Breville Quick Clean BGR420

Great Idea and Concept but......OOPS – I have given a four star rating as it is a great product and works really really well but it has become a real safety hazard when used (If it didn't work so well, I would only give it a single star or less) Purchased online in May 2016 and has been used on average, once every two weeks or so The idea of the removable plates is fantastic and makes it so easy to clean and it works like a dream cooking really well and quite quickly.

Having only a single flat plate for sandwiches, seems crazy and is also a little annoying

BUT BEWARE !!!!!!

Although it hasn't been used "heaps" it has become one of the most dangerous appliances that we've ever purchased and used

As mentioned in other reviews, when in use, the top plate has a habit of becoming unclipped and falling off virtually every time it is in operation

Tonight was the last straw, as when the plate fell off, it was headed straight for our glass cooktop and rather than risk the cooktop smashing or shattering, my wife tried to grab the plate and of course, with the plate being very very hot it burnt her hand (but thankfully not seriously).

I know and fully understand that theoretically, the product is out of warranty but surely, under Australian Consumer Laws there must be something that can be done to solve the problem when it has become such a dangerous item.
