Bought from Breville store via Amazon. The first unit got replaced due to a faulty thermostat. The second is not safe to use on the pressure cook function. The meat was undercooked and on pressure release fat and liquid spewed out violently making a huge mess. The beef was quite lean and the amount of mess was astonishing. Thankfully none was near… Read more
the cooker at the time! The preset cook functions leave us with undercooked meat as well. Cooking white rice according to built in preset makes it gluggy. There are no pressure cook instructions in the manual. I googled 15 minutes for red wine beef?? Unfortunately, I cannot obtain a cash refund from Amazon as per Australian Consumer Law because I had the replacement unit barely over 30 days and Breville won't help.
LOVE it. Saves me so much time – I love this product. Easy to use Easy to clean Has a stainless steel inner bowl that washes easily and can be put in the dishwasher Has every function you could wish for. I love that I can sear food eg onions and spices and meats before cooking. I have never had a fail with this. Rice cooks to perfection and cooks sushi rice so well, no more… Read more
watching stove and having boil overs or burnt rice. Can do a large amount of soup in one go, Meats cook perfectly. I reheat food by placing it in a steamer and sitting it on the wire stand supplied and adding a small amount of water. Press steam and it is ready in no time perfectly steamed and re heated. Does a really tender pot roast.... I just wish it came with a printed recipe book for each category so there were examples to base times etc on.
Impressed !!! – Went for this one for the stainless bowl, no issues so far with retaining food smell. I like that I can buy a replacement seal from Breville if I want one for savoury/ one for sweet. Setting easier to use and to alter. There is a matching recipe book on the Breville website -for those complaining they were missing it. Have cooked delicious… Read more
curries, chickpeas and soup looking forward to trying a pudding. Makes perfect rice! No regrets, love the quality make.
Where’s the recipe book????? – I just received my delivery of Fast Slow Go….so excited….but no recipe book what’s with that? The Fast Slow Pro had one and was so useful That said I am looking forward to using my new pressure cooker, I love that it has a stainless steel bowl because my old one smells like curry and nothing seems to get rid of the smell I wish the cookers came… Read more
with a spare lid seal as it’s also impossible to get rid of the smell from the rubber seal, if you had a spare you could have one for smelly stuff and one for desserts etc
Very good machine – I own the Fast Slow PRO, the Fast Slow GO and the 8L Instant Pot with the air dryer attachment - I've used them all many times and I paid for all of them myself. In all the machines below I often pressure cook, sauté and slow cook and most recipes I use have been tried in all of my machines so I think I can give a useful review. The Fast Slow PRO… Read more
is/was my favourite and is the most intuitive to use and the electronic dial with the automatic settings are SUPER fantastic as I don't need to constantly look up how long whatever I'm cooking needs to be cooked for - BUT... it's a ceramic lined pot will chip eventually - even if you're SUPER careful, then you have to replace it. The auto pressure release is fantastic and very safe. 6L capacity is good for a family of 4 with leftovers so a solid all round performed that has stood the test of time. Easy to clean, Breville good to deal with so it was with sadness that I let this go - based ONLY on not wanting ceramic lined anything anymore.
The Fast Slow GO is now my favourite . With the stainless pot it's going to last for years. The delay start is very useful and it automatically keeps everything warm after cooking is finished. It does wonderful slow cooked porridge overnight (where the instant burn alarm goes off with porridge) and while I think the massive many button screen is the fad of the moment, I think the PRO version was much prettier and super easy to use.
The 8L Instant Pot is simply a big work horse - great for batch cooking but the pressure cooking function somehow cooks out a lot of the flavour so I've ended up doing the cooking then adding herbs after cooking is complete, closing the lid and letting them infuse through the meal - certainly not the best idea and it's been so bland that I've actually started to use this as a pressure cooker less and looking to it more for really big batches of soup. I bought this because of the swappable air fryer lid that goes on the top of the same machine and it's been great to do a massive batch of apple crumble, swap the lid then bake the top - very tasty. Stainless steel pot seems poor quality and discoloured almost from first use. Seals are of poor quality and seem made to deteriorate and become an ongoing cost. (I NEVER had to replace my PRO seal after about 4 years of use so this is a noticeable difference.) Getting pressure out of this appliance either takes a long time is can be very dangerous - after YEARS of using pressure cookers I still got far too close to a very bad burn the first 1-2 times I used this machine.
But as an overall review I like the GO the best.
It's a decent size but still light enough to move regularly (which I do). Stainless steel pot is of good quality steel. Seal will last - that's already well and truly showing up in side by side testing against the Instant Pot. Good basic presets. Intuitive enough to use that manual not needed past first reading before first use. Safe to use, easy and safe to de-pressure. Easy to clean, Breville good to deal with. Just a good all-round performer.
I'd recommend it
Fantastic multi-cooker. I live and die by pressure cooking in it – If you’re tossing up between the Pro and the Go…Go with the Go. It’s only $30 more and I got mine price matched at Good Guys to Appliances Online. Came to $265. I had the Pro and personally wasn’t a fan of: A. The non-stick bowl on the Pro.. It clings to any food smells and you cannot wash a strong curry smell off. Also because it’s black it’s… Read more
easy to accidentally dump oil in to the unit and forget to put the bowl in.
The Go model has a stainless bowl. I found it’s easier to clean and you can be a bit more rough with your scraping in it. You also won’t have any issues with peeling of the non-stick coating 6 months down the track.
B. Knobs. It has very cheap feeling knobs on the front when you spin them. The LCD screen is more visually pleasing in my opinion than the button-heavy interface of the Go, but the Go is actually easier to use. You just press and bam you’re done. No spinning here and spinning there to get the mode you need.
C. Lid. When the lid on the Pro is open you can accidentally spin it to locked mode, meaning when you go to close the lid it locks up and won’t let you close it.
On the Go model, they’ve fixed this issue and it no longer allows you to spin into the lock position while the lid is open.
D. Sous Vide. Pro model doesn’t have the Sous Vide option. Go model has Sous Vide option. Need I say more :)
E. Pressure Release button. On the Pro model, after finishing cooking, if you pressed the “release” button it would only let pressure out for 30 seconds, then snap the pressure release closed again. Therefore not letting all the pressure out.
This was only an issue when I had changed from a programmed natural pressure release at the start.
Ultimately, you can just manually use your human hand and flick the pressure valve to the side all the way. But what’s the fun in that (and safety) when you can push a button and keep your hand away from the hot steam.
F. Lid sealing. I would often have trouble getting the lid to seal on the Pro. Meaning I’d have to open it and lose all my heat I’d built up.
Haven’t had this issue with the Go model.
—————- All in all, the food I can cook in the Go is amazing. The food in the Pro was great as well, but personally if you’re looking at getting a multi cooker and tossing up between the Pro and the Go. Go the Go :)
In it I make soups, curries, risottos, yoghurt, beans (amazing from dry, and so cheap) and sous vide veggies.
A great little recipe book came with the Pro model. Unfortunately the Go didn’t come with one which I’m scratching my head about. How do people new to this start out with it?
I recommend joining the Facebook Group called “Breville Fast Slow Pro” as they share recipes and tips on there. That one is International. The Aussie group is called “Breville/Sage Fast Slow Pro”.
