Don’t buy this oven – We chose this oven as in our prior renovation we had the older series equivalent and were extremely happy with it. The newer model (serie 8) is not user friendly and my husband and I curse at it at least once a month. Yes it cooks - however this should be a non-negotiable with ovens at this price bracket. What we find endlessly frustrating is the complexity of selecting the appropriate settings, a timer that does not display (instead the oven displays how long it has been on for... who cares?!), the 2 telescopic shelf rails are too close together so we constantly use a different shelf so our two trays of food fit (prior series had this right... why change it?!). It requires additional brain function to select the appropriate setting when again the prior series was so simple. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve accidentally (a) turned the oven off when meaning to amend something else, (b) selected an incorrect setting, (c) used a separate timer (phone/watch etc) as I can watch it count down as the oven doesn’t display this, (d) had to refer to the instruction manual to work out how to do something as the oven is not intuitive. In a brand new home build our only regrets were purchasing this oven and the second oven which sits next to it in our kitchen the Serie 8 HBG633BS1.

Amazing oven, cannot live without it – We bought this oven to replace a very old Smeg. I cannot begin to describe how amazing this oven performs, and how it has totally changed my perspective on what you can do with this humble already-in-every-home appliance. To begin with, the manual provides simple but detailed recommendations for cooking almost anything, down to which type of oven tray to use, on what level, what type of heating mode, and the temperatures and cooking times. This is great for things like oven-baked chips - a disaster in our old Smeg, but in this oven, with the recommended "Pizza" mode (who would have thought ??) they come out absolutely perfect every time.

When you register the oven, they send you out a cookbook specifically for the oven - which has some great recipes in it, that the family have loved - including roast chicken, beef and pork, and some amazing cakes and desserts.

The oven boasts once particular magical automatic setting, that needs to be mentioned - "PerfectBake". When cooking a cake (or a number of other different types of baked items) you simply follow the instructions on what level to place it, and tell it what you're baking, and the oven takes over completely. You don't tell it - and it doesn't tell you - what temperature it is at, there's no pre-heating, and you have no idea what stage it's at. But when it tells you that your cake is finished ... it is! It's amazing and every time we have used it the cake has come out absolutely perfect. It truly is amazing!

The roasting probe is also great - allowing great control over cooking meats.

This oven has truly transformed my opinion on what you can do with an oven, and my wife is even happier that I am doing more cooking (guys beware) - especially when I turn out amazing and perfect roast pork belly crackling (yum!)

Lucky we were in another room as it exploded and ended up everywhere. 2 weeks later we still have glass falling out of the door (I cant get it out myself as its between 2 other pieces of glass). Bosch hasn't sent out someone to fix it despite having 2 kids under 5 in the house. urgent and contacted Bosch. I explained the situation and asked for an urgent repair. The customer service arranged a call in over a week later - which firstly considered to not be an urgent response. Regardless, the technician came onsite and sure enough diagnosed the problem as a catastrophic failure. Said it was a 'near miss' and that he had never seen such an extreme failure before (photos provided). He put forward his report with the recommendation the the oven be replaced. That was a month ago. In that time, I've called Bosch several times to follow up. Was told on both occasions that I have a a case manager and the case manager will contact me within 24 hours. I'm still waiting. I have found the customer service of Bosch lacking and it's made me question Bosch products in the future, particularly as this product failure could have ha catastrophic outcomes for my family and I.

Follow-up  · By way of follow up - the grill stopped working and a call out made. This issue was fixed by a technician. Other than that, there was no warning before the oven stopped working. Touch Panel partially not working - model HNG6764B6 – We bought the series 8 BOSCH HNG6764B6 June 2019. Great device, with steam and build in Microwave. We had issues with the rotary selector, but could fix this by myself with just removing the metal ring and cleaning it from the insight. However, recently the top left touch screen button (4D Hotair) stopped working. Also, the 2nd touch button (Top… Read more

Update 2022-07-20: Called Bosch service. They came onsite 3 days after and re-calibrated the display. All working again and free of charge. They were really friendly / helpful and I'm positively surprised. Changing by rating accordingly. After sales support is important!

