Bossweld MIG 186 – This machine has performed perfectly and when added Gas and a spool gun for Aluminium it impressed me even more, I have found this machine not only to be reliable over the last 4 years but has also delivered and performed exceptionally. I have also found the build quality to be exceptional. the only thing I can fault is the 150 spool gun didn't come with instructions and not being clear regarding wire feed speed on the spool gun. Working as expected – Was using 186 BOSS gassless, not real good. 2 pluss years sitting there I bit the bullet and put gas on, fantastic couldn't be happier. Doing what I wanted good clean welds. Show details · 1

Faulty welders, do not purchase – I purchased a Mig 186 from Bunnings, after 25% of a roll of wire use the wire feed failed. Bunnings supplied a second welder after 2 hours of work the second welder failed.Wire feed again. This has cost us 3 days of time, late delivery on product and due to the faulty component we will not purchase goods from Bunnings again. How can 2 x welders faill without even using 1 x roll of wire?? Absolute junk – I brought this machine to do yard work on my property the weld quality is horrific compared to other brands I have used in the past. When looking at the build quality the wire feed system it looks and feels cheap and flimsy as well as the torch and leads it came with i am really disappointed and im kicking myself for not buying something better. Solid machine – I have used the Mig 186 for over 5 yrs and had one issue in it's early days, was replaced under warranty straight away and it has been going well. I use it daily in my work shop on all steel up to 10mm. Best value for money in this current market. Show details
Great Aussie product. Works very well. Welds thin metals – Was initially skeptical of gasless welding, as I have used gas mig and tig previously. Very pleasantly surprised. I have been using a 'multipass' wire from a specialty welding store (I will post the specs etc later - too cold to go the shed now) and the amount of slag is very low. So low that a brisk brush will remove 99% of it! I have welded… Read more
1.2mm, 1.6mm, 2.0mm and above in sheet, rhs, shs and exhaust pipe. I have not needed to use very high power settings at all and the wire feed is set quite low (2 from memory). Thicker metal will obviously require more amps and feed adjusted to suit wire diameter. Only gripe was the feed rollers were set for gas wire and not gasless wire. Gasless has the flux so you can't use the 'toothed' edge feed rollers of the wire gets chewed up and the problems begin. Was about to lose my [Word Removed] just as I discovered this nuance. Filed the 15amp plug down to suit 10amp earth slots. Yeah I know, but I have no intention of welding tank armour. Hasn't missed a beat. Would buy again without hesitation.
Side note: Has the Euro lead plug so can accept other brand spool guns - the Bossweld spool gun retails typically A$345-540 as at June 2018. Unimig with Euro plug is $275. Hmm
Absolute pieces of crap – Bought a bossweld tig 161 A/C D/C / HF from burnback in Perth about 3 years ago only had machine for about 2 weeks and used it twice in that time and it broke it self took it back to burnback who promptly repaired under warranty since then i have probably used it 3 to 4 times in last 2 and a half too 3 years and its probably done about 1.5 hours… Read more
welding in that time and its broke itself again called burnback going to cost me $100 dollars just to diagnose problem then parts and labour ontop of that would never buy another bossweld welder as long as i live and wouldn't recommend to anyone unit cost me around $1300 3 years ago.
Bossweld 100 Amp M100 Gasless MIG Inverter Welder – Fantastic welder and half the weight of the Ozito. for a small welder it was great for welding up my motorbike subframe .I was concerned about strenght so welded up some cut up pipe and could not break it. Show details
OK for the price – I bought one of these machines about 12 months ago for home hobby usage and it welds OK, but the wire supplied with the unit is very soft and kinks at the drive rollers very easily. This means you have to pull the wire out of the liner from the drive roller to the hand piece and feed through a new section of wire, before you start welding again.… Read more
Very frustrating and time consuming. In the process of fixing the kinking wire problem, the cover over the drive rollers keeps falling closed over the area you are trying to work in, so I took the cover off to solve this problem. I am onto my second roll of gasless wire and find the new Lincoln wire I am using now, is a lot more rigid and I have not had the kinky problem I had before. I found the machine did not like running on household power even though I had a dedicated 15 amp outlet for it, I solved the problem by hooking two Honda 2EU generator sets in tandem (equivalent to 4KVA) and the welder runs beautifully off these. I had these gen sets for other purposes and do not suggest you invest $4k just to run a welder. In a past occupation I was a boilermaker welder for more than 12 years and found the quality of the welds is generally good, the penetration obtained with this machine is good and the variety of materials able to be tackled is also good. I have welded sheet metal successfully with it as well as built a tandem axle trailer chassis using the welder at virtually full bore to get the strength of weld I needed. As stated above OK for the price.
This unit is a piece of crap – I have old Mig welder and never had a problem welding with it until it decided to stop. Went and purchased a new unit and it's not has good has the OLD unit.
