean, I would prefer a mop and bucket and a bit of elbow grease.

Doesn't thoroughly clean – This is my review for Shark Steam Mop, model S1000ANZ, "Made In China". My home has rooms with a variety of sealed hard floor surfaces including gloss floor tiles and floating floor boards finished with hard photo finish gloss laminex. The shark mop is made of outer plastic, the metal pole appears to be made of aluminium. There is some assembly… Read more

required and that was done easily enough. I like the rounded mop handle for a better grip. The steam mop body has a built-in power light indicator to show that the power is on but there's no built-in On/Off power switch. The power cord was 5.5 meters long and this length was suitable for my small kitchen and ensuite. When I needed to mop outside of these small rooms I had to attach an extension lead.

I did sweep the floors before I used the steam mop.

I filled the water tank with distilled water. I let the steam mop heat up and it produced plenty of steam. I steam moped rooms/spaces in my home, including, kitchen, dining room, corridor, bedroom, ensuite and front Entry.

My home had some floor areas which were slightly soiled and I found my self steam mopping over these several times and even doing that the steam mop did a poor job of removing the light dirt. I had to spot treat some floor areas with my favourite surface spray and than going over them with the steam mop.

While steam mopping a few areas the Shark Steam mop felt heavy and I began to have a sore arm and shoulder and I resorted to using both of my arms to steam mop.

Every room that I had steam mopped had left uneven smear, spotty and streak marks. Even when I changed to the second dirt grip pad, the floor was not cleaned to a glossy shiny finish.

Compared to my previously using my squeeze sponge mop on my floors, the squeeze sponge mop did a much better job and left my floors smear or streak free and shiny.

The power cord supplied is attached to the mop body and is low to the ground and I found myself stepping on it and tripping over the cord a few times. I tried to hang the power cord on the upper cord wrap so as to keep it out of my way but it kept falling off.

With the dirt grip pad attached this made the steam mop wobble or unstable. On one occasion the steam mop fell to the floor and was not stable standing up on it's own. I left the steam mop standing for a split second ensuring that the mop head was locked in the correct upright position but it still fell backwards. I was concerned that this might've damaged my floor.

The printed Owner's Guide was easy to follow with large print. Although for storage, there was nothing mentioned of what to do with the rest of the water left in the water tank.( I only needed to fill the water tank once).

Overall, I was disappointed with the performance of the Shark Steam Mop. I did not feel that the my floors were sanitized. It just didn't clean my floors thoroughly or as well as my squeeze sponge mop.
