Braun Series 8

I expected a better and closer shave for $300. The razor is noisy and the trimmer is clumsy to use. Don't know why so many give it a positive review. I have used electric razors for decades and this has been the worst for providing a good shave.
Follow-up · Its just not a comfortable shave, I pretty much have to shave daily to avoid the shaver tugging whiskers and causing some discomfort. I just expected a better shave for what I paid.
Terrible shaver. It hardly shaves whiskers. I bought another foil but it was no better so I bought another one and still barely shaves. I paid around $300 for this piece of junk. I’ve gone back to using safety razors.
A briliant shave in every respect – My old Braun shaver was fading after 15+ years and I decided to go with another Braun foil - this time the series 8 which was on sale in NZ Shaver Shop at $349. Anyhow, I was amazed! Best shave I've had in years. The series 8 is slightly lighter and quieter than my previous one and I was dubious it would do the job, but it cuts through 99% of my beard with ease. Can't rate it highly enough. Show details
Shocking after sales support – I purchased an S8 wet dry but lost charge cord. Just about impossible to contact support re getting new one. After dozens of pages one after the other zero way of contacting. Service page you’re just blocked by requirement to put in 4 digit number. Which is NOT where their pics say it should be. So after removing most covers i put in every 4 digit… Read more
number it had yet absolutely nothing. ZERO way of getting replacement parts. I wish i knew this before i wasted my money. Best place for Braun is the bin Will NEVER buy again
Really bad product with no customer service. Never again Braun – I purchased on 14/06/21 a Braun Series 8 shaver at Harvey Norman. From the first shave on it tortured me, red skin, unevenly shaved, long shaving times, just was a nightmare. There was a cashback promotion for this specific item and i contacted the Braun hotline. After giving them my details I was told that i was about a week over the promotion… Read more
period. I didn't even realize that i was, but after double-checking it on the calendar i have to admit that she was spot on.
Pleading that we have had been through various lockdowns, that half the world is currently going insane, and that it is literally just a few items and the shaver was hardly used as it useless for me didn't help.
Thanks to a poor product and even poorer customer service i am stuck with a pretty expensive item i will not be able to use. Not happy about it at all and i will most definitely never again buy a Braun product. While i agree and admit that i can be blamed that i was a few days late, there still should be some understanding for a customer in such a situation and with all the lockdowns around.
Good quality and value – I haven't used an electric shaver in years and was impressed by the improvements and closeness of the shave it gives compared to the electric shavers of yesteryear. It charges surprisingly fast and takes up next to no space at all when we go travelling around. I use it on a daily basis and it hasn't irritated my skin or left rashes so it's a thumbs up for me and cleaning is simple and would recommend a can of the lubricant too. Show details
Poor quality foils make this product worthless! – I am not the type of person to leave a review…. ever – and let alone a negative one. But I feel the need to warn people that purchase of this product is an enormous waste of money. I paid $AU 275 for what I thought would be a fairly high-end shaver which would last for years and justify the price tag. The reality: it’s not even lasted a year. The… Read more
slide-out ‘precision trimmer’ has the precision of a defunct lawn mower and will leave your sideburns as uneven as an alien’s forehead. The biggest problem however is the foil, which will be in need of replacement within weeks. I am on my second foil in 10 months and found that (whether shaving wet or dry) within a matter of days they start cutting your skin, and in a matter of weeks, they feel rough and worn. You are not able to return the product since the company's returns policy excludes any issues with the foil (and at a cost of $45, the replacements don’t come cheap). At a time when the EU is attempting to encourage longer product lifespan (to stop us senselessly throwing products away), Braun have spectacularly managed to reverse-engineer their foils into disposable junk in order to better line their pockets. Shame on them for trashing what used to be a badge of quality – “Made in Germany” – and abandoning shavers that were formerly of an impeccable standard (as I know from using their older models).
