Quiet - for a while – Bizarre how Breville can market this specifically for it's quiet boil technology. Yes, it may be quiet for a while, but as other reviewers have said it gets noisier over time (and it's still getting louder.....and louder....). Clean it - well, Breville say you have to use their kettle cleaner to avoid damage (yeah, right), so we bought it (of… Read more

course more expensive than lesser normal cleaners!), used it - and? f*ck all difference.

Breville you should be ashamed and happily refund people who bought this by your misleading and deceptive marketing.

Houston, we have a problem! – I bought it as it claimed to have "quiet boil" technology. It surely is the noisiest kettle we've ever had, so much so that we have to turn up the TV when it's operating! Boils fast enough but sounds like a rocket taking off. We've also noticed that the platstic parts around the lid are deteriorating badly and this is not a good look for a kettle that's only had 2-3 years of work.  Show details

Loud boil technology kettle – We have had this kettle for the last 8 years and it has been great, the best kettle we have owned,it boils the water pretty quick and the soft closing lid is great for easy fill ups under the tap or when been filled up with a jug, with the cordless operation you can lift it off its base pour it anywhere needed ,which is very easy with large soft… Read more

cushion handle, another great feature is the large water guage that is great when filling or seeing how much water is left in the kettle, the guage is illuminated blue when the kettle is boiling which looks great, however the blue light stopped working after about 12 months and hasnt worked since ,but thats really the only thing that has gone wrong in 8 years.

I dont know how or who said it has quiet boil technology , because this kettle would have to be the noisiest kettle that I have owned, but saying that its a great kettle and has payed for it self time and time again. Looks great, easy to use and boils fast. Noisy .

Not so quiet - Lasted for 2 years – Not so quiet - Lasted for 2 years. 1. This kettle is quite noisy. 2. Another issue is that its 2400 watts (10 Amps) and we kept tripping the circuit breaker if we plugged in another appliance at the same time. This was quite inconvenient when you had quests and the kitchen was busy. 3.The final issue was the element - it only lasted for 2 years… Read more

and no - we didn't boil it dry.

Looks nice but does not perform for the price!

Not good value. Looks nice. Noisy, Trips circuit breakers, Element blows after 2 yrs, Poor value.

Not Quiet – I laughed when I read quiet boil because it is not quiet at all, quite the opposite it is Loud. In saying that it looks nice and I have had mine for 8 years and it still works. The lid opens and is large enough to fill up without making a mess. The blue light is a nice addition. Lasts. Loud

Great kettle – This wold have to be my favorite kettle to date. It has a large top opening for easy pouring of water jugs. It has a lovely blue light that shows the water levels,on the side of e kettle. Water boils very quickly. Not sure about the 'quiet oil' technology though. Still quite loud to me. Large top opening, quick oil, nice design Can be noisy especially at night

Not so quiet – I am sure this kettle has got noisier as it has got older. It is not quiet at all. If I had the receipt I would demand my money back, easy to fill though and looks nice. Perhaps we should start to demand a test run in the shop, otherwise how is one to know. Boils water. Easy to fill Noisy !!!!

Love this kettle! – I bought this kettle last year and love it. I like the light indicator which tells me when it is on and the clear indication of the water level. It is very very quiet and it makes a delightful little "ting" sound when the water is ready. I wrote to Breville to claim a $20 refund which was on offer at the time of purchase. I was most impressed to… Read more

So not quite – If you want a kettle that you can't hear yourself think over then this is for you. It's so noisy, not quite at all ! Do not buy there are other kettles out there better. Now it is time for me to go and look for one. No more breville for me ! No much shape stainless steel look Noisy, it's misleading that they say it's quite

it's noisy! – This kettle looks great, but as for being quiet boil, nope, not a chance. No matter what I do to it, it's so loud, probably the noisiest I've ever had. Will not buy again and do not recommend, which is sad as I love breville products. Every time we go shopping I look for something to replace it. Looks Noise

Love it love it love it ! ! ! – I have had this beautiful appliance for 20 months now and it still works like it did on day 1. It looks great, boils water quickly, makes almost no noise... You can overfill it and it will not boil over; you can use it with less than recommended minimum amount and it will still work. Has great safety features which still work… Read more

What can I say other than our family absolutely loves it as apart from looking great it truly works great, we use it 10+ times per day and has never disappointed us.

Even if it died tomorrow I would head out and happily buy the same model again. The look/design, capacity, speed, reliability, safety features

"Not" so Quiet boil technology – Not being able to decide on a particular kettle, I decided to buy this one because of the "Quiet Boil Technology" which promised to boil quietly. Unfortunately it must be a sales pitch, because this kettle boils at about the noise level as my old kettle, but it is much much noisier when getting to the boil. if I am standing near the kettle while… Read more

Apart from the noise, the kettle does look nice and certainly boils water. looks good, good window to check level very noisy

I can't hear you, the kettle's on – If this rating system had an OK star system I would select that. It's ok, but definitely NOT good, and bad is probably a little harsh. We use filtered water in ours, so haven't had the "disgusting taste" issues others have had, not sure if that's why. I do remember reading that it needed a few full boils and drains before drinking the water,… Read more

which we did. I've rated it poorly purely because it's meant to be a "quiet boil" kettle. Not sure what "quiet boil technology" Breville uses for this kettle but they really need to get their money back on the patent. It aint quiet!!!

A couple of times it's failed to switch off, (ie kept boiling) but hasn't done that in ages.

