These are excellent dash cams even if some are fairly expensive

published

Have owned 6 Blackvue cameras from an original DR400 Korean vers to a 750S. Have had little trouble from any of them and the 590 is no exception. Am using it as a rear camera in my SUV and has as good an image as the 750 and gives no trouble. Replaces a DR450 in which the memory battery died and had to be replaced. It also has good image quality for a basic camera Am using 200GB cards in them
My 400 still works as does the 450
They are quite easy to install except for getting into taildoors on SUV's
Footage is good quality and plates are easily readable if footage is paused.
I dont worry about Wifi or the Cloud

Purchased in November 2020 for $285.00.

It is easy to set up using its manual. The quality of picture is pretty good. One of the thing I do not like about this one is I have to remove the SD card when I want to check the footage. I should go with the one that has build-in wifi.

Purchased in January 2020 at Dash Cams Australia for $224.00.

Poor reliability and customer service

published

Relatively easy to set up, their PC software is hot garbage though.
I have two of the DR590-1CH and one developed the well-documented "Russian boot loop" error after 18 months and a 33 degree day.
Blackvue stated that I will have to pay for a repair.
Not a product suited to Australian climate and certainly not a product the company stands behind. Spend your money elsewhere.

Purchased in April 2018 for $450.00.

DR590-2CH (2 Channel)

I have had my DR590-2ch with B-112 Power Pack for over 2 years now. It was working fine for the first year or so but it lost the correct date & time stamps started maybe half a year ago. The date and time remained as when the device was disconnected with power last time. It may be because the internal RTC battery was dead after I did some research online. So I bought an external GPS antenna and hope i can use the sync with GPS time function on the firmware setting to sync the gps time automatically without relying on the RTC battery. I think the antenna is working fine as I can see the speeds were recorded on the video and the little gps blue light on the device was on when the gps signal was locked. But the date and time were still wrong. Can anyone help fix the date and time issue? Many thanks in advance.

G. Hi
G. Hi

If you are handy with a fine soldering iron you can replace the little battery and it only costs about $3 The models I have had ,even with inbuilt GPS dont resync the time when they start up The battery is this one.

Im not sure I can do it. And the batteries seem all from China. It takes forever to arrive Australia. Do you know anywhere else in Australia sells this little battery?

How hard is it to turn off the Audio recording?
When the Audio is switched off does it stay off or do you need to do it at each time you start the car?

You need to do it through the blackvue media player on a apple or Microsoft computer
You download the media player from blackvue website
Once audio is turned off using media player with the cameras sd card inserted in computer it will stay off until u change it,
