Nice camera but poor performance on the GPS. Setup was dead easy, connectivity is clunky to say the least and could use improvement. Picture quality is great, no issues there. Camera is advertised as having a built-in GPS however the first camera stopped working in 3 months. It was replaced under warranty with a brand new unit so that's full… Read more
marks for support. However the GPS feature is still poor. It worked when I first connected the new unit, however the next day GPS was off again. After a day of messing about I discovered that GPS on this camera does not work reliably when its raining, or when you are driving between trees, i.e. a country road, or when you are driving through the city with tall buildings on each side. I.E it does not work when you will be most likely to need it. On a sunny day on a flat ground GPS locks within a minute and is fine. BlackVue support have been very helpful going as far as sending a brand new replacement unit, however the product itself seems to be poor. There was mention of possible interference, which I don't buy as camera is mounted on the center of the windscreen well clear of any tinting. Also car GPS and phone GPS done have any issues in the same car and to point out the phone is in my pocket well below the windscreen and no visible path to the sky, yet it still manages to get GPS lock reliably regardless of clouds or trees. In summary if you do not care about GPS and speed timestamps on your video this camera is great. However if you do care about that, this camera is not the one. Lets face it why would you want a high quality camera that does not record GPS location. Just to re-iterate this review is only reflecting the product quality not Blackvue support who have been excellent.

Great image quality and phone connectivity and easy to install – Look, I’m the first to admit I’m a dash camera skeptic. I’m not a fan of having them in my car, and I haven’t had enough instances where I felt I required one in my car. Until now. We were approached by BlackVue and offered the chance to review their range of dash cameras. I opened up a few and their accessories, and settled on the DR750X-2CH… Read more
as the middle of the range camera to test. Personally, the 4K DR900X-2CH is overkill (unless you need to read a long distance license plate), and anything less than 1080p isn’t really worth it.
Another team member here at ProductReview tested the DR590-1CH, which is just a Full-HD front-only camera. It features the Sony Starvis sensor found in the DR750X-2CH for better night vision and quick adaptability to changes in light.
The DR590-1CH is the best bang for buck option in the BlackVue line-up. It’s the most affordable option, however it misses out on the app-connectivity feature. So, you’ll need to remove the SD card and upload clips to your computer.
If you’re okay not having a rear-facing camera, then the DR590-1CH will be the best option for you out of the BlackVue line-up.
Our tester mentioned it makes for a great parking camera, as you’re usually going to be reversed into by someone in a touch-parking incident.
So, I set out to kit up our test car to long term test the DR750X-2CH.
I was kinda hoping to catch some magnificent crash all in the name of content, but sadly there wasn’t any footage that would make it onto an Aussie Dash Camera YouTube channel.
Installation was a breeze for the front camera, for someone who has limited experience installing something like this. I love the included tools that BlackVue provided, helping avoid lifted fingernails and lots of swear words to be said.
The barrel design of the camera is great to hide out of the line of sight, for people like me who hate the look of anything stuck onto the windshield.
Once installed, I immediately went to disable the audio cue that lets you know the camera is recording.
Additionally, if I was to keep the long term camera in here, I would look to pay for someone to properly install it, as this cable leading to the 12V socket is really annoying.
We didn’t have the ability to get the second camera installed, which is intended to face backwards. That’s actually the camera I would prioritise putting into my car, as most accidents are caused by being rear ended while you’re stationary.
So in terms of personal installation, the rear camera will be a little too hard for some to install seamlessly.
The barrel design allows you to easily slip the camera out from its case to remove the SD card, or just connect to the camera via the BlackVue app.
The app was really easy to use, and I loved how you could quickly access clips and download them to your phone. It's useful and simple, rather than having to hunt for an SD card reader.
Prices vary depending on where you buy from, but for around $600 this BlackVue is a little bit of an investment. It’s certainly a worthwhile one if you plan on opting for the BlackVue. Especially in its ability to perform under direct and harsh sunlight.
I personally have found the experience overwhelmingly positive enough to convince me to install one, if I had my own car to put it in. It’s just that added piece of mind just in case you’re not at fault, and someone tries to shift the blame on to you.
If only there was a motorcycle BlackVue camera, I totally would look to put it on my personal bike. As I had to rely on an eye witness when I was last involved with an accident on two wheels.
I would certainly recommend using a BlackVue dash cam, as it’s a reputable brand, with a solid construction and reliable image quality (both day and night). In a market full of unfamiliar brands, the BlackVue stands out as possibly the best option to outfit your car with a dash camera.

