Bosch SMU40M05AU

Not impressed – Washes dishes well provided every scrap of food is rinsed off first. With a family of 4 and kinds doing dishes it has regular drainage blockages (monthly) requiring reverse flush of drain pipe. Apart from that gripe it is quiet and easy to operate. Does a great job on delicate wine glasses. The shelving basket layout is a little inflexible, it appears to be designed around small plate and bowl sizes and isn't very flexible. Show details
Not heating up water or drying. just months out of warranty – $950 purchase didn't last anywhere near as long as my previous Bosch. No sympathy from Bosch when I called them. Referred to out of warranty repair provider with min cost $121 for call out ($99 call out plus $22 per 10 minutes) to determine the problem before adding on cost of labour and part/s to actually repair it - most likely on a second visit once necessary parts are ordered in. Not particularly happy with this model – I replaced my old Asko dishwasher with a Bosch Model SMU40M05AU. I am not really satisfied in that it does not clean the dishes as well as it should. Recently I have noticed a bad smell coming from the dishwasher, however, I regularly clean the filter and wipe out the inside of the dishwasher. I am also unhappy with the filter as it is not as… Read more
easy to clean as the previous one I had, it is a nuisance with all the ridges in it and takes time to clean it properly. After comparing the Bosch with the Asko I will definitely be buying another Asko next time before a Bosch. Pretty disappointed with this model.

Warranty Service is CRAP - Machine only lasted 2 months – I can't believe the run around that I am currently experiencing trying to get my 2 month old dishwasher REPAIRED under WARRANTY. Not only does the contractor service company pass the buck to Bosch, but BOSCH seem to have no idea about it or what customer service is when it comes to up holding their obligations. I have spoken with BOSCH 5 times… Read more
this past week with no outcome or anything positive to say about the service. The operators are unable to tell me anything, they always have an excuse - having to contact other departments and will call you back... REALLY well out of the 3 times now you have stated you will call me back I have never gotten a return call. Obviously time to call in the ACCC, this is so disappointing and I am over it.
I do not recommend this brand due to there lack of communication and unwillingness to help there customers.

Honest dishwasher – In all my years I've never had a dishwasher and this is the first time I've ever had one. I can honestly say it is life changing. This is a great dishwasher for the price and it's really easy to use. It is a lot more quiet than I thought when running. I would recommend this dishwasher to anyone with a young family it's doesn't have to many… Read more · 1
options to confuse you. Given it has a smaller cavity size it actually fits quite a bit. My only criticism and very minor at that is that the bottom metal plate is difficult to put on it tends to fall off at times if not clipped in properly. I recommend this one you won't be disappointed.
Lack of cover plate to cover the kicker area on an underbench bosch dishwasher – Why when you spend good money on a quality dishwasher do you end up with a situation where you have the spend further money on purchasing addition kicker material with brushed aluminium laminate because Bosch does not provide a proper adjustable kicker panel. Further the instal diagram is extreme poor. Look at illustration 6 on the install guide… Read more
where it suggests you cut down the kicker for an underbench installation. I am not sure if the designers are actually aware of the installation requirements of their product.
Why is such a simple fix so difficult.

Can't complain – I had never owned a dishwasher and as a single person never saw the point. When I got my kitchen renovated I decided I had to put one in so I reluctantly purchased this and only got it because it would be integrated under the bench tops. I assumed it would be a white elephant. Well 6 months later I can tell you what a lifesaver this has turned out… Read more · 1
to be. It has now become an indispensable appliance. I use it a few times a week and mainly use the quick wash after storing up a few days dishes. After the first time I ran it I was astounded at how clean the dishes came out - absolutely sparkling and my once cloudy cheap glasses look like fine crystal! I do a lot of cooking and after entertaining guests I use the normal and/or pots cycle. The cleaning is beyond belief. I have never seen dishes, cutlery and pans as clean in my life. I couldn't be happier with this purchase and am confident that finding a better dishwasher would be a hard task. This machine is also very quiet and dries well too. Buy this machine and I can't see you regretting it.
Worth every cent! – Our 7 year old Asko died (the CPU) which was going to cost c$560 to be fixed. Stuff that. We did our research and felt that Bosch had the best reputation for the price range we were looking. Whilst $960 is a fair amount for a dishwasher, I have just completed 2 different cycles with last being after a big dinner for 6 people. Got the pots in and… Read more · 1
all the cutlery and was amazed how well everything came out. Glasses looked like a commercial and everything was dry (if not a bit hot!). Very happy with our purchase and will advise friends and family if they are looking to replace. I just hope this continues.... FYI, I installed it myself and I'm not that handy. Little tip.... You will need larger holes to route the piping and power lead given the additional safety head that is attached to the inlet hose. Good luck shopping
great value dishwasher - made in Germany – We purchased this model after our 12 year old Smeg dishwasher died. After reading a lot of reviews of the various different brands and models we shortlisted down to Miele and Bosch based on build quality, reliability and energy efficiency. We paid $960 delivered which represents good value for an under bench stainless steel dishwasher made in… Read more · 1
Germany. While the Miele equivalent is probably a superior machine (based on reviews) we couldn't justify paying the additional ~$800.
Having owned this dishwasher for 3-4 weeks now we have no complaints. It washes really well and is significantly quieter than our old dishwasher - so quiet that for the first few runs we had to keep checking to make sure it was on! (It was).
On advice of the sales assistant we went with the under bench style rather than stand alone unit (sitting under the bench). I'm really pleased we did because it looks so much better once installed.... I installed the machine myself but would recommend paying someone to do it if you don't have a drill with hole saw attachments & a bit of patience to level it properly.
Very disappointed - Don't buy – Our 15 years old Bosch dishwasher died last year. It has been pretty good up until that point, so we decided to replace it with another Bosch. We read Choice reviews on the different types and then bought this one. What a mistake. Since we've got it, it has actually been WORSE than our previous Bosch Dishwasher. It doesn't wash as well - if… Read more
things aren't clean before they go in, they won't be clean before they come out. It doesn't dry properly - most stuff is still wet when it comes out (even using a good rinse aid).
And just lately, it's started coating the washed goods in shredded debris from goodness knows where. We've cleaned the filters and done everything by the book.
It's a shocker.
A SHOCKER.
Don't buy it.
