bissell carpet cleaner leaking and unreliable – this is my second bissell carpet cleaner. the first one stopped working. this one has just gotten a major leak in the tank. it is a real disappointment because i spent a lot (huge amount of money when you think about it) of money on a quality carpet cleaner and i have literally only used this about a dozen times and it is now fully useless. i am… Read more

Review of BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Professional – Review of BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Professional I purchased the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Professional, believing it would be a reliable investment for maintaining the cleanliness of my carpets. While the machine itself performed adequately, my experience with BISSELL's customer service has been nothing short of disappointing,… Read more

especially given the machine's premium price. The machine was purchased through Harvey Norman Midland, Western Australia.

The machine began to smoke and exude a burning smell. As it was still under warranty, I contacted Harvey Norman Midland who in turn contacted their supplier -Bissell, expecting a smooth repair or replacement process. To my surprise, BISSELL refused to honor the warranty, citing the presence of hair inside the machine as the reason. The machine had been kept clean but due to the electrical smell, presence of smoke and concerns for my safety, I had taken the machine straight to the store without cleaning it first on this occasion.

This response is absurd, considering that the machine is explicitly marketed as a carpet cleaner. Naturally, it would be used to remove dirt, debris, and hair from carpets, so it’s unreasonable to refuse service based on the presence of hair. Their refusal to repair or replace the machine under warranty contradicts the very purpose of the product and demonstrates a complete disregard for customer satisfaction. At no point did they even try to help.

Furthermore, under Australian Consumer Law, consumers have a right to a remedy if a product fails to meet the guarantees of acceptable quality. This includes situations where a product is not fit for the purpose for which it was sold. Given that BISSELL's refusal to repair or replace my machine under warranty is based on a clearly unjustifiable reason, they are in breach of Australian Consumer Law.

While the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Professional may be a competent machine, the lack of customer support and failure to adhere to warranty obligations makes it a poor choice. I would advise potential buyers to be cautious and consider other brands that prioritise customer service and abide by the Australian Consumer Law.

Loud and heavy but does a great job – I bought this during lockdown in 2020 to clean my carpets and love it. It’s relatively loud and heavy to use, but does a great job at cleaning dirt from carpets. I usually do a deep clean in summer so the carpet dries quicker, and use it year round for express/spot cleans. I’ve only had suction issues when the top cover wasn’t clicked in place… Read more

properly - so I’d take all the reviews complaining about it not sucking up the water from the carpet with a grain of salt. What’s that saying? “A good workman never blames his tools”? Says a lot about the competence of some people.

I recently broke the small purple handle off the cover plate and needed to replace it. Unfortunately I couldn’t purchase the small handle by itself, but I could purchase a whole new cover plate. I was quite surprised with the availability of spare parts, and their low prices compared to some other well known vacuum cleaner brands.

If you have pets (or children) which frequently throw up on your carpet then I recommend having a Bissell carpet cleaner on hand.

Great product, you will use this all the time – I purchased the Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Professional 2457P carpet cleaner about 2 years ago now and its been brilliant. At $549.00 it only takes two uses before it pays for itself instead of professional carpet cleaner. I cleaned the lounge and run over the carpets whenever they look filthy. Its easy to use and clean. My pro tip is give… Read more

the carpet a very good vacuum, don't be afraid to go over areas several times, use the spot button and let soak for a couple minutes. When cleaning, get a straw or zip tie and use it to clean the debris stuck in the front plastic cover. I uploaded a before and after of my boys room, however I can't remember which one is which, so enjoy that guessing game. The photos do not do it justice, we have beautiful soft carpet and it looks, feels and is clean.

Worth the Money – Did lots of research before deciding on the Pro Heat and waited till it was on special at Harvey Norman (Boxing Day sales). Tried it on some rugs first to learn how to use it. Its very easy to use and to clean and does a great job. Check out the before and after pics. High recommendation. Show details

Great carpet cleaner that could be more – I noticed that many people that bought Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution have animals and the reason for purchase is to clean carpets to remove/reduce the smell. I also noticed (thank you to those who shared) that some reports claimed such good results after cleaning carpets that they looked like new. I won’t hide the fact - that was my trigger to… Read more