Is this the new age of ovens – So we went shopping with an open mind for a replacement 60cm oven. After a fair amount of online deliberation followed up by another hour or so of hands on play in the shop we decided on this Bosch variant. Basically all ovens do the same thing - heat up. The extra money paid relates to: known reliable brand, style, ease of use, and nowadays, the… Read more ·  1

software installed. This oven was a leap forward for us with regard to swapping from big simple rotary knobs to touchscreens and sliding dials. We decided on the visually clean flat front screen rather than going the old (fashioned) knobby route. The quality and finish is very good. Styling is very good. With regard to usability I did read a few comments on here that the user interface was particularly difficult to navigate and the rotary ring of doom caused many physical and phycological issues amongst users. I believe this oven is more suited to the younger/middle-aged group. That includes me in my late 50's :-)

So after three months of using, we have had no issues with either using or programming the oven. It performs very well, was competitively priced, is very quiet and provides a good even heat and a simple status as to what it's doing. Oh, and almost forgot to mention the beeper. It's not the usual harsh ear piercing screech, but instead a pleasant soft multi tone that's still audible throughout the house. So for me the Bosch oven rates four stars.

Issues are negligible. Yes, I would like the timer to display the 'time left' rather than switching back to oven status, but that's it really.

provider. Looks like minimum fix will be $800+ each and I need to purchase the panel upfront. This in not acceptable given there appears to be some serious issues with the type. or at least the batch of panels used in the two ovens. I expect I am better off buyer replacement products as fitting two more like panels I expect could be a temporary fix as they would likely end up with the same issues. I have purchased numerous Bosch appliances in over the years but never again I I have to resort to replacing two 3 year old appliance. I will also warn my clients of the risks associated with quality.

Heats the house as well as the food – I really like this oven for cooking, but it seems to be constantly trying to cool itself by venting heat into the kitchen via the gap above its door. If we cook a roast the whole room gets too hot by the end of it! I wish it would just cook the food, not roast everyone in the room. I called the service number and they said that was normally operation. Also the adjustment dial on the front is difficult to rotate. Show details

You have no idea what a relief this is for us. Thank you Bosch.

After only 5 months we had to have the fan replaced under warranty. We have had it for just over 6 years, and it is terminal and has to be replaced. I had set it to do a clean cycle. Halfway through I noticed that the screen was dead. Had a tech come out to diagnose ($210 later). Apparently both the operating module and display pcb are cooked. Quoted $1204 to fix. I would expect any appliance that costs $2000 to last longer than 6 years. We will not be buying Bosch again. Very disappointed.

Follow-up  · Couldn’t be happier with our oven since it’s repair. I can’t speak highly enough of Bosch and their customer service.

We bought two of these ovens for a new kitchen. A week or so in, one is working fine so far but the second one has been tripping the circuit breaker randomly. Update: I eventually got through to customer service. There were issues there, but they sent somebody around. The technician said sometimes the appliances can get a build up of moisture inside while in storage. After a period of repeatedly trying to use, they heat up, dry out, and work fine. That has happened with our oven.

clear, it takes 10-15 minutes to get the most of it. The oven heats up very fast and holds the temperature for a long time. I have not tried the cleaning pyrolytic self cleaning option. I read a lot of bad reviews about the wheel in the middle, being hard to turn etc. When the oven got installed, I had the same problem - very hard to turn. Oh, no! Should have listened to the bad reviews. I called Bosch, got connected immediately (again bad reviews about their customer service that I did not experience) and the problem was fix in minutes with a spoon! The service representative was on the phone with me while doing it. Here is the procedure for further reference: 1. Get a spoon and pry out the wheel, gently. The wheels is hold magnetically to the panel, so it's easy and no dramas damaging it. 2. Using a wet cloth, wipe inside the wheel and the place on the panel where it sits. 3. Put it back. The wheel now turns very smoothly. The service guy said that I have to do this from time to time and there is no danger of damaging the wheel or the panel. As a conclusion, it is a very good oven.

Awful Customer Service, Lemon of an oven – I was sold on this fancy oven in 2018 during our kitchen reno. I took out an expensive, extended warranty via the Good Guys Concierge. Within a year, the CPU crapped out and it was fixed under warranty. Two years later the touchscreen stopped functioning. I asked for a replacement, but they repaired under warranty instead. Five years on (ie… Read more

outside of warranty) the replacement touchscreen failed again, and the oven again is no longer usable. Bosch wanted me to pay for a replacement touchscreen at $600, but I refused and asked for a replacement oven. Every call involved an hour plus of the worst hold audio imaginable, only to speak to someone different who didn't know what was going on. I eventually got hold of someone via email, and each email takes two weeks to get a response from. The whole time we have no functioning oven. They have eventiually offered a refund after they remove the oven. I was supposed to copy and paste and accept their terms which limited their liability. I am asking for delivery and installation of a new oven, as Australian Consumer Law demands (ie no consumer should suffer anything due to a major fault appliance). I'm still waiting since I replied back a few weeks ago. Still ovenless.

