Bad quality – Very bad. Easy to get dirty and now it’s keep beeping when plugged in, tried to remove water tank still same issue. Also the way to fill water is awfully difficult even back when it was working fine. Show details
Decent humidifier – I've used the unit for 1 week prior to this review. Not sure how and in what condition the other complaining reviewers here are using the machine, but I use the smart mist humidifier in my carpeted bedroom in a high rise apartment with ambient humidity of 35% or so during winter. Initially I started by using the manual mode with humidity of 45%… Read more
because I was wary of everything being soaked and having wet carpet. By the end of the week I just left it on auto and it never went beyond 60% which is fine by me. I have never had any problem with it giving off excessive humidity for my bedroom to become a sauna. The steam is visible but evaporates quickly.
I do recommend everyone to put it on elevated surface. I put mine on top its own box with a food serving tray underneath the unit. If you put it on sufficiently high surface then the mist will have enough time to evaporate before reaching the floor/carpet.
I never had any problem with water leaking from the unit. You do need to be careful when lifting out the tank to refill because there will be residual water on the base (this was also clearly mentioned in the manual!) - bringing a towel when you're taking out the water tank to refill it would be a good idea.
Noise wise, it does gives off water drip or bubble sound every so often (think water cooler sound), so if you are highly sensitive to any kind of sound then you may find it irritating. For me I am immune to the water sound, I just treat it as ASMR. The sound is way less annoying than my A/C and my air purifier, which are both louder anyway.
The "warm mist" is pretty weak, so if you're hoping it will bring up your room's temperature, you will be disappointed. I can put my hand on the mist nozzle all day and it would not burn me.
Another thing I found disappointing is the aromatherapy function. It's pretty weak. The manual says to put 2-3 drops of essential oil in the tray, but I have to put somewhere around 12 drops of oil for it to give me a hint of smell. I do use high quality and expensive essential oil so it shouldn't be because of the oil. I also could not, for the life of me, find anywhere to buy the replacement aroma pad, so I'll probably just end up using the single aroma pad to try different essential oils.
Moreover it is a bit fiddly to clean the base of unit because it has many crevice, but since I plan to only clean it once a week, it should be acceptable.
Lastly, for people complaining about the display being to bright, either use the night function to completely turn off the display, or just turn the machine away from your bed. You can also turn off only the blue light using the remote. I find the display pretty easy to use and any normal human hand/fingers should be able to operate it. I have also tested it with my toes and the display does recognise my touch. If you have trouble with the display control, then just use the remote, it took me a minute to figure out the control, it's not rocket science. RTFM guys.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the unit. It does a decent job. :)
Good unit – The unit does the job and it appears to be helping. I have only had it a couple of days but I think at this stage it is money well spent. The remote control is a definite plus. Good work Breville. Show details
Noisy – The screen display is not easy to see and the instruction book is not easy to understand. It also has a constant dripping sound and then every so often a loud noise as the water refills. The misting does work but for the cost…look at alternatives Show details
May as well go put my daughter to sleep in a steam room – I'm now on to my second machine (which I'll be returning). My daughter is 5 months old and has had a cold for 10 days. I decided to go out and buy a humidifier to try and help her clear her sinuses. I didn't muck about and went and bought the most expensive Humidifier in the shop. Both machines have not work as described. Baby mode produced 86%… Read more
humidity, when it should have been 55% and auto mode was 97%...both times my daughter was soaking! I'll be returning the 2nd machine and looking for something else. Even the manual mode doesn't work. Set it at 65% and it switches off at 62%. The software is flawed.
You worth it – I was doubtful before buying this, as this was expensive compared to others out in the market, but no regrets now. I love this as it turns off itself if the humidity reaches the preset humidity. I saw few reviews where they have stated, it rises humidity to too high, as per manual in those cases it should be manually set to desired RH (relative… Read more
humidity). This one stops and start based on set RH value. I love the remote as well makes it easy to manage setting. It also has warm and cold mist feature, very helpful. Temperature detection as well. I love this far.
Design over function, excessive humidity – Edit: Post 1 month update. I really dislike it, and now wish I hadn't tried to give this a chance as I'm outside the refund period now. Don't make the same mistake. I bought this to combat the dry air when the heater is on. The design is inherently annoying for sleep. A bright white LED panel, blue tank light and loud beeping noise with every… Read more
setting change is not desirable at night. It would definitely wake-up a baby or partner. There is a night mode which allows the front panel lights to turn off, but can only run in Auto mode. As others have noted, Auto mode runs continuously and humidity is excessive to the point mold concerns stop me using it. This is easier to control in manual mode, but then no option to turn the lights off.
Too foggy at night – I have tested this machine in all different modes and so far it’s great for cool mist although it does rise to about 75% humidity in night mode but as soon as you put it on warm mist the room fogs up and the room is 95% humidity. This has happened a number of times and has worried my husband and I because it looked like the house was on fire. Show details
good if it works as advertised – it mentions that in night mode the machine will turn to auto mode to adjust the humidity level from 40-65% depending on room temp. Guess what, this is far from reality. I had night mode on and after 3 hours the room humidity level becomes 95.. and we can see a mist in the room , just like foggy london. wow. Show details
