Bosch Serie 8 HBG655H Questions & Answers
VerifiedHow many amps does a Bosch build in 10 amp oven HBF134eboa pull? It's 2.4kw. Can a 2.2kw omega induction cook top be used at the same time? Stephen
Can you please advise why has this model been discontinued? Is it because there were many complaints about it?
Hi Mario Lentini, Thank you for your review. This particular model ceased production back in 2018, however was manufactured from early 2015. As you can appreciate we continue to strive and develop for new technology/features with each range we bring out. That's why we tend to cease production on a particular model, to simply make way for a new range Bosch models. Kind regards Bosch Home Australia.
Can anyone confirm if when this model is purchased, a power lead is supplied? Bosch is telling me that it's not supplied but I find that rubbish
Hi J, Thanks for the question regarding the Bosch HBG655HS1A. These models are hard wired, they have a power supply cord with no plug. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss further.
Regards, Bosch Home Australia.
Apparently I will be charged $25 for the power supply cord THAT WASN'T SUPPLIED TO ME!! What sort of rubbish is this? I purchased the oven while I was undertaking a kitchen renovation and my electrician went to install it last week and found no power supply cord. Now because "its outside of the 7 day", you'll charge me?? What sort of crap is that?? You provide me with a (basically) faulty product and now you expect me to pay??
Hi, I bought a new BOSCH HBG655HS1A oven 6 weeks ago and got it installed last night. Sales person was not sure if it was on display. He said it didn't go to display. But the oven had an AUS Plug installed. Somehow oven does not heat up. (I selected the mode/temperature and pressed start) Sould I keep something in the oven and try? or is it in "DISPLAY" mode or something? Can I check and reset it? Thanks
1) read through the manual. 2) give the electrician a call and tell him/her the display works but it's not heating. 3) go back to the store you bought the oven from and tell them it's not heating. its either a warranty or replace job.
Thanks Steve. In the weekend I managed to get it working after doing some research on the internet. It was on "Display Mode" (the display mode icon was there.) I turned "display Mode" off. Following are the steps.
1). Switched the oven off.
2). Switched it on and quickly press on 'i' (information) and hold it for few seconds.
3). Navigate through all the settings using "clock" button.
4). When "Display Mode" setting appeared, use the rotating wheel and set it to OFF.
5). Come out from settings.
It worked and did some cooking. I will write a review after using it for sometime. However I felt the rotating wheel could be better as it dos not turn when the fingers are dry.

The oven should NOT HAVE A PLUG ON IT as household plugs are 10 amp and the oven draws at least 15 amps and should be wired on its own circuit right back to the fusebox with the correct weighted fuse and safety switch. Otherwise if it burns your house down you will have no insurance
Thanks G. May be it was on display then. I will get the electrician to wire it directly to the switch board.

Regarding a plug rather than hard wired. Our old oven and cooktop both have plugs on them an I thought this odd, but with closer inspection they are rated to 15amp and not your basic 10amp. Plugs are acceptable if they and the wiring are done to suit 15amp and the relevant circuit is electrically compliant.
Thanks for that information bushmagpie. I called the electrician again and got him to revisit the installation. He confirmed the wire came out from the oven is original and the plug is 15A. And showed me the installation manual instructions about installing it with a plug. So it seems it is acceptable to install it in that way too. : D
A bit late I know but whilst it appears it can be wired with a plug it should only be connected to a DEDICATED 15AMP Circuit. Most ovens are hard wired in and I havent seen one in several houses I have owned that has had a plug on it. Last house didnt have a safety switch on the oven so we got one installed and it was a 45 amp switch.
Far heavier than an ordinary house circuit. Incidentally I note one reviewer said it was a pyrolytic oven. ITS NOT Its a catalytic oven which is different It has cleanable liners which will need replacing eventually and a Pyrolytic one has different enamel and no liners.
People need to do their research more carefully
Also from Bosch specs it says this
Connection requirements
Needs to be hardwired by a qualified electrician
i have just got a new oven HBG655HS1A i have checked the manual have turned it on but it is not heating up at all have tried different modes what am i doing wrong or is it just too technical for me its giving me quite a headache
have solved problem apparently the elements were disconeccted in the store wish i had known this now to take oven back out and reconnect should work
You need to turn on, select the mode you want and then press start for it to commence heating up.
Yes, it is a bit confusing, I sat on the floor many times to work mine out.
Hi,
What do you think of the touch panel?
Is it easy to use?
I was a bit concerned in regards to the durability of the panel when I was playing around it in a store.
The touch panel is easy to use and we have had no problems aside from the initial faulty computer board (or power supply - not sure which was to blame). I suppose you might be talking about the metal ring to select temperatures etc, because it is designed to be movable. We haven't had any issues with it.
i am having trouble using the touch panel cant seem to get my new oven to work following instructions but only the light fan comes on when i start it it turns itself off all the time any ideas?
no heat at all
Hi I saw this oven today & was impressed with the full catalytic lining & I'm wondering if there have been anymore issues with this oven now a few months have passed & if you would buy again given the choice? thx linda
No, I have not had any further problems. The oven is quiet and cooks really well.I really like that you can put for example meat loaf into a cold oven, put in the weight and it cooks it to perfection.
Made the best chocolate cake for hubbies Birthday yesterday also.....
Hi,
Our oven was eventually replaced with another of the same model. Since then we've had no issues and are very happy with the performance. We would probably buy this again - I think our original was a one-off lemon.
