Excellent car seat – This is one of the best car seats I have bought. Suits from birth up to 4yrs/18kg. Plenty of room and comfy for your child. the seat comes with sunhood, messy mat and newborn insert. This seat is so easy to install and use and does babies rearward facing until 12kg. After 8yrs its still in perfect condition even the fabric Easy to use. And baby can stay rearward till 12kg The adjuster on the anchor point strap can be a little stiff to loosen

OK – My bub is only 6 months so not sure how long she will be in it. We wanted to spend the extra money on a good car seat but not go too crazy on the cost. I think this car seat is a good in-between option for the cost conscious parent. Very comfy for bub, easy to take in and out of the car if you need to transfer it between cars. Once the seat… Read more

converts to forward facing all the extra padding is taken out. Kind of defeats the purpose of paying the extra money for it. When forward facing the straps underneath the seat sometimes get caught up which means stops you being able to tighten the sashes. You have to put your hand in under to try and fix up the straps first which can get frustrating.

Good – IMPORTANT: Anyone who owns this seat please check the back padding. I rang Britax and they were very helpful and did agree that once the newborn padding has been removed there is little padding if none and also a piece of velcro under the fabric which sticks out(between the slots for the seatbelts). I cut the stitching out for the velcro and… Read more

Britax sent me a piece of foam cut perfectly for the seat for under the material. Now I am very happy with the seat and my little boy is more comfortable, so I would recommend to everyone who has this seat to check it out, remove the velcro and ring for the foam insert, after all when they are young they can't tell us if they are uncomfortable! Good brand, nice looking, washable fabric, use from newborn to toddler After the newborn padding is taken out there is pretty much no padding for the toddlers backs, and also a nasty piece of velcro holding the material to the frame, which gave my little boy a red mark on his back, uncomfortable for long trips in the forward facing recline position.

Excellent – Love this Carseat we brought it nearly four years ago for our Daughter (she traveled great in it when we drove to Darwin from NSW) and it is now getting used for our 8 month old Son. If we had to buy a new carseat we would buy this one again. Big and roomy and high backed, Easy to install lovely and soft. I love that with this seat you can have… Read more

them backward faceing until the are 12kgs(so around 12 months old)it was one of the deciding factors on why we brought it as well as that Safe-n-Sound has a great name for seats. nothing! The problem that a lot of people have compalined about i.e the strapes twisting happens with all carseats so I dont find it a problem.

It's so versatile. I love that it reclines when forward facing it makes long trips more comfy – I use this car seat for work with older children during the week and for my 3 month old on the weekends. I've had other car seats but Safe and Sound has blown them all out of the water. I bought the Royale version for the added support for my newborn. She loves it, the older kids do too. I recommend Safe and Sound Royale to everyone. I also love… Read more

it because it reclines in the forward facing position which is perfect for a tired child and in a long trip. love it! Versatile, comfy, easy to install, reclines Can't buy replacement padding for newborns or strap covers

Excellent – I looked at and researched different brand seats in the last few months of pregnancy. Knowing I was having a tall baby meant I knew I needed something that had extra height. We went for the Royale as it was convertible and higher than most. It had the extra padding, head support, and came with the sun shade. I had to constantly move the seat… Read more

between cars, and found that this was easy to lift in and out, sometimes with sleeping baby still strapped in.

Now with a toddler in the seat, having the handy storage on side of seat means that special toy or toys is always at hand, and the ones in the mat are great for wipes, spare nappy etc for those on the go trips.

I love this seat and am sorry to see toddler coming out of it, (could have used it longer but no 2 is due and needs the seat. Toddler will get another Safe and Sound seat as its a brand you can trust that has done its job well. *Great newborn to toddler seat.

*Well padded for newborn and ample padding for toddler. i left back padding in until toddler was well into second year.

*Sun shade great addition for living in sunny environment, catches sun that tinting doesn't.

*Higher than most seats. Tall near 3yr old toddler still fits in seat comfortable compared to other brand seats.

*Seat reclines easily for long trips. Or when child falls asleep in the car.

*seat protector is a blessing to keep those wet sometimes muddy shoes of the car seat.