Hopefull – Final update: after having the replaced unit checked over by Autobarn, the new unit appears to be functioning as before but i fear the unit failing first time around means something not right with hardware and or software which could happen again. unable to resolve the issue. However, Blackvue Australia organised a speedy resolution and Autobarn again went above and beyond to ensure everything will go smoothly. Hopefully will be resolved in the new year...
Purchased a unit at Autobarn in March 2023, had it professionally installed a few weeks later and was working ok till the app update in Sept 2023. It hasnt worked since and also noted the SD card no longer works even after formatting several times. Many back and forths with Blackvue who regurgitate the manual but no further forward. Appears to be a glitchy wifi hardware issue but they dont admit the fault. Always talks to you every minute or less telling you its recording but may help if you spent another $1000 on sims and batteries etc... Been waiting for a couple of months for a replacement which doesnt seem to be coming. Pretty disappointed to say the least. Very expensive mistake so will be sticking with other brands like Uniden in future.

Would not consider anther brand – The app is simple to use. Quality of footage is excellent. My second hard-wired Blackvue cam's. Had other's,nothing has the Quality/simple app interface that anyone can navigate. Show details
Top Class – These units are a must have, they are set and forget and have excellent image quality. The interface is great, works without a hitch for viewing footage. Show details
Zero stars – I paid a lot for this device thinking it was a quality product. I was wrong. For the first few weeks it worked fine. But for the last few months, it regularly fails to record and fails to store footage. On the occasions it does record, it tells me I don't have permission to view the videos and to contact the account owner. I am the account… Read more

Was fantastic, then along comes a app update – I purchased the 750 for a new car, also purchased the battery pack for parking mode. Was installed professionally and was really happy with it. Although the Dashcam was purchased last july was only installed in mid Dec after waiting for new car to be delivered. Was happy with it at the time. stopped and got details of person hit and said when I could figure out how to download the video would send it to her. Took more than a fair while to figure it out but eventually did. The quality was good and she was happy. The other day was going through my iphone and the app needed to be updated, wouldn't open the old one. Updated it and not good at all. Now cannot seem to be able to access the camera, all it shows is more like social media for Blackvue videos from around the world, it seems to think I live in either North America or the UK and the front page is all about a map for accidents rather than what it was purchased for, my car. Really disappointed as it was not idea before but now its not at all useful the way it stands.
Loved my Blackvue cameras until today – Went to look at incident today when I got home.Had to update.Lost everything. Now when I open App it's full of crap.Used to be cameras downloads etc.Not anymore.Put it back the way it was.Fred K. Show details · 2

AV - DC – Purchased my Blackvue 750X 2CH Dashcam at a super competitive price online from SuoerCheap Auto two weeks ago and had it professionally installed by AV-DC at Panorama. total peace of mind. Would definitely recommend these guys if you want first class workmanship on hardwiring tech. No issues so far with clarity, phone app or reviewing recording. Just one recommendation or issue that was initially annoying and that was the audio advising me that there was an impact each time I switch on the ignition, which is just me going into the garage and opening the door or boot of the car, but that’s just how sensitive the unit recognises movement on opening/ closing. Otherwise we’re impressed and pleased with our purchase and particularly the installation. Cheers
Vision not very good – Would hate to use during an accident. Car could take off and vision would be no good during any investigation. Very pricey for what it is. Hard to pick up wifi Show details

