utter rubbish

I'm a renter and been at our current place for 12mths so far and we have this unit. Its your guess if you will have hot water or not that day, sometimes having to turn the tap on and off for up to 20mins for hot water to come (this happens on a regular basis). There have been days where we've had no hot water for hours and as long as 3 days. I've had my pm send a plumber out to look at it, he changed a valve ( which made no difference). Even he said these units can be unpredictable and had suggested to the owners (long before we moved in) to install an electric one instead. We had gas water units at other properties I've lived with no issue like I do with this one. Utter rubbish.

Bad bad

Last one just failed to heat up then a new one was installed for $1600 and since then have been unable to regulate the hot water temperature. Complete waste of money. Show details

Temperature regulating issue

This unit cannot keep it's temperature no mater what you do. You either have scolding hot, lukewarm or cold. Turn the cold a smidgen too far then shower is cold. Even added dots to the taps so we knew where to turn them so we could have a decent shower but onky worked for a while. Will be replacing the unti very soon. Rubbish unit for a gas continuous hot water system. Show details

I cannot fathom why this product is still being sold or is standard in many homes?

I've had multiple iterations of this Bosch heater since the 1980's. All are utterly crap and have caused massive trouble. These require gallons of water flow or they will shut down, and once they do good luck getting them to work again. How is a wasteful product like this even allowed given water restriction devices are mandatory?

And if you are showering and someone use hot water to wash the dishes, say goodbye to your hot shower. Oh and good luck finding the owners manual for this on the Bosch website.

How is a product such as this even fit for purpose, given all (yes ALL) the negative reviews, Consumer Affairs?

Why is German engineering touted as superior when they produce products such as this? An absolute disgrace of a design.

Never had a problem with any Hydro models, only trouble with previous pilot types was (high winds blowing pilot out )

I opted for the 16 H even though there are only 2 of us, to ensure there was no shortage of hot water for quickly filling a bath. Show details

Bosch 16h sparks wont start up

Less than 2 years old. It wont fire up. Piezo firing, but no gas. Called plumber and he removed wire gauze and blew in the opening- cleared whatever there and it worked.
What have i done to deserve this?
Its made in China now, so I guess its the typical buy it and junk it in 2 years routine… Show details

Worst hot water system EVER

Inconsistent temperature, despite how fast the taps are on. Worst experience, hot then cold. Waiting for Bosch supervisor to call today. If no response by 5pm I’m going straight to the ombudsman to get a full refund. Show details

Can't wait to change to electric

Inconsistent flow of hot water suddenly turning cold; high use of gas with often a smell of gas. Seems impossible to mix cold without the hot turning off. A lot of money compared to our previous system. This cost $1099-00 + $ 450- installation. I was told this was one of the best by installer. Should have checked reviews. Show details

Reported to energy safe N. Z. ! Caught fire causing injuries. Only 7 months old

I had the hot water tap running in shower.the water was not hot. I went outside to check the heater and found the interior completly engulfed in flames. Burning the side of my house and burned my hands removing the housing cover. Bosch wont cover under warranty claiming an insect caused the fire. Nothing but problems dealing with bosch.  Show details

Terrible!! Avoid at all costs

I’ve had two accidentally. The second one which I asked not to have the same system was exactly the same. Irregular temperatures. Takes ages to heat up at times. My first one broke down after only 3 months & I had to pay for repairs for a ‘consumable item!’ Continued to break down until it got replaced at 3 years old. It looked like it had caught on fire. Black soot over the top of the unit as well as a large metre wide black patch under my eaves.
Second unit broke down after about 8 months & fixed under warranty. It just broke down again, luckily just in warranty.
Definitely do not recommend this unit

Bosh Hot water system

Hi, I have Bosch 16H Hydropower system. Initially it was working fine but now it works only in laundry and does not work in kitchen and bathroom as when I turn on the taps the burner does not get flame. The water flow for all taps are the same. Any help would be highly appreciated. TIA

Chunk of crap, avoid at all costs

The older 16H systems were good, years of trouble free hot water, then they changed the design of the hydro generator (spark igniter). Now they only last 2-3 years and then you have to pay another $200 odd for another one, only good part is you can get a battery holder from jaycar electronics, a couple of AA batteries and a toggle switch and bypass the broken hydro generator until your new one arrives about a week later. They tend to die on a friday night when you can't order a new one and have a houseful of dirty sweaty people all needing a shower and nowhere else to have one. Apart from the crappy hydro generator nothing else seems to ever die on them Show details

Installed a new 13H, gas inlet pressure is perfect at 1.15 but I have zero Burner gas pressure . Commissioning doesnt say anything about this so I assume its a fault with the new appliance. I noticed the gas regulator was a bit sticky but that's fine now. Anyone had this issue and sorted it?

Pilot flame ignites but no main burner when hot tap is turned on

Hi all,
Had a brand new Bosch hydropower 16H installed yday to replace my 15yr old exact same unit as it wasn't lighting when hot water tap was turned on...unless I'd turn the tap on first, then go outside and shut the inlet valve to the heater, wait a few seconds, then open back up (sending a burst of pressure through and only then it'd light) now with the brand new one I have the exact same problem and the plumber isn't sure why .. any suggestions on how to increase pressure ?