We drink heaps of tea, probably 5-6 a day when at home, 3-4 on working days - so use this kettle all the time. We buy expensive tea from T2 or Tea Company etc, so use premium tea in a pot. It seems reliable and boils the water hot. I also use it for cooking, as I pour the boiled / hot water from the jug into the saucepan to start off the vegies / pasta etc on the stove top. IMO it gets a good hammering!

We were unaware we had an Ikon quiet boil until my brother was looking at buying one and asked us about ours, when we read the lid we realised we had quiet boil technology LOL, other than that it is noisy as, and we never realised it was meant to be a quiet kettle. Apparently the sales man told him that you need to clean the scale off it for the quiet boil to work. :-( As I am a low maintenance cleaner in this household we are stuck with a noisy kettle LOL!!!! Water is hot, goes the distance Hot to touch, and noisy as school load of kids on their first bus excursion

BAD TASTE – The boiled water tastes terrible. Is it chemicals leaching from the plastic lid? Made in China. Do they use all those bits of plastc from recycled computers? I will ask if Breville will pay for my one to be tested at an independent lab. I would strongly advise anyone against buying this BKE570 model until I get an answer from Breville. We boil… Read more

Will not purchase this item again – The Kettle looks flash with the blue light going, however the water stays tainted with a metal taste for at least 3 months. Then the jugs begins to leak and last of all it stopped going just 2 months out of a 12 month warranty. The jug also does start of quiet, then ends up noisy. We have gone back to Russell Hobbs which has a 2yr warranty. Leaves a tainted metal taste, noisy and stopped going just outside of warranty.

Pardon, what....I can't hear you, the kettle is on! – We bought this to replace our Russell Hobbs Whisper kettle that got noisy after 6 months or so of use. It looked great, blue lights, quiet, all sounded great except the price tag of $130, however we went for it as we like quiet, sssshhhh, quiet.......BIG MISTAKE! PS. Do not buy this kettle for quietness, even if on special this is Design and blue lights! Expensive, lost quietness within 3 days, stain/finger print magnet

Disappointing for the money – I have had two in the last eight weeks and both have leaked at the base near the on/off switch. The 'quiet boil' doesn't seem so quiet after a week or so. Overall I wasn't impressed, intend to get my money back tomorrow. From the look of other reviews this is not the only problem with this kettle. An inferior product that reflects badly on… Read more

Breville's quality standards. Nice design, the blue light looks good, like the flip-up lid for easy filling from the tap Leaky (dangerous with an electrical appliance) expensive, didn't 'quiet boil' for long, hard to keep clean as every mark & dust speck seems to show up on the surface

Bad – Nice, looks good, hard to know when overfilled (you soon work it out!) but needs to be more reliable than that. Great fast pouring and fast filling - easy flip lid, easy off and on its pedestal. First one's light did not come on at all - replaced immediately. Second one lasted exactly 18 months then element DIED - it tripped the house safety… Read more

Bad – Looks good and I like the blue light when switched on to boil, but wouldn't recommend it if you are buying is just for the quiet technology it says it has. Looks good and I like the cushioned lid pop up and the ping it makes when it is ready. It lost it's quietness after only 3 days. No point paying that much money for a kettle that sounds the same as all the others.

Terrible – We have had 2 replacements - now its out of warranty and it is STILL NOT QUIET - I should have kept my old kettle - we still have to turn the TV up every time I boil the kettle None - oh but it does look good NOT QUIET and EXPENSIVE

Terrible – Very disappointed in this kettle. You cannot drink the coffee/tea made using this kettle. Very nasty metallic taste. for their babies. I have gone back to using my old kettle.

Best advice, if you do buy this kettle, keep the receipt as you may need it! I love the look of this kettle, very sleek and nice blue light. Unfortunately the water boiled in this kettle has a bitter metallic taste. This continues despite doing the preparations as per the instructions and also following further advice from Breville. It is very beautiful but unusable!

Terrible – This is an awful kettle. The water tastes metallic, it overboils every time, spits water from the spout and sounds like a jumbo jet taking off! I returned the first one thinking maybe I had a lemon but the second was just as bad. Put up with it for six weeks then returned it for a refund. Very, very disappointed with this kettle. Looks stylish Too many to mention

Bad – The real let-down is the water quality after boiling - all other features are secondary to this, as undrinkable water defeats the purpose of using the kettle in the first place. If Breville are able to rectify this problem, they will have a first class product, as everything else seems perfect! Beautiful design, quiet unobtrusive boiling, and… Read more

great little 'bell' to signal that water has boiled. Initially, none, however - after using this kettle for approximately a month, we are noticing that an unpalatable metallic taste is imparted into boiled water. It does not make any difference whether we use tap water or tank water, so it is definitely coming from the kettle. Very disappointing, and will be returning the kettle for a refund.

Excellent – This is the best kettle I have ever owned. Mine does not have a metallic taste like other reviewers mention. I don't know when it has finished boiling as it is so quiet. Good – This is a good investment for a quieter kettle. It is certainly much more quieter than my last kettle! Aside from some of its flaws, I'd still recommend it if you see it for a bargain price! Terrible – I would not recommend this product to anyone looking for a quiet boil kettle. Looks great and easy to use but that's about it. Stylish look EVERYTHING ELSE. We bought this kettle because of the quiet boil technology and it's actually LOUDER than the old one we had and there was nothing else wrong with it when we replaced it.

Excellent – We stayed at an up market apartment during the Christmas Holidays, and this was the kettle supplied in the kitchen. I think we were the first to use, as it did have a 'new' smell, but we just tipped out the first boil and started again. This kettle was so impressive, super quiet and pretty quick to boil, I will definately be looking for one to replace my old kettle at home. Well done !!! Very, very quiet Nothing at all