Highly recommend, would buy again – I have purchased this dashcam and wired to my vehicle myself. Installation was easy, and I have since fitted the battery and LTE module. Only problem I've had is with the app itself, requiring that I log out and back in regularly but this is nothing more than a minor inconvenience.
DIY Install for Provisional Driver Safety – UPDATE: 28 April 2026 ... this product has failed. It's draining the battery in my daughter's car so she's been getting stranded and yes we've checked the battery level setting so it should turn itself off. And it's a new battery because we replaced it thinking it was a battery issue. We've also just found the front camera is "foggy", like water… Read more · 2
condensation in the lens inside the camera, so none of the footage recorded is of any use. Not quite 4 years old and this several hundred dollar purchase is now useless.
DIY installed into daughters first car ... STRONGLY RECOMMEND looking at 'how' you'll install to get access to power. YES, does have simple plug and play 12v 'cigarette socket' cable in the box AND a 'hard wire' cable too. BUT, the 12v plug n play does not let the 'parking mode' operate (12v socket only works with key at "accessories" and that drains car battery. Hard wire option is PITA to run to battery and the 'out of box', so we ended up buying the Blackvue "Power Magic Pro" and still found accessing power supply a PITA. The SIMPLE solution is to use 'fuse tap' cables, so you have a fuse 'double adaptor' and can access both 'key powered' source and a 'constant source' of power (so the parking mode) all by accessing the fuse panel in your car.
Installing the dashcam camera's on the windscreen and rear window was fairly straight forward, and the plug and play cables made install fairly easy. It's the routing of the cables across windscreen and down into dash (and also to the rear of the car) that takes time, is fiddly and brings out some frustration. The included 'trim tool' works well for popping of panels and routing cables around door trims etc.
Once installed, the dashcam unit / camera(s) just power up and do their thing ... then it becomes another process of setting up the Blackvue App (free, download from app store). We got caught in a loop with the app not able to download and install a firmware update; seemed to be a conflict with the wifi link between phone, home Wi-Fi and the built-in Wi-Fi in the dashcam. Once the firmware was sorted (we drove the car away from our house so to remove the home Wi-Fi conflict) the app linked fine, and we could then set up the 'cloud' services ...
NOW, that's where we FREAKED OUT ... in the Blackvue App we could see on the 'map' all these other dashcams, and clicking on them, we were connected to these OTHER PEOPLES dashcams! We spent AGES trying to figure out how to make sure ours was not showing up. PRIVACY AND SAFETY concerns here, so watch out when you set your up!
Initial use was at night, and we have all settings on the 'best / most extreme' for best footage. All recorded OK, and is fairly clear, but does need outside light. We also found our brake light (high center brake light just above where rear dashcam is mounted) would show up in the rear camera footage. Since then, we have some daytime use, and footage is clear and as expected (see the YouTube 'Dashcams Australia' channel and look for the Blackvue model details in the footage as it gives a good true reality of the quality of the footage you can expect).
Doesn’t show number plate image – Absolutely useless in an accident if you can’t see the number plate in front of you. Someone pulled out in front of me and I pulled the footage and very blurry Show details