purchase Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution. In my case, I purchased a 5 year old property that was rented from a new build and not only not treated well, but also pets were allowed. Sadly, after paying all property purchase fees and fixing the most crucial issues I ran out of funds to replace the carpets. No carpets were damaged, they just had a hard short life. After seeing the reports from others I was excited to give my carpets a “new” life with Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution. The good news: it did the trick. I’m happy with the results. At the end of review I’ll provide links for unboxing, first impressions and “tips and tricks” videos. What I liked: It does exactly what it claims. Cleans the carpets, it cleans them well. I didn’t expect “that much dirt” to be extracted from my carpets. It is easy to assemble, operate and store. It is relatively easy to clean. Even though the machine is relatively noisy, if you’d consider what it is doing and means of doing that I’m very satisfied with the operational level of noise. What I didn’t like: It is slightly messy - even with most careful handling there are some water leaks at the end of operation. Those leaks can mess up things. It takes time to learn how to minimise that. Vacuuming carpets is essential for good operation. Even a moderate amount of dust/debris may result in poorer carpet cleaning. The full “tank” of solution will only be enough to give a good clean to one average room. Of course, it uses less in a more economic setting, but cleaning is not as thorough. Chemicals are relatively expensive and not sold in bulk. Or maybe they’re, but I could not find 5, 10 or 20l options to buy in bulk and save. Buying small bottles may become an expensive exercise for larger carpeted households. The manual states that the appliance can also be used on hard floors, but an attachment is really hard to find and the feature is not clearly described or promoted. I understand that Bissell has hard floor dedicated appliances and rather promote them. I just was slightly disappointed by what felt like deliberate fact hiding. Otherwise it would be a superior versatile machine for most households as most houses would have hard floor/carpet areas. It looks like the “what I didn’t like” list is bigger than what I liked, however the reality is not supporting that. I just wanted to highlight those “gotchas” for others to consider. Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution does a fantastic job cleaning up carpets and rugs. Here are videos I created in an endeavour to help others with expectations: Unboxing: https://youtu.be/_XrHxidRBYE Cleaning and first impressions: https://youtu.be/rw98GolS0Jk Tips and tricks: https://youtu.be/CZXW2D2wEdQ All in all I would recommend the appliance to all with naughty pets, “tired” carpets or just for routine/periodic deep carpet cleaning needs.

Great carpet cleaner...except for the factory quality control – Many years ago we used to hire a Britex cleaner to deal with carpet issues (particularly with two large dogs) and so a Bissell cleaner was purchased. This allowed for “instant use” when needed as well as for regular carpet cleaning duties and proved well up to the task. However, the years had passed and it was time for a replacement. Having been… Read more

well satisfied with the performance of the previous Bissell, opted for another one. Thus the purchase of a Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution Max.

The instruction manual provided was well set out with clearly labelled diagrams and text (not something you can say about some instruction manuals these days). It made for an easy and simple explanation of assembling components out of the box, setting up the device to clean, ways to use it in different situations and cleaning materials to use for each particular situation.

I’d like to say the assembly out of the box was simple but my wife and I hit an issue almost immediately when attempting to fill and attach the “Clean Water tank”. Instructions were to fill the container and attach it to the machine, however, simple physics told us this was not possible as there was a 1cm diameter open hole at the bottom (clearly where the liquid was ducted into the machine). In the process of trying to puzzle out how we were meant to attach the tank while keeping the liquid contained within the tank, we looked at our older Bissell which was of a similar design. This one too had an identical 1cm hole in the tank bottom but it was closed off completely with a red valve (see the last two pictures at the bottom of this review showing it with and without the valve). I rang the store we purchased from and they confirmed there should be a valve in that hole. We looked in the box to see if it had fallen out but finding nothing, took it back to the store who replaced the tank with one from a model on display. Closer checking of this valve confirmed it would not have easily come out and should have been built into the tank at some point in its construction.

After that time consuming interruption, we soon had the cleaner up and running and it has performed flawlessly since. Ease of use was tantamount and my wife (the main user by her choice) said it was no harder to use and maneuver than a vacuum cleaner. A bit noisier than a vacuum cleaner but so are any other alternative cleaners we have used. Performance wise, it appears to clean equally as well as the Britex previously did and we would certainly not bother calling out a commercial cleaning service unless there was a particularly catastrophic carpet cleaning event. Our carpets are fairly short pile but really can’t fault how it cleans them. We have used it on some rather fluffy mats too but you do have to watch that it doesn’t suck up long threads and tangle them around the brushes. If there is any downside compared to a commercial cleaner or Britex cleaner, it would probably be the water extraction is not as strong as them. However, this is only a minor issue and easily dealt with by technique when cleaning (particularly not over-saturating the carpet). Also, it’s preferable to choose a sunny day to ensure the carpets are given the maximum assistance when drying.

Bissell prefers you to use their products (naturally) and we have always done so as they don’t appear to be extravagantly priced plus they do the job. Also include is an extension hose and a variety of cleaning heads for stairs and upholstery etc.

PLUS * Reasonably priced cleaner and associated cleaning products * Performs well around the house … particularly if you have dogs or cats * Comes with a variety of tools to assist in cleaning various facets of your home * 3 year warranty * New model has easy removal of head brushes for easier cleaning

MINUS * Factory quality control. How did an obvious valve get left out?

