Bokashi Composting Australia Bokashi One Bucket Questions & Answers
How effective is the fertiliser from the bucket? 1 teaspoon per 5 litres seems very weak. Any tips of increasing the amount, frequency etc? Sandra

That is the recommended amount so it doesn't burn your plants. It is very very strong, but you can see how you go with adding more bokashi liquid. Gardening is different for everyone
Thank you.
How much liquid from my urban composter should I use per 10 litre watering can.. To be used on pot plants. Should the compost in the bucket be removed after the liquid is all used and start again from a clean bucket. Look forward to your reply. Thanks Jill Fry
My question is, is there a need to bury the compost, or does it all turn into liquid, thank you.
Hi Rachael - you will still need to bury but it accelerates the process somewhat. I would suggest cutting up the food before you place into the Bokashi and then after it comes out of the Bokashi it is still solid but mushy- when this is buried it will only be a few weeks in the hotter weather - you will always see some food bits but that’s feeding the soil life so I don’t worry. Then you just cycle this round and round building up the soil quality as you go. I am not expert but just my experience based on the fact that I collect other people’s waste through the shareware app and Bokashi & compost it and feed into my worm farms - hope this helps but plenty of online resources
Yes, like Jane said, it all turns to mush but not liquid. Once your bin is full, let it sit for 2 weeks or so but continue to drain the liquid. Then you bury the mush! You can also add the mush to a compost heap or compost bin. It really accelerates compost-making. I didn’t have a compost bin for a few years so I used to take my full bokashi bin to the community garden (located in ShareWaste app) and add it to their large compost bins.
