It was going good untill we found our bowl scratched. 4 months old and the bowl already scratched. Very upset about this one for a $250 slow cooker. We are very careful. Used only silicone utensils. EDIT: Contact Breville through there support ticket system online. Very good customer service. And sent out a new pot straight away.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $250.

Searing function - great idea that isn't working. I've already returned this appliance once, but the searing function is not operating properly on the new one either. It takes forever to heat up - the flashing rectangle indicates this - but the moment the timer kicks in the heating stops. I've tested this with water that will boil rapidly for a long time before the timer takes over and watched it go off the boil and down to no activity at all. This is a really good appliance to clean and use but I bought it for the searing function. I tried ringing Breville to ask if this is a known fault that has since been rectified but they were pretty useless. Back to Harvey Norman we go.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $199.

Warning: Your first meal may be ruined – We bought this as a replacement to a similar discontinued model (different brand) that cooked everything wonderfully on low. Tried one of our 8 hour rib recipes in this and the ribs were tough and required a steak knife to cut. A proper slow cooker can easily cook meat on low to tender, flake with fork consistency. Not this one. I doubt even at the maximum time it would have cooked them properly.

While a 5 star review exists for this, we could also see questions from people regarding the fact there must be batches of this model that do not heat properly. So while our first meal was ruined, we got a refund and replaced it with a different brand.

So if you can, test this on low first: I'm sure there are sites that will assist in this. If you cannot test it, have a backup plan handy for your first meal and keep your receipt for return/replacement as you are entitled under Australian Consumer Law.

Perfect – So my children bought me the searing slow cooker for Mother’s Day, I absolutely love it, easy to use, Lightweight and easy to clean. I use it the majority of the time as the searing is great and can use as an electric frypan