BlackVue 2 channel DVR - 2 cameras are the way to go – Some months back we installed the single channel versions of this DVR in both our cars. The cameras are excellent and in my wife’s case was able to assist in a rear end collision (but only showing the car shunted forward after being hit in the rear) and then in a serious near miss at an intersection when a truck sped past her to the right of her… Read more · 1
car and ran a red light at intersection (had enough detail for Police report) but it highlighted how helpful a rear camera would be in a lot of situations – could also help in car park if hit by another vehicle hitting your car when parking.
For my wife’s car we purchased the BlackVue DR750X-2CH-32p kit – there are 2 cameras – the front camera is the larger of the 2 and controls the whole system – there rear camera is simply connected to the front camera by a thin coaxial cable (it’s a shielded coax and causes no interference to the DAB radio – FM is unaffected but some systems can interfere with DAB (RF interference)
Front camera: 2.1 megapixels Sony STARVIS sensor / Full HD (1920×1080 @60FPS) / View angle: 139 degrees Rear Camera: 2.1 megapixels Sony STARVIS sensor / Full HD (1920×1080 @30FPS) / View angle: 139 degrees.
The only difference is the frame rate on the rear camera is 30fps, not 60fps, but I think the previous versions of the rear camera were 720P resolution and this model is 1080P so it is an improvement. The picture quality is very good from both cameras, no doubt and the view angles (139 degrees) are pretty good and covers most requirement for good field of view.
The camera kit comes with all cables and connectors and hard wire kit which is used to direct power from the fuse box to enable Parking monitoring mode to be enabled when the car is turned off. The kit is very good quality and has everything you need – I think part of the extra cost for the BlackVue over is the fact that the hardwire kit is included (not an optional extra). The BlackVue cameras are also excellent build quality, very well put together and robust (fit for task)
If you are pretty handy with basic car electronics, it is not too difficult to follow the instructions to install the cameras and the hardwire kit into the cars fuse box – if any doubt with the wiring though, would recommend getting a good auto electrician as with the computers in modern cars, there could be problems if not done correctly.
Once the cameras are wired using the supplied kit, you can set parking mode to work continually when parked (it uses time lapse recording but fires up if hit, through g shock sensor) and you can set the battery voltage in the app to stop the cameras draining the battery too low for the car to start) – you can buy additional battery back up if you want extensive parking time, but haven’t explored that option (only if you had a particular need would this be warranted for the extra cost)
The cameras are fully connectable through the app to the cloud and you can get push notifications and real time view (could be handy if car hit while you are away from it when parked)
As with previous experience with these cameras, would recommend replacing the 32GB card supplied with the kit (as now running 2 cameras) with a 128GB SD card. The BlackVue SD cards are purpose built for DVR (hostile environment with heat and constant over writing of data) and very good quality but they are quite expensive – would recommend purchase of the Samsung Pro Endurance 128GB card from local retailer for about $59. Would not recommend cheaper standard type SD cards, they will not go the distance and will be potentially unreliable.
When you put a new SD card into the camera first time it should “format” the card but if it doesn’t you can format it in the BlackVue app which you can install on your desktop computer (or laptop, tablet etc.) – the app is very good and very useful to review the recordings and slice them out for saving or using when there is an accident or incident (insurance company and Police like them!) – The DVR records in one-minute grabs, so you don’t have to troll through hours of recordings to find an incident or event – its very good. GPS co-ordinates etc. are recorded and are all superimposed on google maps or similar when replaying the video on the app.
If you want absolute resolution and recording of fine detail and number plates at a distance then maybe consider a 4K set (and pay the extra cost) but it’s a trade off between very good and excellent – these cameras still record very good video and they are nice and clear and clean.
Would now not consider anything less than front and rear cameras - they are simply amazing! Pros: Very well-built cameras – good quality • Capacitor battery / power supply – good for hot conditions in car • Very good picture quality – good quality video • Cameras fit very well into the support cradles (no rattling, nice tight fit) • The Android app works very well (no doubt IOS does as well) – good comms between phone and cameras • BlackVue app on your computer is very good - very easy to use for downloading and managing videos • Supplied hardwire and cigarette outlet power lead plus all the sticky mounts etc. all good – you don’t need anything else – the leads are plenty long enough for front to rear etc. • Parking mode works very well – just remember to set the battery cut off voltage level to avoid flat battery in car. Cons: • Can’t find anything of a problem to speak of • The price of these units may deter some people but if you can afford them the quality is excellent

Great Customer Service – I had a DOA unit and Blackvue has bent over backwards ensuring that it’s sorted out. To me good customer service is probably the single most import part of a product. chose as my first. You’ll get a great video that shows what happened, when, where and how, but the fine detail is lacking. If it’s important to you to be able to get a registration number, make sure you write it down, you won’t be able to get it from the recording. Seriously consider the DR900X which is 4K and will give far more scope for the extra important detail you may need.
The DR750X is easy to use once you get it worked out. Some things are a little confusing initially because the manual isn’t great but once up and running it pretty good.