I will update this review as the process slowly grinds on. I'm headed to Consumer and Business Services in SA now.

This is a lemon of an oven, and Bosch don't seem to have the quality control their reputation used to signify. Avoid!

Awkward to use - I just want to cook. So many poor design decisions and corner cuts – Very frustrating oven. I swear at it still every week at least once. - Oven stops when door open, including grilling, where decent cooks cook by smell. No door ajar for extremely low temperature dough proofing. friction to spin it. - UX terrible. I've never in 40 years of cooking I've never come back to an oven to find it wasn't started, or to find it still on hours after. The rotating led display showing it's cooking can't be easily seen if oven is underbench mounted. - Probe only goes up to 99°C - meat isn't the only thing probes are good for. Who designed this, a wolf? -Nagging to empty water container after steaming, which is still 3/4 full. Just live with it. Plastic degrades quicker when it's dry. - Boot up time - I just want to put something in and start it cooking, not try to use a poorly designed menu with a poorly designed dial.

Only lemon I've bought, ever. The cooktop is also poorly designed, but not lemon class like this.

had to phone them, cannot arrange this conveniently via a web form, apparently). The guy I spoke to implied that because it was out of warranty at 2 years we should be paying to have this fault fixed but Bosch would **very generously** send someone out at no cost. Right.

I wonder- after looking at how we are to provide evidence here- if they insist on phone calls so there’s no email trail detailing the issues that customers have, giving them plausible deniability? Just as an aside for Bosch to note: emails are an essential part of modern customer service. Forcing people to phone during business hours is **not good customer service**.

Anyway, six months later, the touch screen stopped working again! We have since been using the oven without being able to utilise certain functions due to the touch screen having partial functionality, but what a pain in the … Who knows when it will just stop working altogether again?

We will probably just bite the bullet and pay for a new oven rather than having to deal with this again and again. Extremely annoying as we’d installed a Bosch built-in microwave/oven to match it and it looked great (it works fine- no touchscreen) . Suffice to say I doubt we will be replacing it with a Bosch. Bosch is no longer a byword for quality- and paying a premium price is guarantee you'll get it, either.

Another touch screen failure! – Oven touch control started playing up within 2 years of purchase, has been a problem ever since and now given up the ghost and asking $722 to repair. Oven is useless without the controls. Bosch sent a repair person, under warranty in 03/21 (the oven had hardly been used in the preceding time due to work commitments) and advised nothing wrong with… Read more

the touch pad, just needed a good clean. Had my suspicions at the time of purchase that the touch screen would not be up to the job. Given the price asked for this oven i will move to Miele in the future as their stuff works and when it breaks down they back up their items even when out of waranty for a number of years. This compares to Bosch's customer service who accused me of having a pest infestation (offensive and incorrect) to get out of any futher liability following an enquiry as to if the current issue was still related to the previous call out in 03/21. It appears from other reviews that my experience is not a one off (both the product and service response), that the touch screen failure is a regular occurance and that customer service will look for any excuse. So different to my experience with my Miele washing machine. Definitely avoid at all costs this companies ovens and go to the other German brand.

Ok but not great – We renovated our entire kitchen in 2017 and put Bosch series 8 throughout because in our previous house the Bosch dishwasher was great. So we went all in, induction , double oven and dishwasher . After 3 years all but dishwasher had to have the Bosch service man come repair it, two items had to be completely replaced - one of them this wall… Read more

oven . To pay a decent amount of money for top brand items, then for induction and both ovens to be replaced/repaired was beyond disappointing- however Bosch Customer Service and repair man( who got to know us as he came around a few times!) were fantastic and efficient. I can’t praise the repair man enough, he was really good, he knew his stuff and was quite fast too. We are looking to upgrade ovens in the not to distant future as the Bosch series 8 are out of warranty and not working very well( a whole 6 years from buying them new) and are not so sure about going for Bosch . We have started to transition appliances to a different brand and the smoothness of these compared to Bosch and less breakable parts is definitely the go for us . It is 9 years since installing these as we have replaced two things completely as Bosch stopped working the dishwasher and induction stopped working , wall ovens are playing up and will need to be replaced. Will not go back to Bosch