* handy storage pockets in seat and messy mat

Excellent – overall we would recomed this seat to anyone. safe & sound make great products although higher priced we have more than got our moneys worth.purchased for our 1st born 5 years ago, he spent alot of time in the car & it seemed very comfortable & safe for him and he slept most of the time so must have been good.when our daughter (now 3yrs) was born… Read more

it was handed onto her & my son went into a safe & sound explorer as he was only 2 & very small, now she has moved up to a bigger seat & my sister is using it for her baby. still in wonderful condition. easy washable cover & great with messymat. we are strong believers that you get what you pay for and we got a great product We liked this car seat as it suited from birth to toddler age. safe, easy to use. great brand. it looked comfortable especially with removeable padded baby insert. easy adjustable straps & insructions to convert to toddler seat. also the different recline postions are great. price seemed expensive, just a little bit of a shock for new time parents. sometimes the straps get a bit twisted but that is a minor problem once you work out how to fix it.

Good – We purchased ours around five years ago now and haven't regretted it. After two children it's still in good condition, has worn well and is still comfortable. The safety rating for this seat is quite good for newborns but did slip a lot further down the list once it was turned around so I think we'll be upgrading our 14 month old son shortly as… Read more

there are better things on the market for this age group. Very plush and comfortable for a newborn, converts to a forward facing car seat. Straps twist around and safety rating is not the best once it's been moved to the forward facing position (although still quite good in the newborn position). Fairly expensive.

Great product! Did its job for three years without trouble – We bought this car seat for our first child from newborn. Our son is now 3 and we have just upgraded to a convertible booster as he is now too tall for the Royal. We have never had an issue with this car seat. It's easy to use and the instructions are very easy to follow. Very reliable Seatbelts twist sometimes

Good – We have used our seat for over 5 years across three children and it still looks great. I trust Safe and Sound as a brand. Despite what I have listed as cons I'd thoroughly recommend the manual version of this seat. Allows rear facing to 12kg. Well padded. Comes with messy mat to go under the seat and also a sun shade (not that we've ever used… Read more

that) Retractor function is a bit of a con. I think I would have been better off buying a manual seat without the retractor function. Takes up a fair bit of room when rear facing which might limit placement options (in many cars it needs to go behind the passenger seat with the seat pushed right forward)

OK – Do not spend the extra money buying a retractor model - buy the MANUEL version. Not only will you save money but you will save hours of frustration!!! Good solid safe seat, can be reversed for newborn - However see below for a major fault. The retractor function DOES NOT WORK properly. I took it back to the shop twice only for them to tell me that… Read more

is works fine. The problem with these things is they work fine without a child in them, then when you get the child in, it doesn't tighten properly. There have been many "frustrating" moments with this seat.

Good – This is the first carseat I bought for my kids 7 years ago and we're still using it. We've used it rearward facing until my kids have outgrown the rearward limits, my 23mo is still rear facing! Once forward facing there are recline positions that are great for helping little ones sleep. The manual adjusting of the shoulder straps is great for… Read more

Excellent – Highly safe without paying top of the range price tag. Looks lovely and has served my 16kg son very well. Just now looking to replace it for the next weight range seats. Very comfortable from capsule-recline position to upright seat position. Seat lining suits baby comfort and easily removed for growing child. Difficult to clean under seat covers - but this would be the case of all child seats

Excellent – Found them great, we had a Safe-n-sound Meridian for our first born but bought 2 safe-n-sound Royale's for our twins as they were slightly cheaper each than the Meridian (although not sure why). Comforting to know that the safe-n-sound company are very big on safety, very comfortable, easy to adjust the strap height as they grow and strap size… Read more

depending on their clothes, wonderful to be able to clip one strap in at a time. The dark blue and charcoal colours don't show the dirt, roomy enough to tuck a water bottle in beside them They seem very expensive compared to some other models (but I wanted our twins to be as safe as possible)

Bad – The seat looks great and is comfy for my babies (No 3 now using it) and a trusted brand but not at all happy with the retractor mechanism and have advised friends and family against buying it. I wish I had not purchased the retractor version. Have purchased other SNS Car Seats and very happy with them. Good safety features with a trusted brand. … Read more

Looks great and was fairly new to the market when I purchased mine new in 2004. Came with extra's like the messy mat with storage pockets which has been very handy. The rectracting device has never worked easily or properly for me and often the seat belts would become out of alignment ie. one belt longer than the other. Had returned it to SNS once only to be sent back saying nothing wrong with it and that we should regularly pull the belts out fully or unhook them at the back to make sure there were no twists. This is an annoying thing to have too do especially as you have to take the seat out to check for twists. The tension on the belts too are not so good so you always have to get your hand behind the seat to pull them onto baby before pushing retractor button. When pushing the retractor button the belts can pull in quickly making a sound that can scare the sleeping baby! Something to be avoided!!!

