only 8amps. And the reason why a fan was never fitted was to reduce power consumption. And most rv don't have a lot of powere. This is the most economical fridge for its size and very reliable if fitted by someone knowledgeable.
I have mixed feelings about this fridge. Generally it works really well, freezer freezes and the fridge gets cold, a couple of times it started to freeze itmes in the fridge. see if that resolves the problem. As a 12v fridge, its typical use would be caravan/camper. Why aren't there restraints on the doors and somewhat to effectively hold it in place???
Not the best fridge – It runs hot regardless of what temperature you seem to have it on. If it's a hot day and the cabin is hot, the fridge can't handle the air ambience and seems to run all the time, which draws a lot of solar power. I have started losing food. fan at the back to blow cool air around the motor. I will see how this goes at the moment I'm not impressed.

Rubbish – This is my second 138L upright brass monkey fridge and still the same problem. This fridge runs 24/7 and draws 4 - 5amps continuously and still unable to keep the fridge below 8 or 9 deg even if we never open the door. Show details

the door shelves are absolutely cr@p and one of the slots to hold them in cracked straight away.
The fridge needs to be designed with consideration of important food not spilling onto the floor and the door being left wide open while in transit.
I know that I can create my own solutions to these problems but when I spend $899 on a fridge, I shouldn’t have to.
To rectify, Brass Monkey really need to include an accessory pack of a door latch and bars to keep things in place, for free, with each purchase and should send this stuff to people who already have the fridge…. Until they improve their design.
My advice if you want to buy this fridge, have those essential accessories thrown in at no cost to you because you absolutely will need them.
Would not purchase again for this reason.
works well.no problems – purchased 1 month ago. fitted to caravan.bracketed to floor. fitted shelf rails from BCF.stops bottles etc from sliding onto door & pushing open. haven't had any problems with temps in freezer or fridge.works as expected. doors have not opened during travel. uses on average about 2ah .similar to a 55ltr & a 35ltr fridge which i also own. also have door straps fitted. Terrible, waste of money – Terrible, dissapointed, waste if hard earned money Bought this fridge from jaycar in oct22 installed in caravan had to hardwire in as has useless 12v plug. Had to stick baby locks on fridge and freezer to keep doors shut removed vege crisper so we could put milk in bottom. cold enough and now is not cooling at all. Haven't contacted jaycar yet but will on monday see if warranty. But i wouldnt recommend this fridge its less than 6 months old and stuffed.

Somewhat disappointed – I bought this fridge to use in my off grid home wich is double brick and In the mountains even in a fairly cool summer it struggles freezing things like ice cream it has to be set to at least 7 the fridge uses a lot of power I would recommend a 250 watt panel and at least 200watt lithium battery just for this fridge also fridge is extremely… Read more
noisy it sounds like a truck engine approaching from the distance when the compressor is running build quality is somewhat poor as well I had to return the first one due to creases in the metal skin also there were loose screws and a snipped off electric connector in the bottom of the box I think most people would be better off saving some more money and buying a better brand I have three twelve volt fridges one that I have had for 10 years I think realistically you need to expect to spend about 2000 dollars for a good one look for one with a Danfoss compressor if you can find one we bought this fridge because we were desperate to get an upright fridge that would run on solar within our budget while it works it hasn’t lived up to our expectations if it’s just a weekend vacation fridge it may be fine for you We have used this for a week so far and have yet to see what a really hot day will do for power consumption
Good fridge so long as you're not mounting it in a moving vehicle or caravan! – Although this fridge is a very good fridge & freezer, it has three major faults.. 1. There has been no allowance made for mounting this unit to the floor or bench in a moving vehicle, 2. 3. The door shelves are poorly fixed and will fall off when a 2 litre milk bottle is placed on them. They need to be better held onto the door and have higher sides. (Not deep enough)
As far as a keeping food cold no problems. It works very well. A little more thought put into the construction and you would have a terrific product.
C'mon Brass Monkey... make this a TRUE RV fridge and you're on a winner!
If you're looking for a 138L fridge/freezer, this product is not for you – Purchased it and got home, thought it looked small inside. Measured it up three times to be sure, and it's only a maximum of 115L in total. Freezer: 33L & fridge 82L. I was expecting at least a few litres difference, but 23L is quite significant when it comes to a $900 caravan fridge. Contacted the company who never returned my emails so I took it back into the store for a refund.
