I guess I was lucky – I've had this kettle for 10 years & didn't have any leaking issues until year 9 of its life. At first I thought I must be pouring in the water wrong, but then realised that it was consistently leaking even when I was being careful. After reading all these reviews though, I see that mine made it pretty far with no leaks for almost a decade! I was… Read more
now searching for something similar, sad it's been discontinued, guess the leaking issues couldn't be resolved.
Best kettle ever, and looks like a kettle! – I have just started to use number 5 of this kettle. The reason why I had it is because we live a distance from shops,so always like to have a spare on hand. I have never had a problem with them and am gutted they are discontinued. Occasionally one may have had a small leak, but a lot of electrical kettles do. Hopefully by the time this one dies there will be a similar one back on the market Show details
Another Leaker after about 4 years – I came here to see if anyone had a similar problem and solution. I love this kettle so I dismantled it to find the cause of the leak, and it appears its coming from the round seals that the water level is attached to. I'm going to write to Breville now and see if I can get some new seals and a new water level even though I know the product is discontinued. Will update this later if I have success.
It leaks – Mine is 4 years old and like everyone else's, it has stated to leak from the base and sits in a puddle of water. I am now on the hunt for a replacement, and came across this review page. I am glad I did, as I was going to buy another of the same kettle but won't now! it looks nice it leaks!
Over 5 years old - now failed due to leak – This model is now discontinued by Breville (still on their website however). I used the "Keep warm" function to make cup top filter coffee - quite handy whilst cooking too. Mine had served quite a bit of use, I always filled it from a brita-filter jug, so inside was always clean. One day (earlier this year), it leaked rather dramatically. Upon… Read more
inspection, the little pipe attached inside to the base (overflow), had detached revealing a rusty weld.
I contacted Breville, knowing that it was well out of warranty, but just wanted to let them know and really to enquire as to whether this was a known design flaw and had been addressed in later models (or revision of this model, I would have bought again).
They were quite receptive and asked for further info. They weren't however able to advise in the end whether it was (known design flaw and addressed in later models).
A discount (about 30%) was offered on a range of replacement kettles. Keep warm function, appearance, speed and volume. Design (or manufacturing) flaw - overflow tube, hard to remove lid to refill after boil (hot & tight), not available in red.
Leaking – Good and fast boiling as it take the maximum power 2400W. After use it for a year and half, may be 2 years the kettle started water leaking from the base. I can see a lot of comment also mention water leaking. I think is a design issue and can cause fire hazard. Good and fast boiling as it take the maximum power 2400W. After use it for a year and half, may be 2 years the kettle started water leaking from the base.
Was good at first now leaks really bad – I've owned this kettle for about a year. The first maybe 6 months it worked really well then started to leak really badly. I'm not just talking a little bit, It would sit in a huge puddle of water. It became a safety risk so we had to replace it. It was a shame as it was a nice looking kettle. It's appearance Leaked terribly
Yes, it leaks – As everybody else says: nice kettle but it leaks. For an electrical item, that's a potentially fatal flaw. This stylish kettle looks good but it simply should not be on the market. A leaking kettle in this day and age is simply unforgivable. Breville should be ashamed of itself for lending its name to this product. Looks good. It leaks. Don't buy it.
It boils water – This is my second one of the same jug. Had the first one a number of years and then it started to leak. Asked my husband to pic up a new jug (not plastic as I hate them) and he came home with the same one. It has been updated with a keep warp button but I have never used this. It boils quickly and looks nice on the bench. After a year the… Read more
new jug doesn't correctly show how much water it has in it. The little water measure thing can be 3/4 full and yet there is next to nothing in the jug. Can't see anything blocking it so don't know what the problem is. I now have to life the jug to be sure that there is enough water in it. Very frustrating. Love the shape, quick to boil. Water measure no longer works.
Looks great, Boils OK, It's just that it leaks – I liked the look of the kettle, the stay warm feature was quirky but interesting. I'm an electrical engineer and so saw it as another point of possible failure but what the heck. The unit heats quickly and I don't consider it noisy, the base was nice and stable, I don't like tall kettles you could knock them over if you're clumsy. The only… Read more
problem is the leaks, the leaking base on open electrical contacts.
It's a fire hazard, simple as that!!
The earlier reviews that described leaks were dates from 2009, I bought mine in 2011 so not fixed then!!
If Breville read this, Please fix the problem and I'll buy another Nice shape, easy to pour, quick boiling It leaks, a lot of them seem to leak! Stay away!
Hi An update on my review. I made contact with Breville to complain about the kettle and was… Read more
A good kettle that keeps boiled water hot – This kettle does the job. I was in search of a kettle with a wide base, as I don't like those tall ones, and a spout that can pour water correctly...this kettle is both. I have owned the kettle for about 18 months now and it has been really great, heats water up at a moderate pace and with the keep warm function you can keep the kettle boiled… Read more
for the whole time when friends are around for a tea. The lid can be easily removed to fill which is a great option as some kettles can be a bit of a pain to fill.
From time to time the button to start the boil function has become stuck and the kettle kept boiling continuously, so that was a bit of a concern but that has for some reason ceased. As the kettle is now out of warranty I'm not going to bother taking it back to the place of purchase. Let's just see how long it lasts.
All in all I like the kettle but am a bit concerned of the failing button, hopefully I can get another 6 months out of it before having to purchase another. Wide base, keep warm button, easy fill top. Boiling start button sticks.
