And I would like to add my name to the list of people who bought a Series 8 oven only for the touch pad to be faulty. I have done a reset, left it turned off for 10 minutes and nothing is working. I can see the words, I can turn the circular dial but none of the options when pressed, are responding. Is any one able to tell me what the fix was? Is it just that the touch screen ribbons need cleaning /recontacting or is the entire control board defective and needing to be replaced? I have two of these ovens and the other one works fine.

My oven is just turning 2.5 years old, and the display has stopped working today though the oven seems to be working as its lighting up and heating. Looks like a few customers have complained about this same very issue happening right after the warranty completes, how frustrating! How do I get this issue resolved?

johan g.

They are terrible ovens in 6 years the second panel touch stop working!!! After warranty will stop and plan around 500 euro parts plus installation and coding!!!

WheresBear
WheresBear

The panel on our oven has failed twice - 2.5 years apart each time so we're about to have it replaced for the 2nd time at 5 years old. It has been done under statutory warranty as per Australian Consumer Law as the manufacturers warranty expired before it failed the first time. Because the issue is a well known fault, and an expensive appliance has failed before it would be reasonably expected to do so, then they are obligated to repair, replace or refund. Ask nicely and tell them that you are aware of your rights and they will come to the party.

Hi Seems like I am a new victim to the Bosch touchscreen problem. We have the steam assist model. Ours won't work on the top of touchscreen but works on the lower grill selection for example. Has been hard to select for a while now but now not working at all. We also have the steam water reservoir tank that won't go back in its slot. Technician or try to fix myself??

Looks like Bosch is a lemon

Same! Such an expensive oven and have had 3 repairs and now the left touch screen is not working. At least it still works in eco mode as I can select anything on the right! Have had quotes of approx $700 Australian to repair. So disappointing for what is obviously a product defect for a premium appliance.

JeffC
JeffC

Hi Grant, I haven't done anything about repairing our oven. The oven touchscreen is still not working and steam reservoir won't go back in the slot. Having such a large kitchen we made the mistake of buying a Bosch Steam oven, separate microwave oven and matching warmer. The microwave oven works but we now have had to use this as our conventional oven as well. We are far from happy even the warmer and is slow at best. We might have to get oven fixed as we are stuck with these appliances. $700 seems a joke for a product that has fault because of manufacturing. Always thought Bosch was a top line brand and can't ever seeing me buying Bosch again now.

MisterHandy

same problem as you had and fixed it myself. I removed the touchscreen from oven and then undid the back of the panel giving me access to the the computer board, The hard bit is popping the touch screen out of the black casing but once you know where to put the screwdriver you can carefully remove it. I swapped it out for a new touchscreen i bought from aliexpress ($94) , clipped it onto the board and bingo saved myself $1000 for repair or $560 bosch australia parts.

Recalibrate the screen worked for me. Ive bought two new LCD screens in case calibration has to be done again and again. Pusing the "hourglass" button (bottom right) & information button (top left) at the same time. As soon as you hear a beep ALSO touch the on/off button As soon as you hear a beep again RELEASE all 3 buttons This will bring you into service mode Turn the 'jog shuttle' 1 'click' to bring it to calibration mode, press start to calibrate NOW remove the metal centre ring and use the back of it for calibration. Follow the steps where the touchscreen area spot can be calibrated with the rear of the ring, DO NOT use tour fingers. Select the red lighted options When you get to the "Button test" first touch WITH YOUR FINGER the numbers buttons on the touch screen, then touch the red lighted options (till they each of them turned off), the the jog shuttle few clicks clockwise, few clicks counter clockwise, then the start button 1x, then the on/off button one time. You need to be quick. Bottom right in the screen it should say "Calibration finished" or similar Tip: ensure you have warm hands and fingers. When I had cold ones I was not able to do the button test correct ending up with error code E0539, no clue what that is but it caused the calibration not to save.

Took me a fair few go’s.

Unfortunately Bosch service quoted me $800-1600 for this repair and a calibration was going to cost $200+ alone. The oven was only $3800 new and on special $2200.

Had similar problem, paid $200 for a (National Appliance Repairs) call-out , he didn’t try to calibrate, said it would require a few hundred $ touchscreen. Quote came in for $1200. Watched the YouTube videos, read the above and recalibrated the touch screen, working fully now. So basically they stole $200 for an hour call-out that should have fixed the problem, then tried to steal $1200 by replacing a part that didn’t need it. Welcome to ripoff Australia. Don’t use National Appliance Repairs they will steal your money!

