Far too weak, even when turned to the max! The word "grill" shouldn't have been in the title, as it's a blatant lie. Basically, even the 230 degrees alleged max heat, for both plates, is a joke; let alone it should have been at least 300+ to actually grill something. Whether open or closed, the bloody thing just slow cooks stuff and that's it (:. Also, there is no slope toward the tray. After a few uses, it is still pristinely clean. Very, very disappointed by Breville. I will swap it for something that actually does the job at a blink of an eye. Good luck to the people giving it 5 stars!

What a mistake trusting the reviews for this grill – I have no idea how this grill got so many good reviews. The only thing it is good at is heating sandwiches. I’ve done steaks in the searing mode and it just boils the steak. Not hot enough and it retains all the water on the grill plate too, no slope. I was hoping to do crispy bacon too as I did with my last grill but this one has raised edges on both plates so if you put anything that is under 1cm approx. the top plate will not touch it. It does not distribute heat evenly. It says not to use oil but I have grilled tuna and salmon and both really got stuck to the plate, I even tried later using oil to help out but the fish just fell apart trying to scrape it off. The top plate also has a mechanism that clicks it into place to keep it parallel to the bottom plate when closed and keeps it aligned with the oil pan collector when you open the press so it drips directly into it. The problem is, sometimes you’re in between that position and the loose one so you can’t have the top plate parallel when closed, it’s hard to explain until you experience it. Also, when the top plate is lose, all the oil drips out at the back onto the bench. In short, for a big bulky expensive press best stick to a cheapo light sandwich grill and do your meats on a BBQ

Still the best grill/press I have seen – Have yet to try it with waffles, but otherwise does a good job. Against it is that using a frying pan where that is an option results in less cleaning afterwards. The other limitation I find is that it would be better if it somehow had a timer, and you need to set an alarm for when it should be done since you cannot see inside to see how things are going, and if you get distracted everything will be overdone. However both these criticisms apply to all sandwich presses/grills.
With removeable, and replaceable plates, this is one the most serviceable choices, and with separate temperature settings for top and bottom it is also flexible. We also have a jaffle maker which is probably a bit redundant and perhaps it is better to decide on one or the other.
Great waffle maker and grill – Breville have wonderful products and this one is the bomb! I love the waffle plates because no oiling is necessary as the waffles just come off so easily. The double sided flat grill is so versatile and cooks really well. I especially love the fact that Breville have removed the nasties from their non stick plates. The plates are removable and wash up so easily in the sink. Would definitely purchase this again!

3 in 1 Grill – Such a versatile kitchen appliance, from toasties, pancakes, steaks, to Bbq or anything. Took a little time to get used to this product and now its east. Once you work out your cooking temps and times you will come to love this product. Another breville kitchen appliance that my autistic son will now use on his own with out assistance so thats a bonus. And the fact the hot plates can go in the dishwasher is a added bonus
