Terrible choice of accessory selection, the touch screen has been so painful every meal, so insensitive and took hours to reaction to one command. Why pick touch screen when you cannot deliver the function
Bought 2 of the exactly same Bosch ovens for the kitchen. Both ovens touch screen have now stopped working making various features / cooking methods unavailable. Ovens are 7 years old but expensive top of range and both unusable. Spoke to Bosch representative on phone and it’s going to cost $1000+ for someone to come out and fix. I confirmed with… Read more
the lady that Bosch expect you to buy a new oven every 7 years because they Bosch don’t build them to last.. this looks like a common fault so I’ll chase up with fair trading, otherwise I’ll buy 2 new ones NOT BOSCH
Awful Customer Service, Lemon of an oven – I was sold on this fancy oven in 2018 during our kitchen reno. I took out an expensive, extended warranty via the Good Guys Concierge. Within a year, the CPU crapped out and it was fixed under warranty. Two years later the touchscreen stopped functioning. I asked for a replacement, but they repaired under warranty instead. Five years on (ie… Read more
outside of warranty) the replacement touchscreen failed again, and the oven again is no longer usable. Bosch wanted me to pay for a replacement touchscreen at $600, but I refused and asked for a replacement oven. Every call involved an hour plus of the worst hold audio imaginable, only to speak to someone different who didn't know what was going on. I eventually got hold of someone via email, and each email takes two weeks to get a response from. The whole time we have no functioning oven. They have eventiually offered a refund after they remove the oven. I was supposed to copy and paste and accept their terms which limited their liability. I am asking for delivery and installation of a new oven, as Australian Consumer Law demands (ie no consumer should suffer anything due to a major fault appliance). I'm still waiting since I replied back a few weeks ago. Still ovenless.
I will update this review as the process slowly grinds on. I'm headed to Consumer and Business Services in SA now.
This is a lemon of an oven, and Bosch don't seem to have the quality control their reputation used to signify. Avoid!
Touchscreen unreliable – We loved the sleek look and I still love the pyrolytic cleaning function. Cooks well and the whole family can use it easily. Sadly the touchscreen has failed FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE PURCHASE. Last time, of course, it cost $275 between call out and repair to get the timer working again. Now it’s failed again and I’m looking at having to fork out… Read more
a second time for the same issue. The very discrete authorised repair guy didn’t confirm or deny whether it was a common problem for the oven.
Quality and service not what we expected – We chose this Bosch oven over other well known brands based on German engineering and reliability! After just 3.5 years (purchased in Sept 2018), the temperature is playing up. Lately, it will occasionally not heat beyond 25deg C, and other times it seems to heat up far beyond the temperature selected. As it is now past the standard 2 years… Read more
warranty, we emailed Bosch Australia asking them for assistance considering the cost and short period of ownership.
The auto response email received stated they would respond shortly. After a week of waiting, I followed up with another email. I received a read receipt. Another week and still no response.
We are sorry we purchased this oven.
We no longer recommend Bosch.
multiple call outs for failed touchpad – Purchased in Mar 2019 - touchpad has failed multiple times. Do not purchase this model - or ensure you purchase extended warranty at your purchase. 3 call outs in under 3 years. Show details
We never thought an oven would be as good as this! – This oven has been life changing, we got it installed just after Christmas. I'm excited to cook because I want to make use of all the features. It's got reset programs for baking - we've used the small breads option which turned out pretty good. We've also used the meat probe for our first oven roast in years and it was to perfection. pyrolysis cleaning option also worked great (after my husband's roast splattered fat all over, it was so easy to clean). We've also used it to incubate our homemade yoghurt overnight and to speed up homemade bread proofing. I love it!
Not the greatest oven, especially for the price – This oven sounds great on paper but has really annoying little features that make me wish we looked elsewhere. You have to shut the door when grilling, making melting cheese on an omelet for example pretty hard, it turns off no matter what after your timer is finished, so you need to remember to re enter all the settings if it needs a bit more… Read more
time. Our display screen broke and was covered with red lines until we reset the whole thing at the mains. For the amount paid, it’s annoying and not worth it.
