Still boiling ....! – Have owned this kettle from new for about 9 years, nicely designed and weighted, good ergonomics, used 8 - 10 times a day with Adelaide water and spring water, hasn’t affected the taste, boils a litre of water quickly, do like the bell after boiling, plastic lid actuator button finally parted company about 6 months ago so now it’s just fill thru… Read more
the spout, use butter knife to push lid actuator when it requires internal clean ...must admit, have had a good run with all my Breville products
Just replaced it because it WORE out. Purchased 2013 – Just replaced it because it WORE out. Purchased 2013 slow leak so replaced it 2018. But during operation was quite. Moderate - Heavy use 10-15 boils a day. Something did fall off it soon after purchase but was working fine. Just worked. Water in, switch on, BOIL and Ding. Thanks. Show details
Dangerous leak after three months – First time I bought this kettle it started leaking onto the element after only a few months. I complained to Breville as apparently not warranty repair according to place of purchase. Breville kindly replaced kettle only the replacement started leaking in the same place. Extremely dangerous. Water was leaking directly onto element. Certainly will not be getting this kettle again! Leaks
Dodgy product, even worse customer service from Breville – The quiet boil kettle was not so quiet but a perfectly good kettle until it suddenly stopped working after 14 months. It was 2 months out of warranty so Breville would not help me. The shop I purchased the kettle from couldn't refund me as they no longer stock Breville. Was very disappointed. It was an expensive kettle and Brevilles complete lack… Read more
of assistance was terrible. They offered to help me buy another Breville kettle at a reduced price! Why on earth would I want another piece of crap??? Have since spoken to so many people who have said "never buy Breville kettles, they don't last". Why didn't I know this?
I've since purchased a Sunbeam and am hoping this one will last the distance. looked good Bad warranty service, loud bell everytime the kettle is replaced on the stand. not so quiet boil.
Variable quality, some good some rust within 2 years – Was quiet initially. After 6 moinths was no longer quiet. At 2 years, an internal part rusted through & fell out. I've had cheap kettles last 10 years. Breville customer service offered a reduced price on a new kettle, but it was the same price as I could get from an online store. Hence, what value exactly was Breville offering me? Nothing. Quiet for first 6 months Became noisy. Part rusted & fell out at 2 years.
Broke just out of warranty – I agree that it is not a quiet kettle! Was expensive and stopped working just after warranty expired (so not much more than a year). I think it was the base, which I did not get wet and the jug was looked after. I emailed Breville and did not get a reply. Broke!
Did not last long enough – Worked Ok, reasonably quiet, appearance was maintained and it did not stain. However, at 13 months old, the backing for the water gauge fell off making it very hard to see the water level. Breville declined to replace it but would offer us a reduced price for a replacement. That price only just matched the best of the prices I could find on the… Read more
Internet, no better. Did what it was supposed to do, boil water quickly and relatively quietly for 13 months A part failed too early and replacement was declined.
Good but not quiet! – It worked well and lasted 4 years. It was ergonomically very good to use unlike newer models on the market which I have found to be awkward to pour. Being a cordless kettle is always a plus. The lift release button that allows you to fill the kettle without manually lifting off the lid. It started out being very quiet but soon became, according to all visitors to my house, the noisiest kettle they had ever heard.
Bad – Don't buy it on the basis of the claimed quiet boil technology because it does not work after a couple of months. Looks OK Was quiet for a couple of months and then got as noisy as any other kettle.
Average – The Breville was much quieter than my old kettle (a Sunbeam), but still not as quiet as the cheap, 10 year old kettle that I had before that. I liked the soft opening lid of the Breville and never had a problem with it. The pouring action of the kettle was good, with steam never streaming over my hand like can happen with some kettles. The kettle… Read more
also held quite a bit of water, which I liked for entertaining, but it did make it quite heavy. My biggest gripe with this kettle is it's lack of longevity - the first part breaking off by the 6 month mark and the whole machine failing completely after 18 months of average use. A few months before it stopped working, it would not turn off by itself all the time, which could be quite dangerous. On the cheaper side for a stainless steel model, and I liked that the lid gently opened so as I could fill it. Only moderately quiet, and the backing of the water level indicator fell off inside the kettle after less than 6 months. Just after 18 months, the circuitry failed.
