This toaster won't , 'Brown you off ' . It will brown your toast though . Our last Breville toaster lasted for six years and worked well enough to encourage us to buy another Breville . After a good two months of use I cannot fault its toasting performance . Bread of all sorts is browned to an extraordinarily even consistency . The relative… Read more

slowness of this appliance is probably why this occurs . Seriously I would much rather wait an extra half a minute for evenly toasted bread than get stripped or burnt offerings at express speed . It does fling the toast up at a sometimes alarming speed but I've yet to have a slice launch itself off the kitchen bench .

There are a few things that might be of consideration though . The crumb tray is impossibly shallow , so much so that anything over the size of a split pea won't come out easily . It's really back to the old days of tipping the toaster upside down and shaking it if you want to clean it properly . This is especially so if you have the odd raisin escape from fruit bread or buns . The 'Select ' dial is on the side of the machine , the other buttons and lift lever are at the end . Clearly the toaster was designed to sit with its back against the wall . If your bench space is limited and you need to sit it at right angles to the bench top the dial is not easily seen , neither is the crumb tray able to be removed without turning the unit .

Small considerations really .

I like it , a lot , it doesn't dry bread out , you can choose different settings for crumpets and other breads and it does make a difference , it's quick enough and is not so big as to make a statement on the kitchen bench . Yes there are cheaper toasters available , few are better though .

Perfect toast – Just started using this and was a bit concerned with some poor reviews but mine works perfectly, used it on frozen rye so far and it's evenly toasted on 3 and rye setting. So much better than my previous Breville.

Great 2 slice toaster – Great 2 slice toaster! Looks beautiful and works really well. Has the option to check to pull up the lever to check the colour of your bread without cancelling the toast. Show details

It appears to be a very good quality Toaster – Overall, I’m impressed. It is not a particularly small toaster and quite heavy, however for our requirements it suits us beautifully. It appears to be strongly built and the controls are quite functional. One of the features that I was looking for was the clear indication of how long before the toast is ready. This toaster has that feature and… Read more

it can be seen from a distance by virtue of a graphical indicator. It also has detailed options for the type of bread being cooked. I don’t really understand why the toaster menu remains illuminated after the toast has been completed and then turns off some 2 or 3 minutes later. Regardless, it suits our needs for a good quality toaster with adequate function.

Okay but could be better – Required a double dunk to toast basic loaf of bread Quite slow to actually toast bread Failed after 3 years (toxic burning smell) - now sits in landfill Show details

Happy with it – It's expensive for a toaster but so far it has met expectations. Nice little dial for different toastable mediums, unsure if it changes anything but it looks pretty neat. Toasts well and evenly. Show details

Shoots Bread like Ballistic Missle! – I really like this toaster since there are not too many 2 slice ones on the market. It feels solid and has some weight about it unlike many other cheaper toasters. I love the dial setting for muffins and crumpets and yes, ocassionly you need to turn them to get 100% coverage but I can live with that. The only downside is that it launches bread like a ballistic missle!

Worst toaster ever! – This would happen to be the worst toaster ever cannot cook bread unless you put it through twice and turn the bread upside down to toast the bottom, crumpets are a joke in it would never recommend anyone buy one $200 lump of junk!! Show details

Keep Away, save your money – I originally bought a Breville toaster some 20 months ago . Up till then the toaster worked and toasted all types of bread . I went for this toaster for 2 reasons, 1) being that my prior Delonghi never made it to 18 months of operation and 2) I liked to 2 warranty. When it died ( tripping the safety switch) and as it was under a 2 year warranty… Read more

I was able to claim under warranty and obtained my replacement in Oct 2021. Well after just 2 months of actually working the replacement ceased to work, the elements would not heat up and it couldn't toast-Basic objective of the toaster. For the originally paid price of $149 this it just not worth it and the quality is extremely poor. I have decided to just go for a cheap replacement because I am not spending this level of dollars on a poor quality product.....

My type of Toaster! – I like to have brown well toasted toasts which I was quite happy to see what this toaster gets for me! Love the overall look of this product that goes really well with my kitchen combination as well. Show details

A letdown for a Breville product – I was given this toaster and a matching kettle as Christmas gifts. I toast various types of bread, from sandwich slices to English muffins and sandwich thins. I find it takes longer than it should to toast adequately and also, I end up flipping the bread around so that it toasts evenly but the bigger problem is that the bread doesn't come up far… Read more

enough to remove without putting your fingers in the toaster. I often have to 'bounce' the little 'elevator' so that it pops up and I can catch it. All show and no substance.

Worked well until it died after 6 months – I was happy to pay a premium for what I thought was a premium product. I was wrong. For all the fancy design, the build quality is terrible - the heating element just stopped working one day. What a waste. Show details

Very Disappointed – Unfortunately, the look of the Toaster is where the happiness ends. It doesn't matter what toast setting you place this product on (rye, multigrain etc...) everything comes out uncooked. The setting must be at the highest (6) and cooked twice for the toast to brown. If you place frozen bread in the toaster and push that setting to cook - all the… Read more

toaster does is soften the bread (which you can do in a microwave). Very disappointed and total waste of money

High pitch continuous noise – nice look, seems a bit slow maybe compared to our previous toaster. Main issue is that it makes a continuous high pitched sound - had to return it the day after

Pointlessly noisy – Bought a two slice model in sea salt white, with the kettle, based primarily on the way they looked. Happy with the kettle, but was instantly annoyed by the high pitched whining noise that upset both my toddler and my dog, and was particularly grating before my morning coffee. It also went on for longer than I'd like as it toasts very slowly! Not… Read more

features you expect from a $150 toaster when my plastic $40 sunbeam was quick and quiet!

