Poor quality product
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSI bought The Smart Kettle from JB Hi-Fi in March 2020. I used it 1-3 times per day and treated it well - it was never subjected to any type of physical damage. Despite that, within 6-8 months it had developed multiple cracks in the plastic part of the lid and the plastic around the water-level indicator. So about 12 months after purchase, I took it back to JB Hi-Fi and they kindly swapped it over for a new one.
Alas, the new one began to develop the exact same cracking issues in the lid and water-level indicator within 6 months, which has gott

Yesterday, I found a small piece of blueish clear plastic in my tea. It turns out part of the plastic on the top of the water-level indicator had chipped off and fallen into my mug while pouring - I didn't notice and almost swallowed it. See attached photos for how the replacement kettle looks today (after having it for approx 2 years). Good Stuff - The variable temperature settings work well. - Generally heats quite quickly (at the expense of being noisy). The Bad StuffI absolutely love it. Lux looking and super quiet. Big thumbs up from me!
The Smart KettleThis kettle does have a fantastic safety feature as it sits quite firmly in the base and is not easily knocked over. It also remains cool to the touch whilst boiling and will beep after 85 seconds to let you know it has finished. The beep is helpful as it boils much quieter than other kettles.
Fantastic Kettle
The Smart KettleWe bought our first one 12 years ago and were immediately impressed.
Fast to boil, quiet, easy to fill & pour and looked far pricier than it was.
The kettle was light and easy to lift with a chunky handle and allowed you to neatly hide the excess cable out of sight in the base. None of the buttons were fiddly and required little effort to press.
It did have a loud beep when it announced it had reached your desired temp but we never used the keep warm feature.
It was really easy to keep clean but the writing on both the kettle and base did wea
Non existing customer service with poor quality product Smart Kettle
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSDon' buy Breville products.- waste of money - product don't last (smart kettle KB825)
For more than a month that I have been trying Breville 1300 customer service number does not exist, claiming "they are in training" Unbelievable rubbish.....
They don't even acknowledge, nor respond back to on-line submitted complaints.
4.5 years ago I purchased from Myers a Breville Smart Kettle KB825. I paid $179 - not a cheap kettle
18 months Myers replaced it because the cut off switch stopped working - the kettle kept boiling non stop.
Less than three years old, the green plastic lid of the replaced unit started to display crazed cracking with rust spots around the stainless rim.

Useless Kettle…a waste of money!
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSThe look of the kettle doesn’t justify its usefulness. This product looks amazing, very neat & clean. The shiny stainless steel is perfect. However, when this is used, you’ll be annoyed as it doesn’t functions well. It keeps on flashing and never boils. Sometimes it keeps boiling and never stops until you turn off the switch! My husband bought again hoping that the second new item will function well but still the faults are showing. That’s why we decided not to patronise this Breville product (we also had our 3rd Breville rice cooker and had same fate- useless Breville Product!). Now, we’re using other brand. Never again for this Breville Kettle & other Breville products.

The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSI have had two of these kettles, the first lasted 2 weeks and the start button failed. I exchanged this and with the second one, the lid started to skew after 7 months and wouldn’t close properly. For the price of this kettle you would expect the quality to be excellent unfortunately it’s not.

The Smart KettleThis is my second Breville Smart Kettle - bought first one a few years ago, it died in a few months, took it back to BigW and decided never again.
But a few month ago I was given another, near-brand new, barely had any use. And lo and behold, same fate befalls it.
It just stopped working -- all the lights and buttons work, but the actual kettle never starts to boil the water.

The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSDoesn't switch off after reaching boiling temp. Pretty dangerous really and a waste of electricity. Needs to be constantly monitored. $20 kettles work better than this, and are much safer.
Great while it worked
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSDesign well thought out and worked great, variable temperature setting came in handy.
All good - until the warranty ran out.
One day it simply refused to turn on and just beeped when any setting was selected.
We cleaned the inside with vinegar just in case any buildup was interfering with the temperature sensor, left it unplugged to reset any electronics but all to no avail.
At this price point, Breville need to stand behind their product and up their warranty to 3-5 years to match the price premium.