Good – Its a great kettle. I really notice how quiet it is when i go to other peoples houses and hear how "loud" a normal kettle is!!! Its such a quiet boiling kettle, i hardly remember its on until the bell tings when its done!! It does mark easily, however we knew that would be the case. We have stainless steel wipes on hand which tend to make the upkeep of the finish alot easier.
Terrible – Not happy with the quality and the very poor shelf life. Would not recommend it unless i just happended to end up with a lemon! Great at first (Christmas 09). Definitely the quietest kettle that we ever owned Burnt out and shorted the fuse 4 months later. Also got louder within 3 months. Did not understand this. For a more expensive kettle very very dissapointed. It was a gift so not able to return it
Excellent – I'm really surprised by the other comments about this kettle. I love it. It does what it says on the box. It boils water and it does it quietly. Can't ask for much more! It is a very nice looking kettle and I have no problems with marking that others mention. People often comment on how attractive it is. I have a husband who overfills and shorts… Read more
out kettles and so far this has weathered the storm! i've had it between 18 months and 2 years. Still works, still looks good, still quiet. Very happy. Quiet, good capacity, great looking. Bell is also quiet - often forget that I had it on...

Know better, choose better.
Excellent – Great kettle, worth buying. Instructions say emptying water at night prevents scale build up helping maintain the quiet boil feature. Excellent Kettle! We had a couple of basic criteria, boil water, do it quietly and look half decent on the kitchen bench... this one ticks all the boxes and is a VERY welcome change from our Sunbeam "jet aircraft… Read more
sounding" kettle we used to use. Surprising things - the kettle was well under $100 while on sale over mothers day at DJ's... other surprising thing, Sunbeam STILL sell that crappy model today that we bought years ago and need ear muffs to use! Its stainless steel and gets some finger marks, not an issue, its less marking than every other stainless appliance we own - no cons!
Bad – Although the Moda is noisy it's probably no worse than other brands. The weak point looks like being the switch with a short life span. I'm wondering about the value of buying expensive quiet kettles that don't seem any better than cheaper kettles. The Moda looks good and boiled quietly when first purchased. As the months went by the kettle became… Read more
noisier as it boiled. We've now had the rather noisy kettle for 2 years and the switch is becoming difficult to use. Soon the switch of our kettle will be too difficult to use so we are looking at a replacement 'quiet' kettle. Unfortunately reviews for major brands suggest most other 'quiet' kettles are also noisy.
Excellent – I love the breville Moda quiet boil kettle. It is pretty to be sitting in my kitchen, isnt costly and excellent at the work it is supposed to do. Boils water soo quickly that no other kettle probably would. I would recommend breville ketlle instead of others available in the market. It is not costly and very easy to clean from outside and inside.… Read more
I love the way you can make almost 6 cups of tea with the water boiled in the kettle at once. Simply an excellent product. Excellent product. Very quick in boiling water even if almost full Nothing really
Bad – Wish I had read these reviews first. As it was bought due to the claims of "quiet" it is a real disappointment. Like the soft top opening. Holds good quantity and boils quickly. The "quiet" boil ran out after 3 months. It got louder and louder until it is just like the one we replaced. The jingle is annoying but we are used to it now.