We have a brand new Bosch 60cm Pyrolytic oven series 8. When going through the “first time use” process of heating the oven the fan appears is hitting as it slows down when you open the door then stops after it picks up speed again when you close the door again. Surely this cant be how it should operate.

Hi Does anyone know how to remove the control panel on a HRG6767.2a The touch panel is intermittent. Ie different functions are available at different times. All functions work if you push really really hard. I’ve read that the sensor panel behind the glass may have come loose.? Thanks David

David S.

Thanks Anthony. All understood. I’m trying to take the protective cover off the back of the control panel without breaking it. I’m sure there’s a simple trick to it. No screws visible so must have to release a catch somehow. Just not sure where. Yet!

jeepyrocks28
jeepyrocks28

You probably solved this by now but the rear plastic panel unclips from the bottom corners then removes to allow access to the screw on each side holding the display panel on. From there it’s one plug, one earth wire and the panel lifts off. Replacement touch screens are available from Ali express and are identical but require careful disassembly of the display panel (I’ve done both my screens successfully).

David S.
David S.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I managed to get in and pull it all apart. I bought a new touchpad from Aliexpress. $NZD118.00 delivered. I haven’t needed to install it as I was able to get the old one functioning mostly correctly by cleaning and increasing the pressure of the springs on the panel while waiting for the new one to arrive. I bought the panel for a series 8 Bosch. I hope it’s the correct one. There were a few options.

Fabio P.

Hi Jeepyrocks28...

same problem for me, but for the life of me, I ca't figure out how to unclip the back panel. I can see the holes in the corner, but can't seem to release the back panel. Any idea's?

David S.
David S.

It's straight forward when you know how. I say that tongue in cheek! I'll try to explain. There are two slots at each end of the panel. The cover has plastic catch's that need to be pushed to release them from metal fittings inside the slots. I find a small right angled piece of steel works really well. I used a right angled bracket roughly 10mm wide, 2mm thick and each arm about 25mm long. I sharpened one end Come in from the ends horizontally. You need to do the outer slot first. Insert the sharp end of the bracket in the slot in between the outer cover and the metal bracket which you can't see but you can feel. you need to push the sharp end relatively firmly. Rock(pivot) the bracket outwards so the other end pushes against the plastic cover. The inner one seems easier. Make sure the outer doesn't slip back into position and reclip itself. Once again come along the back of the panel from the side. Insert your bracket in the second slot. This time you don't need to get between the plastic and metal parts. You just rotate the bracket and it should release. Now release the 2 at the other end in the same manor. Good luck.

David S.
David S.

No Just take note of how the wires/cables are routed from one side of the board to the other. Clever little catches lock the ends in place

Daniel K.
Daniel K.

so there were quite alot of steps here, here's my 2c on the instructions: 1. eject panel 2. the rear plastic cover needs to come off, this has 2 steps: 2a. insert something (a small butterknife is a good example of the thickness to insert) into the bottom corners on each side - you can do one at a time. Come from the bottom and go straight up then wiggle and hope for the best to unclip it. It will unclip and move backwards (i.e. towards the oven). This dislodged the bottom edges.

2b. next you need to dislodge the top, once you get one of the side bottom edges unclipped it will most likely unclip part of the top as well. If not you have to pull at it - towards the oven. There are a series of about 5 clips at the top and they are fairly stubborn.

3. then you will have 2 star screws on the sides (no idea what these screws are called, not quite allen key). Undo these and you can then pick up the whole panel and slide it off the metal arms. There will be 2 cables, a ground cable and a power cable. I turned my mains switch off at this point. Under to ground cable (slides off) and the power cable is a total pain to get off. I actually broke the clip that locks it in place so be careful not to do that.

4. now you have these weird metal brackets that have been 'bent' to hold the plastic cover on the back on. you have to bend these so they line up with the holes, once you do that the back cover just lifts off

5. now there is more to undo! lots of little clips - removes the control panel away from the face

6. i ended up removing the chipboard away from the panel behind it, i have a feeling this is optional but i wasn't able to remove the LED screen without doing this. There are alot of little latches to unclip for this step plus you have to undo all of the ribbon clips

7. the next is hardest part i found - to remove the actual LED screen. the screen has tiny clips on the side of it, so you need to press them in to unclip them. I ended up really struggling with this and tried to 'pry' the sides and bend them a bit to move the slip out. This worked but it chipped away at the led screen. It was going to be replaced anyway so i didn't care but it's worth maybe finding out how to do this properly if you wanted to keep the old led screen.

8. the new led screen just drops in a clicks in place. Then you reverse all the steps and done!

took me about 20 minutes to take off and 10 minutes to put back together