Love this oven! – LOVE this oven! Looks exceptional in a new kitchen - so sleek. So many functions (though I use say I haven't used them all). Really like the fast heat up - it would be up to 200 degrees in a matter of minutes. Grill plus function for browning the top of dishes is a particular favourite. Also love the telescopic arms for the trays. 10/10! Show details · 1
Quality. Great machine – My wife and I purchased from Harvey Norman when doing our kitchen reno. We replaced an old Westinghouse and were unsure whether to spend the extra to get a good oven. We made the right choice. It doesn't burn the food. The timer and different options are great even though we usually just use the normal oven functions. Overall would recommend to anyone wanting a new oven. Bosch quality and reliability. Show details · 1
Great & not so great – We were looking for a pyro oven and found that only two brands on the market could have oven racks in the oven while on pyro function. As cleaning the racks was a priority for me my search was instantly narrowed to Bosch and one other brand. We decided on the Bosch serie 8 as it was their top of the range (at the time we bought it). I was hesitant… Read more
about the wheel, thinking it would be a pain to use. It is! I would much rather have had a knob/dial to control the oven. If your finger is very dry it slips on the wheel and the wheel doesn't turn, so I dip my finger in water slightly to make my finger damp before using. The range of cooking options are good, although I tend to use the 4D hot air function the most. It does have a perfect bake setting, where you can pop a cake in the oven and the oven turns off when cake is done. I haven't been brave enough to use the function to the end of the cycle, you put your cake in a cold oven and turn on perfect bake. I did this but after an hour I got worried I would burn the cake so opened the oven door to check. As soon as you open the oven on this setting you end the bake and cannot get bake to perfect bake. My banana bread was actually underdone, but would have been perfect had I left it, the consistency was looking great and it wasn't burned, I just needed a bit more patience. I had to finish it on a normal bake setting.
The meat probe function is great, you can set what internal temp you want and the oven will switch off when it reaches temp. You do need to be at home to take meat out of the oven or it will continue to cook due to warmth of the oven. The only issue we have with the meat probe is the position of where you plug it in inside the oven. They couldn't have picked a more awkward spot. I burn my hand every time I try to insert it (if I didn't insert from a cold oven). Also removing the probe is incredibly difficult due to positioning, so if I didn't burn my hand putting it in I certainly do taking it out.
The digital display isn't great, I think again because of the wheel. You can also accidentally change the temp or the timer if you forget the click on temp or time before touching the wheel.
Overall, we bought this oven mainly for its pyro function and the ability to put the oven racks in the oven while on pyro. This part of the oven is really very good and simple to use. You do need to clean out the ash at the end and the racks feel a little rougher than brand new, but they look good still. The area near the door hinges does get grubby and is hard to clean though. I don't think this oven is great value for money, and there are annoying parts to it, but it cooks well, has good functions and I especially the pyro setting. Unfortunately the door glass has discoloured slightly too.
Great oven – This is a great looking oven and it cooks perfectly. It's quick to heat up and the display and controls are easy to use. I especially like the soft close door and nice smooth action on the tray rollers. We haven't had an opportunity yet to use some of the functions, but overall it's a breeze to use. Show details · 1
Okay rating due to early problem that has a service request currently in order, but can work well! – Review is for the HBG6767S1A We purchased this oven in November and began using it in December 2016. It is a fully featured oven with fancy looking electronic controls with the benefit of a pyrolitic function. It cooks food very well, but we are comparing it to a cheap gas oven that it replaced. The range of functions is large and it is fairly… Read more
intuitive to navigate the controls.
Heating up time is superfast and it cooks food evenly around the oven space, but naturally you will have to be careful when using the top shelf as it is close to the top element and can overcook at that spot. Great for browning meat there.
The pyroltic function works very well! Only needing a wipe down of the interior afterwards. Note! You will still need to scour the trays and wire racks the old fashioned way as they cannot be pyroliticly cleaned.
Be patient with the rotating selector dial, we found it stiff to move when new, but it is getting easier to use.
About two weeks after installation, we noticed that the oven could shut down the cooking function and return to standby mode after about 10 minutes of operation. At the 8 week mark the oven did the same shut down after about 40 minutes. No, we are not using the cooking timer.
I have now put in a service request via the Bosch online service portal, which by the way was very easy to use.