I took it back the next day for an exchange, assuming it was a fault, but further testing in store revealed they all had the same issue. The salesperson even contacted their distributor, but said it was the first they heard of it. It's the sort of noise that you could even hear in a busy Harvey Norman store near the hifi display, and she didn't blame me for wanting to swap it!

I ended up getting a refund and bought a cheaper delonghi model, which does the same job a bit quicker, without the unnecessary noise, and has a similar style that matches the charming kettle that seems to do a good job.

Hopeless! – Hopeless! It only toasts part of the bread or it just comes up dry and colourless. Have tried many settings without any success, should never have thrown out the old Sunbeam. Show details

Toaster is a dud, Breville staff unhelpful – Bought the toaster 9-12 months ago. Yes, it's slow and they should warn customers prominently of that (which they do not, and which is the subject of many previous criticisms) but when it works it does deliver an even all over toast. BUT: the electronics failed within a few months, so toast no longer pops up, and instead all lights flash… Read more

failure. I called Breville on the presumption they may care that their product failed. They were very unhelpful so I'll try to get the retailer to fix it instead.

Finally a toaster that toasts – This toaster is fantastic, it may take slightly longer than my previous toasters , but , worth it as it toasts everything perfectly every time , from bread , crumpets to fruit loaf to bagels , it’s simply awesome ,couldn’t fault it so far , it’s a bit pricey so wait for a special to buy it , well worth it !!  Show details

Love this toaster - full functionality – I love this toaster. It was a dial on the front to select the type of bread and how much you want it cooked. There is a "bit more button". If you want to check on how it's going, you can push it up without cancelling the cooking. The thing I like best is the dial lights up to show how long it has to go. I find this really useful when I'm making breakfast & want to ensure I'm on hand to grab the toast when it's fresh and hot.  Show details

Short lifespan! – Only lasted 1 1/2 months before dying. Was very happy with performance up until then. No problem with toast time or colour. Toasted everything from white bread, grain, rye to crumpets without a problem. However, it just didn't last and won't be purchasing Breville again although last Breville toaster lasted for many years.  Show details

This is rubish dont buy one – You have to have it on the hottest setting to get any colour in my vogules. And then it only browns up on one side and only on the top half and starts to burn it. Very diserpointed. I expected it to brown my toast on both sides but it doesn't. Last time I will buy this brand.  Show details

Decent functions – So far so good. It does what it says it does. Toast bread. Good function how you can check your bread, Mid-toasting process and now you can pick different bread settings. At first I was deterred from buying this toaster because of the reviews but I took the leap to update my kitchen. No regrets so far. I will update this review if there are any issues that arise.  Show details

Absolutely hopeless – I purchased the toaster and the jug, so they would be a matching pair on my benchtop. They were going out on sale for $129ea down from $199. I loved the look of them and thought with their original price point and even their sale price, they would have to be amazing right? But how wrong could I be. The jug has an annoying habit of not opening the… Read more

lid everytime I press the button, so I have to press it again harder. I guess I can live with that if I have to because it does everything else that a jug should do, only quite a bit louder than I'd like. But the toaster is just a glorified ornament that happens to match my jug. I have to put it on the crumpet setting to even get my white bread to somewhat impersonate toast. And it takes a torturous long time to do it. I haven't thrown out my faithful Morphy Richards toaster that is still going strong after 6 years but doesn't cook evenly on both sides anymore. But at least it cooks according to its settings. Their jugs however have a bad habit with the plastic see through window going brittle and rusting the metal that adjoins it at the bottom because the water leaks through it. But that's another sad story for another day.

Not worth the money – My Krups toaster of 6 years was starting to take longer than usual to toast so I thought let's upgrade the Krups jug and toaster at the same time. No complaints about the Luxe Breville Jug but seriously the toaster is a not worth the money. years) and the Breville 4 mins 6 seconds - brand new!!! Come on this is not worth $147 AUD!! The toast looked the same, and this is double the time with a brand new toaster?? It's being returned tomorrow along with the jug and thank goodness I kept the Krups and the receipts!

PS. Keep all boxes intact until you're sure you want to keep new appliances. I was almost declined a refund because I had thrown boxes out.

High pitched squealing noise – Every time the toaster is on there is a high pitched squealing and buzzing noise until the toast is done. It is particularly disturbing for my young daughters as it obviously sounds much louder to their ears. I've contacted the store I bought it from and am hoping for a replacement. I also noticed that it doesn't toast as evenly or as fast as my… Read more

Very disapointed – Brought toaster home to use for the first time, the toaster makes a humming/buzzing noise when in use, I had bought it back to the shops to exchange for another one and had the same problem again. the look of the toaster and functions are great, just a little bit bulky though and the noise is annoying.
