Commercial Standard – Would not buy another brand ever Used hours per day every day for years and years. Cannot get it in Australia any more for some reason so the last one I imported from the USA Have been using them since early 90's and every time I sell a restaurant business I would set up a new restaurant and buy the best food processor on the market the Braun K650 Better than a robocoup at a fraction of the price. Spare bowls lids and blades easy to get.  Show details

Food Processor with plastic motor block – Although I've had this for a few years it doesn't get as much use as it takes up too much room in a small kitchen. Have just used it to grate zucchini carrot and cheese and the motor block snapped in half --can I buy a new block? It has give me no other trouble and I was very happy with it

Dislike this machine intensely – This machine has been a big disappointment since the day it was purchased about 8 years ago to replace a very old Breville Kitchen Whiz. I loved the Whiz, which worked like a charm for almost 2 decades, but unfortunately the plastic lid was ruined (melted and distorted) when it was inadvertently placed on top of a very hot stove element for a… Read more

couple of minutes. I used it for so many things - making cakes and pastry, chopping bread into crumbs, pureeing soups, making mayonnaise and pesto ..... etc etc - and they always turned out well, so I was almost in tears when it had to be discarded.

I can't think of many good points about the Braun replacement, except the fact that the main bowl is a good size, and the machine still works - but that is probably because I don't use it a lot these days. I now prefer to use a mixer for making cakes, and make pastry by hand.

However, there are numerous bad points that readily come to mind:

1) It has a big footprint and takes up almost twice as much space on the bench top as the Whiz used to.

2) Secondly, it is very noisy even at low speeds, and once it is set beyond level 6 on the controller it becomes almost unbearably so. At this point it also begins to vibrate alarmingly - for this reason I have never dared to use it beyond level 8 (it goes up to 14) for fear it would blow up or fall off the bench top.

3) Once it has been working for more than a few minutes, a funny smell (it reminds me of hot engine oil, or a motor that is about to blow) starts to come out of it.

4) I have never been able to get the smaller bowl and blade to fit in and work, despite following the instructions. No matter what I do, the lid won't fit into the slot correctly when the small bowl is in place and therefore the machine won't turn on.

5) The blade in the large bowl doesn't seem to work as well as the one in the Whiz when small quantities are used. For example, the 1-2 egg mayonnaises I used to make in the old machine always turned out beautifully, but in this machine I need to use a minimum of 3 eggs to get a decent result (the small bowl & blade would have solved this problem, but of course I have never been able to get it to work).

6) Finally, it seems to be more difficult to clean than the Whiz. There are lots of little ridges of plastic on the bowl and the plastic part of the blade where bits of food, cake mix or whatever seem to lodge, and these are hard to clean off properly.

In short, I am amazed that some other people gave this machine 4 or 5 stars. Their experience with it seems to have been so different to mine (and the previous reviewer's). It does still work, and it makes bread crumbs for the Xmas turkey a lot faster than can be done by hand Mainly its noisiness and its tendency to rattle & vibrate a lot, and the fact that the small bowl doesn't function

Excellent – I like this food processor, I use it a few times a week usually with no problems. It is the first one I've owned, brought after using a friend's one and liking the way it operated. The whole bph thing came to light way after I'd bought this, so maybe the new ones are made of a different material? Doesn't bother me overly, the bowl is not battered… Read more

and I just don't leave food sitting in it. Works on a good variety of foods, easy clean, good price. Now realise the bowl and lid are made of BHP containing material. Would prefer something NOT made from that.

OK – Sad... This looked to be very versatile with the features.. I was actually looking for the 750 with the 2 bowls installed. It looks an aweful lot like I may have to open the purse and go for the Magimix.. From all the reviews here and elsewhere it seemed to be the best choice for my needs. Obviously no longer available in Australia.(Oct 09 ) Even… Read more

onsite sources either say "no longer available" or the page is no longer in existance.. Googling comes up with zilch..

Terrible – I bought this processor around 6 years ago and it is poor quality. With the flimsy plastic bowl, blunt blades, weak motor and dodgy switches it is no wonder that it is discontinued and good riddance. It was with pleasure that I tossed it in to the Sulo after another piece of the plastic bowl broke off making it inoperable so I could purchase a… Read more

Magimix guilt free. The first trouble came with the bowl then the pulse switch then the speed switch and finally the bowl locking tabs. It got a good workout over the years doing an adequate job but it was always lacking in finesse. Best feature was the sealed blade stem the down side was the bearings in the plastic bowl. sealed drive stopped liquids spilling through the centre poor performance and quality

Good – I think this is a reasonably good appliance for the price. I Can't afford to upgrade yet, but if you can afford it I would recommend having a look at some other similar appliances on the market. The price Easy to clean cord storage at the back A little too bulky Doesn't come with whipping attachment (for baking) as shown on box. The blade isn't as sharp anymore only have had for 2 years and used about a dozen times.