Good – This is a great carseat and I would definately recommend it to anyone. I think my favourite things about it would be the newborn insert and the fact that it's easy to wash. it has pockets for storage. It is also fairly simple to install. It is usually quite expensive but we managed to get it on sale at Baby on a Budget do it wasn't too bad for us. The straps have a habit of getting twisted which can be very annoying, especially when I'm in a hurry.

Excellent – Overall we are very happy with this baby car seat, we actually bought 2 of them as we have 2 cars and therefore preferred 1 in each rather than swapping them all the time. forward to using them for quite a few years to come. I loved the look of it, sturdy, soft, padded, comfortable and safe. It looked very comfortable and roomy. We also liked the idea of a newborn to toddler seat which we thought to be more economical. The padded newborn insert is also very good, keeps baby snug and comfortable with the padding. The pocket is also handy now that the seat is forward facing for his drink bottle. I think the only thing would be the straps, they are otfen twisted which is frustrating.

Excellent – Our twins have been in this seat since they were tiny babies and are now nearly 4. Excellent – I love this car seat. It is so padded and comfy for the child. It can be used backwards from newborn. It is well rated in the safety department. Good – great easy to use seat, love the little added extras but unless you know you going to have a small kid alittle pricey for the short amount of time you use it. This seat was really great, especially liked the reclining in forward facing position to make sleeping more comfortable for my son on long trips. This seat is suppose to be big enought for toddlers up to about 3 or 4 yrs but my son was out of it by 18 mths.

OK – A good looking and comfy seat with a couple of nice extras. Got very frustrated when the straps would get twisted - it's difficult to get them back straight again - but it's a minor down-side. Easy to install and to convert from rear facing to forward facing Straps get twisted easily in the buckle, bit tricky to get the cover off to wash, my son was out of it at 2 yrs

Good – It is a good carseat and a good choice for middle of the range. I am happy that it can stay rear facing until 12kgs. Still adjusting to no longer having a car capsule that I can take out of the car. The seat belt is in the way for putting baby in so it needs to be loosened every time to get him in and out. The adjuster clip for doing this is quite… Read more

stiff and tricky to operate. Definitely worth trying the retractor and this adjuster clip to make sure you're happy with how it operates. The SNS Royale is a very plush and comfortable car seat. It was the lowest cost retractable of the whole SNS range that I found my 3 month old could sit comfortably in the rear facing position in. The angle seemed wrong and not enough cushioning on the others. The retractor isn't very easy to use while he is in the seat. I find you have to fiddle with it a lot in order to get it to release or retract. I now thing a non-retractor model would have given me more control over the belt.

Good – a great carseat that's quite comfortable for baby and can be used from birth. the attachments to the car itself can be a bit bothersome whilst rear facing but not an issue when facing forwards. a very safe nrma rated car seat i would recommend to anyone. it's quite plush and padded and comfortable for my baby. the angle of the seat is adjustable… Read more

and quite easy to adjust so when my baby started to sit facing forwards, he's still not too upright. the side pockets have been very useful for putting his drinks etc it. i like how each seatbelt can be clicked independently into the centre piece (vs my other carseat where the seatbelt buckles have the be joined together before clicking into the center buckle) the attachment to the back got in the way when trying to lift my baby in and out whilst in the rearward facing position. the retractor belt was also difficult to use- a bit stiff. the sunshade's angle is also a bit strange- it blocked the rear window and didn't provide any shade!

jan 09. It is a very reliable seat . Very easy to use, did not mind paying more for a good well known brand. Nice luxious feel material, comes with mess mat..helps to prevent dents in your car's seats..etc. Great that its convertable and has new born insert.. Shoulder pads, crotch cover included. & sun hood.. Cover is easy to remove..to wash etc Not that it bothers me at all..as it happens raely. (If you put the starps on either side of the seat when not in use, instead of leaving them in the seat, this insures that they are ready to use each time the baby or child go into the car.) simple as that!.