Bad – After reading other reviews of this kettle I have noticed that the leaking problem is very common with this product. Breville should be held accountable and not be allowed to sell a product that could end up being an electrical hazard. Very disappointed. I would have thought an $80 kettle would last longer than one year. was great till it started leaking. After 1 year and 3 weeks it has started leaking around the power switch.
Looks great! But after a year started to leak badly ! Electricity and leaky kettles don't mix. I… Read more
OK – Would buy again if leak issue is fixed. Looks good on the bench and has always done It's job. Reluctant to get rid of it but feel I must for safety. Quick to boil, reliable, looks good Leaks around base near the electrical plug, not good! Will need to replace for fear of someone being electrocuted.
Have purchased three Breville kettles in just over a year...second one to replace the first one… Read more

No complaints with this kettle! – We bought this kettle as it was on sale and it hasn't let us down in over a year of regular use. It has a fairly pointless (to us) function of a switch you can flick and it keeps the water boiling. My worry is that this added function could become faulty and stop the kettle from working. That said, it hasn't so I'm probably looking for problems… Read more
that aren't there!
Water boils quickly, if noisily. Boils water quickly. Very noisy when boiling water.
leaky kettle – The kettle looks good and worked fine for a few weeks, but then began to leak, I called Breville and got it replaced and the second one was the same. I didn't bother calling them about it, as the place was 30 minutes away, it was seriously not worth wasting time over, I ended up buying a sunbeam kettle from woolworths and haven't had a problem.… Read more
Maybe a bad batch I guess, and I had the salesman says its common, but it was a first for me. Looks good, leaked, had it replaced as it was under warranty, and yep you guessed it the next one leaked as well, maybe a bad batch??
OK – My Russell Hobbs has conked out, but I could not immediately find a kettle with a handle on top. When I did I bought it [$89 I think it was] but have been disappointed. Handle on the top seems ergonomicaly wrong, and a bit heavy to lift. Noisy when boiling. Not as easy to get the hole in the kettle on the element on the base as it shuld be.
Excellent – Bought this and its matching toaster to replace my crappy Russel Hobbs set. Looks much nicer, nice retro-y rounded look while still suiting all my other modern appliances. Havnt really used the keep warm function, seems to stay pretty warm as it is. Overall very happy with this product. Looks great, boils fast, is quiet
Good – Pretty good product. We've only had it for 5 months but have had no problems. It has started to get a crust on the bottom but all kettles do that. I love the keep warm function which is great to always have warm/hot water available. I really like the lookof this kettle but the lovely brushed steel look is continued onto part of the lid so… Read more
often I have burn't myself while trying to pull off the lid(ie: if you boil the kettle twice in a row. The lid is pretty tight which I liked but when you try get it off your hand is between the handle and the lid so often while putting a lot of force into pulling off the lid I tend to squash my hand into the handle. Good size, No wires & keeps water warm Lid can burn you
Terrible – Trying to find receipt to take it back. I would not buy again. Should not leak after such a short time. Looks good. Boiled water quickly. We used it all the time to boil water for our baby's bottles. Kettle started to leak about 2.5 months after we purchased it. I cant find my receipt which is a bugger. Not happy with the product.
Excellent – This is the best kettle that I have used. The fact that it's cordless is very useful. I love the look of it- its retro and modern at the same time. The cord folds neatly around the base so it ease easy to store. Love so many things about it- it doesn't get dirty and gross like other kettles and it looks nice. Sometimes the lid is a bit tough to… Read more
pull out so I end up just pouring the water into the spout. The rest of the emporia collection was ugly and I got the lumina toaster to match because I thought they looked nicer together.
Good – i brought the breville emporia about 6 months ago and it has been the best kettle i have ever brought,it heats the water up very quick and is also a very quiet boiler, the only bad things about it is that it can get quite rust on the bottom inside of the kettle,i have cleaned mine twice scince owning it as it does look very grotty great kettle, now… Read more
cords to worry about and if on sale is reasonably [riced the bottom of the kettle inside does get grotty and is a bit hard to clean and also this kettle is on the expensive side unless you can get one sale
Good – I love this kettle! It looks great and it has been a reliable, fantastic little number. I have the standard chrome and black and I have had no issues with leaks. I also have had no issue with noise - and my unit is very small! I've recommended this product to friends, one of which has bought the kettle and also has been satisfied. The look, the keep warm function, the capacity. Can bump the power button easily as it sticks out.
Bad – We bought this kettle originally when a power surge took out every appliance in the house and thought we were getting a good kettle because we have alot of other breville items and they have all been great. But this really let the team down! We have put up with the noise for far too long and it seems to be getting noisier with age I liked the… Read more
look of it originally It is definately very loud. You can not hear the TV or have a conversation with someone. The outside stays very hot for some time and you can accidentally turn it on all the time because the power on switch sticks out at the base. I think this agrees with everyone elses problems with it.
Bad – We bought this kettle because we liked the look of it, but apart from that it isn't that great. I find that I often accidentally turn it on when I place groceries on the counter next to it. You have to really tilt your hand to pour all the water out. Being stainless steel, the outside stays hot for a long time. I also found this kettle extremely … Read more
noisy and it often wakes up my daughter in the morning when I turn it on. I wouldn't recommend buying this product. Looks good Scratches easily. It is very loud when in use

Rinse it with descaling fluid, that'll probably fix it for you or just give it a really good shake ! :)