Pretty and cool features but it’ll need to be replaced in less than 5 years.
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSLove the look & features but they are not robust and fail in about 4 to 5 years max. I’ve owned two and the second has just failed. Both seals deteriorated over time and then cracks appeared in the lid. Water has now bubbled over through crack in lid an impacted electrics, now dead. Had bought my mum one also, hers is still going but has aged poorly. Not what you want for a premium kettle at a premium price.

The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSAt $200 odd for this kettle I thought I was getting a top of the line. It worked fine up until recently when I was pouring water and the lid broke off and boiling water went everywhere! Dangerous! Lid broke just from use once or twice a day not from dropping!
Called up Breville customer Service only to be told the Kettle is 5 Years old. How could it be 5 Years old as we only got given the kettle last year. Judging by other reviews this is a common response from Breville and it seems like a common product fault!
No ownership or responsibility
... Read moreor duty of care shown by Breville. They dont care that the lid degrades, only to break off whilst pouring boiling water everywhere. I was told they don’t even have a replacement part so I can’t get the kettle repaired. I was told my only option was to find the receipt to get it replaced direct from the store!! Yeah I would have done that first before calling Breville if I could have. It was a gift! Buyer beware! Hope this review deters you from ever buying Breville again.Doesn't turn off
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSThis was the 2nd Breville kettle I bought, with the first one no longer working after 2 years, so I replaced it with another. This kettle would boil and not turn off, until you switched it off. The first time this happened the kettle almost boiled dry. Eventually, the buttons for the temperature settings only worked on 100% with the other buttons not working at all. Again this occurred a couple of years after use.

Temperatures are inaccurate and hottest setting is not hot enough
The Smart Kettle BKE825BSSI bought this kettle specifically because of the temperature settings. My Aeropress coffee press requires water at 85 degrees but I still need the hottest water possible for tea.
After a few months use, I noticed that my tea (at hottest setting) was not as hot as water boiled in a normal kettle. As an experiment, I compared results of the water temperatures vs the settings on the kettle.
Sure enough, the 100 degree button only heated the water to 93 degrees. All the other settings were under the stated temperature by 5-8 degrees. This may so
... Read moreund like I'm being over critical, but I paid extra for this feature and it doesn't work as specified and I've got lukewarm tea after a splash of milk. A kettle that can't boil water for tea is useless. On a few positive notes, the kettle is decently made and the wide mouth makes it easy to clean and descale.Poor quality - avoid this product
The Smart Kettle BKE825CRNThe kettle completely fell apart after 5 years of use, which is not something we would expect from a premium product. The lid completely came off after cracks appeared in the plastic. While outside of the warrantee period, I would have expected Breville to replace, given the nature of the materials failing. However, they said it was just wear and tear, and that they would not replace it. The best they could do was $110 (30% off typical retail price for a new one). We'll just wait for a sale and get another one that doesn't have known defects.

The Smart Kettle BKE825CRNWe were given this kettle for our wedding- looked great! Nice colour, good features
Sadly, the quality was not good for the price point. Eventually it disintegrated entirely, after first developing a cracked lid, and Breville were not helpful at all. I made several attempts to contact them- hilariously I have never received the promised call back.
My husband was more strategic and found an email which wasn’t easy! Lots of farcical emails back and forth and ultimately no actual outcome , we had to post the entire kettle back to them (includi

After many torturous emails they concluded that they couldn’t help us but would sell us a new one at a “generous” discount (still at a pretty hefty price point) - um, no. We have been boiling water in a saucepan for weeks now but we will now go and buy a different brand and won’t be buying Breville again. It’s a shame because we also have their espresso machine but the appalling customer service and torturous systems have put me off entirely. They over promised and under delivered and kept talking about “your perfect coffee “ - not a good experience.Questions & Answers
The kettle turns on press the temperature then press the start button nothing happens
Lift the kettle out of the base with power on. Set temp then the start button. Your kettle should automatically boil on the same temp setting everytime. You don't have to touch temp setting unless you are changing temperature.
It lights up but won’t boil
I have a new smart kettle which is supposed to have 3 beeps but the kettle is completely silent any idea's? Bob