Terrible – I bought this kettle when it first came out about 2 years ago and it has now died. It was never quiet and got increasingly noisy. In the last 6 months we often had to turn it off manually or it would keep boiling for a long time. The water level display became unreadable about 12 months as the plastic backing fell off and could not be fixed. It… Read more
was not a cheap kettle at the time (around $110), so I am pretty disappointed in it. Would not recommend it at all. not much in retrospect, but at the time; the idea of a "quiet kettle", stainless finish & the breville brand which I usually find reliable. Wasn't quiet, marks easily, has died after 18 months
Bad – Was nice and quiet for a few days, then got increasingly noisy. Now Just as unbearably loud as any other electric kettle. Should probably do the vinegar clean again, even though the inside never looks scaled up. However as the silence doesn't last long, it barely seems worth it. I am concerned as to what we are consuming because of the bad taste.… Read more
Needs investigating. Looks reasonable, like the lid, pours well, quiet was nice when it lasted. Not Quiet any more, water has bad plasticy taste if you re-boil it. Therefore you must throw away remaining water every time and re-fill with fresh water. So much for water saving!
Terrible – I loved the look of this kettle and was impressed by how quiet it was when boiling water compared to other stainless steel kettles. HOWEVER, it has a bell to let you know when it has finished boiling and for some reason this bell 'jingles' whenever you move the kettle, bump it, or put it down. It drove me nuts!! -- to the point that I had to… Read more
return the kettle to Myers (thanks to the very helpful lady at Doncaster) and swapped it for a different brand as I couldn't handle the jingling any more. When I rang Breville to see if it was a fault with my kettle I was informed that this was "normal" and when I tested the other Moda Quiet boils at the shops they also jingled -- so much for 'Quiet' technology (the irony didn't escape me!). I also noticed that the Breville Icon Quiet Boil had the same problem with the bell (I didn't notice it with the models that weren't the new Quiet Boil model). If you enjoy a jingle while you work then maybe this kettle's the one for you - I would not recommend it! Looks good. Quiet boil. Like the cushioned lid. The bell inside the kettle 'jingles' with any slight bump or movement. Water gauge is hard to see.
Terrible – We purchased the Moda as it is promoted as a "quiet" kettle'. Due to open plan living and husband's hearing problem, this was essential. Very quiet to start with but after 48 hours it developed an increasing high pitched, painful noise as it began heating. We returned it, hoping it was just a "Friday arvo special", The salesman tried it out and… Read more
replaced it without hesitation, with another Moda as it was so noisy, . We have had it nearly a week and now it too is starting to develop the same horrible noise. It must be a design fault, with something warping with heat or something. It is promoted as a quiet kettle and All other features are great but we can't stand the noise. look and balance of kettle, & easy lift lid, it seemed well finished NOISE like a high pitched whining train whistle that develops after the first 48 -72 hours of use.
Terrible – Do not buy this kettle. There are serious safety concerns when the electrical cut-off switch stops working. It boiled quietly a few times and then it became the noisest kettle I've ever heard. It looks good. It became very noisy. The lid opening mechanism failed. The water tastest tainted. We returned the product to the retail outlet when the electrical cut-off switch failed. All of this happenned in the first month.
Excellent – I made a point of checking the reviews on productreview.com.au after a preliminary glance at recent Choice tests of kettles. This model went toward the top of my list and was I interested to read the comments here before purchase. I've owned and used this kettle regularly now for two months. I have not found the jingling warning bell irritating at… Read more
all as it's not that loud. Also, I have not had any issues about the taste of the boiled water from the kettle. Living on tank water, I believe I am more sensitive than most to tainted water. I agree that the water gauge is difficult to see when you are holding the kettle to fill it because your hand obscures it. But I have gotten used to filling it by the amount inside the kettle rather than by the external gauge. The gauge is only useful if you want to fill it to less than its full capacity, say with two cups. I always fill it to capacity and use a measuring jug if cooking, etc. The quietness of its operation was a big selling point for me as I my home has an open layout with the kitchen close to the loungeroom. I am very impressed with how quiet it is. I also really liked the swivel lid that is activated by a button at the top of the handle that is easily pressed by your thumb when holding the kettle's comfortable handle. On my old kettle, the button was right at the edge of the swivel lid and I often burned myself with steam when I wanted to refill straight after boiling to immediately boil another kettle full. A terrific kettle that I would recommend to anyone. Quiet operation. Cordless. Attractive design. Easy to fill. Water gauge difficult to see.