Given the performance of this (and the previous unit) I am happy to continue using the Bissell cleaners. Feel performance is five star but am docking it one star for quality control.

Totally happy with this carpet cleaner – I had been saving for this cleaner for a while and was not disappointed once I purchased it. I found it easy to put together once we unpacked it and was easy to use right away. I have 5 cats and a small inside dog and found this was very good at getting fur out of the bottom of the piles of our thick carpet. It did a great job in removing stains… Read more

and it does not leave the carpet really wet meaning it can dry quickly. I was surprised at how much it has gotten out of my carpet.

I then decided to try it on my suede feeling lounge suite. I didn't think it was that dirty and was shocked to see how dirty the water was from the clean. I found it easy to plug in the hose and it did a great job in getting into the different nooks and areas of the chairs. The lounge looked even better after I washed it.

It stores nice and easy in my broom cupboard meaning it is always ready to use when something happens to the carpet as along with the pets I also have small children. I did however find it hard to clean out the dirty water container as I can't get the inside part all the way out so I can get in and really get all the sand etc out. It doesn't affect the use but I just like having things look nice and clean.

It is a bit loud but then all carpet cleaners I have used are loud but if you have noise sensitive people in your house you may want to encourage them to go outside, close the room up your cleaning or wait until they leave.

Other than those 2 downsides I love this carpet cleaner and have no issues recommending it to anyone who would like to have a carpet cleaner always at home.

Truly a fantastic job – Hi Guys wanted to right a review on carpet cleaners because the Bissell i bought did an amazing job..actually i was shocked at how much more grime it took out of my carpets and mind you i vacuum my carpets twice a week and we do not have pets ... so after much research and thinking we chose the Bissell 2457P twin roller from Harver Normans at… Read more

Mount Gambier ..note twin rollers this is important coz it just washes better.. i have a large home so 6 rooms with carpets and 4 rugs and the bissell did a magnificent job..it has the dual tanks for clean water to go in and dirty water to go out and you see the results... argggg..gross...who would think one would get such grand satisfaction at seeing such filth.. now yes i did wash my carpets by mop and bucket took for ever and was tired of doing it that way...alright so i took about 8 hours over 2 days and yes my right shoulder did hurt because it is a heavy machine but you want a job well done...you need to preheat the water only preheat and then the machines keeps the water warm as you wash the carpets ..cant remember how long it took between emptying dirty tanks but i think that is subject to the person and how long they take to do an area ... again Harvey Norman came to the party with price ...Harvey Norman never fails its customers we did pay $549.00 and i think it retailed higher but cant remember actual price..irrelevent we would have paid higher because it is a product worth it...3 year warranty..so if you are wondering give this product a try and you will not be disappointed..another point i actually noticed but i do not know if its just me but i reckon the carpets came up softer fluffier...Suzi

Misleading information on Bissell website and cumbersome slow customer service – I was excited to receive the Bissell 2457P carpet washing machine after thorough research and seeing that it would be suitable to wash my wool loop, low pile carpet. The machine was too aggressive for my carpet. It pulled up the fibres, leaving a matt of attached fibres across the surface of my brand new carpet. This machine is not suitable for… Read more

all low pile 100% wool carpets and there is no warning on the Bissell website or in the instructions. In the attached image, the top is my new carpet and the bottom shows where the Bissell 2457P went over. Complaints to customer service was slow and cumbersome. It took 3 WEEKS and numerous back and forward emails with no resolution. Bissell customer service is terrible. Emails are cut and paste, previous messages not read, the same information given over and over, and my questions were not understood and/or answered. Finally I rang the Bissell Support phone number and asked to speak to a Bissell representative in Australia. Initially I tired to go through Bissell for a refund and to get my carpet repaired. After supplying photographs of the damage, the machine, the detergent used, Bissell still insisted that I pay the return postage. It seemed that the repair of my carpet was would be an even more complicated process. In the end I contacted the seller, who was an unauthorised seller. They quickly sent me a return shipping label, and as soon as the product arrived, I received a full refund including my initial postage. I was contacted for arrangements for the repair of my carpet. Everything through the seller was arranged immediately with no expense to me. As a result of this terrible experience I've done some research on vacuuming and washing wool loop carpets. Ive learnt that these carpet types have unique cleaning requirements. For vacuuming, a soft less aggressive brush is preferred and washing is best done with suction only, no brushes. When I finally spoke to Australian Bissell representative, they didnt even seem to be aware of the unique cleaning requirements of wool loop carpets. They still seemed to think that the Bissell machine should be fine on wool carpets, despite all my photographs to show otherwise! This seems to suggest a low product knowledge for cleaning all types of carpet. The message: Bissell website is not accurate on the website, for example whether their machines are suitable for wool loop carpets and Bissell Customer Service for this machine was terrible. I have since purchased a Sebo machine.
