Bosch SMU50D05AU Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: SMU50D05AUExcuse my ignorance, but I'm considering this model but don't want it to look tacky in the kitchen, which is only a couple of years old. Does the kickplate only become an issue if the kitchen bench is higher than normal? When you say it's been installed to a certain height, is that referring to the bench height or something else? As you can see, I know zero about such things, am just browsing online to look for a replacement to mine that has just died after only two years! (Yeah, won't be buying THAT brand again :) )
Hi Cindylou, Thanks for your question regarding the Bosch SMU50D05AU Dishwasher. Yes as most brands the kick plate is not adjustable in height, the height of the kick plate fits a standard cabinet height, if your cabinets are larger than the supplied kick plate you can arrange for a cabinet maker to supply you with a customer kicker that matches the kitchen.

If I install the smu50d505au to its maximum height of 875mm is the kick plate supplied sufficient to cover gap neatly?
I would think so but I couldn't for say for certain as we didn't install our at it's maximum height. I think that would be a better question for the manufacturer.
Having just had this model installed, to a height of 870, I can tell you it definitely is NOT big enough. It's height is 75mm, so only enough to cover the minimum height. Bosch have tried to be helpful but their answer really comes down to it's up to me to source vinyl covered MDF to match the rest of my kitchen. If I had been told about this in the store I could at least have considered alternative models. The dishwasher itself is really quiet and cleans glasses and crockery really well, and copes with pans. The kick plate as fitted makes it look amateurish, not up to the higher end image of the Bosch brand.
Thank you for your response. After a lot of consideration I chose an alternative to the bosch model. It became clear that the kick plate was too small and I didn't want to hire a cabinet maker to make one. Just a pity that bosch didn't also provide a larger one to give consumers the option of installing the dishwasher to the full height. Business lost.
