Thought Bosch means quality! – I should have read the review before I bought ours. We had the exactly the same problem as some other users, cannot turn on, completely died without any warning. Have checked the power point, all working, but the dishwasher. It was bought in Jan 2011, but it was not used heavily at all. On average approx. twice a week. With initial quite happy… Read more
with the good wash result and quite operation, it stopped working completely. Thought German quality is better than this. Not very impressive!
Failed German Engineering – We have had the dishwasher for about 5 years now. Overall happy with it when it works. But... Our control board failed after 20 months. Still under warranty. Took almost 3 weeks to get the replacement board and I don't enjoy washing up by hand. We were also lucky as the repairer told us that he needed to inspect the board if the fault was not… Read more
caused by a cockroach. If that would have been the case warranty would not cover it. That replacement would have cost some ridiculously amount of money, you would be better buying a new one. Now 5 years old, the power module is broken. Machine turns on and off as it desires and a 70 min program takes around 24 hours to finish. We got quoted an eye watering $576 for the repair. I contacted Bosch about the issue and waiting there response with patience. Stay tuned and wait for the next episode.
I have contacted Bosch about the dishwasher. They responded very quickly and the same day they… Read more
Control board has died less than 5 years since purchase – Very disappointed. Purchased my Bosch dishwasher and had just under 5 years of lovely clean dishes then out of nowhere the power won't turn on. After getting a serviceman out on Monday he tells me it's the control board which will cost around $500 to replace (on top of the $100 call out fee). I asked him if I had done something that would have… Read more
caused the breakage and he said "no". I've never heard of anyone's dishwasher breaking within 5 years, I bought a bosch (not the cheapest model at $1000) thinking it was good quality, I doubt I'd be recommending it to anyone else.

to replace part or buy new machine? – I was living a dream with my Bosch dishwasher SMU50E25AUSS and would have given a higher rating but my machine is now dying on me after almost 5 years - liked the delay start option. Bought in January 2012 (not cheap at $1,120 - was depending on German reputation) and now failing in past month- new mother board required as washer is turning off… Read more
during the cycle- very expensive to replace and now need to weigh up whether to replace the part or with a new machine.
almost 5 years - are my expectations too high for wanting my machine to last longer? now need to make an expensive decision.

Disappointing – SMU50E25AU Disappointing in Quality does not last 5 years. Price on spare parts are over priced, especially when you think you are buying a quality product, Spending more money doesn't make a difference. Especially it could be cheaper to buy a new one, probably not a Bosch again. Could be the PCB or the water hose

Life span disappointing – This dishwasher has served us well for 3 and a half years and then E09 error came up. Got a technician to check ($99) and advised that the heat pump has died. Replacement would be $270 and repair another $200.. Expected to get a longer use out of the dishwasher - definitely need to get extended warranty next time.

Has been great for 2 years – This machine has worked fantastically for two years but on its anniversary month it just stopped working during a cycle with no lights or sounds and have been informed by a technician that the PCB needs replacing. Should be good again after $490 fitted...after picking my tongue and lower jaw off the floor i told him thanks but i just have to quit… Read more
whilst ahead and downgrade to a machine that will probably cost the same amount as this repair. Not happy for our initial $1200 outlay!
So much for German Quality! – Purchased 2.5 years ago for $988. 6 months out of warranty.Quiet machine. Now has fault E06 which Bosch Customer Service says is electrical. Internet forums say is door sensor or main elec board. Door sensor replaced for $22 but to no avail. Looks like very expensive repair. Had $700 F & P machine for 9.5 years cost $28 for new beefed up new door… Read more
latch before being kaput. So much for German engineering. Seriously thinking about taking to local scrap dealer and buying a F&P or LG.Never again Bosch. Quiet 2.5 Years Not fit for purpose. Unreliable
Ours needs a new heater - 3.5yrs old – I have really enjoyed our Bosch SMU50E25AU - its been quiet, a great size, has cleaned well and then bang... it stopped working, our repair man came and did a thorough check up at $180 cost and found the heater was broken and is attached to the motor, so the motor needs to be replaced. No quote yet, but looks like a $500/$600 excercise - we… Read more
purchased it just 3.5 years ago when we paid $1200, in this throw away world we are probably better off getting a 2 year warranty by buying a dishwasher at about $700 now instead of a 3 or 4 month warranty on the new motor and near enough to the same cost... very disappointed now, its probably just bad luck, but I cant see the point in spending up big on a dishwasher again, looking for a bargain now! Quiet The heater broke
Beautiful, Practical and Perfect – Received our Bosch SMU50E25AU dishwasher and its been a dream ever since. Quiet, roomy, good cleaning...couldn't ask for more. The Stainless Steel look is sharp and there is more than enough room to stack every meal of the day in there plus more. Great product. Great Brand, Energy Efficient
Excellent machine ! ** Finally died Dec 2019 ** – We looked around at other brands but after heaps of research ended up buying a Bosch because of their reliability. We haven't been disappointed with our purchase but after reading the operating manual we have made a choice to increase the drying time as the dishes were not drying satisfactorily, once we did this it made a huge difference. the drain filter in the bottom of the machine clean is crucial and involves undoing the plate in the bottom and cleaning the gauze filter in hot soapy water, we found that this can clog up and register a fault code if not cleaned regularly. Also recommended is running a dishwasher cleaner through the machine every couple of months to keep the odours away.
As of 23/10/16 this dishwasher is still going strong and has never missed a beat. Always cleaning gauze filter every week or so is obviously helping prolong it's life. Everything,! A great machine, quiet, efficient and extremely well built. Doesn't dry dishes well until it is programmed to do so.
Started coming up with E15 code because of water ingress under machine, drained excess water and it was ok for a few days then code came up again. Seeing it was 10 years old we decided to replace it with another Bosch, made in Germany SMU66JS01. Hopefully it's as good as this one has been.
Excellent – What a great unit, got a great price ($930 OCT 08) on this through E&S Trading who beat all all quoted prices from the big guys. Really efficient water saving machine that is quiet to run. This is the first of many Bosch appliances. Great looking, simple to use quiet dishwasher that actually washes dishes well... Nothing major though wash cycles takes about 2.5 hours not a big issue for us
Excellent – Fantastic, good buy and well worth the money I paid. I am happy that I decided not to go with my original choice and upgraded to this model. My original choice was a more basic Bosch model SMS50E12AU, but decided the extra features of the countdown timer was better for my needs as a Deaf person. Plus the stainless steel matches the kitchen better.… Read more · 1
:o) This model is fantastic. I absolutely love it. As a Deaf woman I am able to see the countdown until the dishwasher is finished.
I have found that using just the Quick Wash is more than enough to wash the dishes.
I use the Intensive wash when I have lots of things to wash and more heavily soiled such as grease and so on such as my oven and stove racks.
I was very surprised to find that this model has a sharp knife shelf, so I am happy I have somewhere for my sharp knives to be placed safely.
Another feature I especially like is the ability to adjust the height of the basket so this will come in handy.
I should have bought my dishwasher much earlier and I'm glad I did. Not anything so far.
Excellent – We are really happy with this dishwasher. It only uses 12.3 litres per wash and does a terrific job. Highly recommended! This dishwasher is great. It's really quiet and works really well. Everything except some plastics come out dry ready to go straight into the cupboard.
