Brass dud – I have been using a 25lt Brass Monkey fridge freezer for more than two years. It is primarily used as a freezer. At mid 20c deg ambient temperatures it struggles to maintain a temperature -15 and does not shut down. At higher ambient temperatures it will not hold -15c at all and the internal temperature will climb. In the evening when it cools… Read more

down it will run continuously all night and may approach -15c the next morning. Today the ambient temperature is in the low 40c and the freezer is struggling at -3c . The 12v power consumption is very high. I have had to change to my Waeco cfx 40 as my freeze instead of being a fridge , it is holding a -17c temperature and doesn't use any where near the power the Brass Monkey consumes, The 25lt Brass Monkey doesn't operate well in Australian conditions as least in the West.

Loud compressor – Was good initially but has become very noisy. Took it back to Jaycar who had a listen and say that's normal. Humming while running is so loud that at quiet campsite will interrupt sleep - had to keep in the car at night to get some peace. Gets to temperature quickly and runs for a full day on a 24aH battery pack. Edit: complained again and was… Read more

given a replacement - which works great! Still hums a bit. But nothing like the first one - which it seems had a faulty fan.

Low energy rating I think – The insulation/cold making not good. I put 3 bottle of 600ml bottled water in it on a maximum 30C (degrees) warm day from the morning 9 AM in QLD with car boot open in the shade , the compressor kept running all day until about 6 hours later at about 3PM to get room temperature (25C) water to 4C. The 40AH 12V lithium battery totally drained from fully charged because of this.
