Fine for guys – I recieved as a gift (as a single guy), to me its a tool! I use it for basic clothes repair, making straps and machine covers etc. for the workshop. I have never had interest in sewing, but i managed learn to use on many materials without issue. Good basic machine. All the comments on tension i have not encountered, perhaps just dont overthink and leave default as i have found this ok. Show details

Would Not Recommend to Friends – Setting the thread tension was a constant exercise in frustration. I spent more time fiddling around with thread tension on this machine than I ever did sewing. Thread constantly slipped, skipped, bunched, and broke. Issues were most problematic on stretchy kits, slippery and gauzy fabrics. Might be OK if you were just making cotton pillow cases.… Read more

What should have been a basic machine without complicated features turned out to be a poor-quality machine that could easily turn beginners off the craft. Sewing machines aren't supposed to be this difficult to use. I would not recommend this machine to friends, and likely won't buy the Brother brand again.

Disappointing – Worst sewing machine ever! Clacky and jumpy. Thread constantly breaks. I spend more time fiddling around with tension and rethreading than I do sewing. Wont buy Brother again. Had an old Singer for 20+ years. Show details

Fine I guess – Does the job, mostly. as long as the job is simple. I wouldn't advise using this machine if you plan on sewing more than a few layers. But its been ok. Show details

This machine is a winner! – I bought my LS2125 new some three years ago. The new house I had bought had no window coverings so heavy drapes and light sunfilter curtains were the order of the day. The machine worked equally well on both types of fabric. I've had little need to use it since, but have never had any issues with it...........Totally satisfied it's a winner.  Show details

Great product! – I've had this machine for years. I use it to do some light sewing, alterations and repairs. I use it maybe twice a month, maybe a bit more? All in all, I've never had any issues with this sewing machine. However, it might not be as suitable for every day heavy use. But for me, it works well, and gets the job done.  Show details

worst – this machine is the most unreliable sewing machine I have ever had.It breaks the cotton constantly, it thunks like an old washing machine and trying to get the tension right is so frustrating,my 'brother' went out the door in a hurry I got so fed up with it.I am now looking at real sewing machines and I have been sewing for more than 40 years so I will pick a better one this time.  Show details

Great, easy to use little machine – I ma not much of a sewer but I have found my little machine to be fantastic. Have had no issues with it what so ever.

Tension! – I cannot get consistent tension in the stitch. It happens more frequently when there a change in the material being sewn. I have adjusted the upper tension, as well as the lower bobbin tension. Sometimes it works well until i have to change the bobbin, then i have to play around with the tensions again.

Good machine – Got this machine through a sale from Lincraft for $129. At first, I thought it was too basic, but was pleasantly surprised with the functionality - it has a decent number of stitches and even twin needle/thread sewing. Comes with various attachments and works pretty well thus far. ( since 2 months). I used it for lots of repairs - even on woolen… Read more

and inner lining. Auto-bobbin winder is nice too.

One thing that you do have to do is aid the motion by rotating the wheel on the right if the machine appears to be having issues with the initial movement. This is a trick I had learned sewing with my mum and isn't too hard.

Overall, appears to be a good machine for advanced beginners. Lightweight, small size, efficient, good value for money considering sale price. The bobbins were plastic.

Awful product – I am reasonably comfortable with a range of sewing machines and this is the worst I have ever used. Extremely difficult to thread, often won't take up thread, thread breaks often even when needle is threaded front to back. Stiff mechanism. What used to be somethingI enjoyed is now an exercise in frustration. Wish I hadn't wasted my money. Cheap

My Brother sewing machine only lasted a little over one year!!! – I am very disappointed that the Brother sewing machine I bought one year ago is no longer working. I bought it for less than $150, and I have just found that repairing it would cost me over $100! The warranty was only for one year. I am deeply disappointed with this product. I did not use the machine frequently and I looked after it well. It simply broke down for no reason. One year warranty is too short

Brother LS-2125 Never Worked had to get refund – Bought my brother LS-2125 and tried for 2 weeks to sew any type of material. The tension was obviously incorrectly set. Went back to retailer and was given a refund. Retailer also tried to sew with machine but couldn't make it work. Either didn't pick up tread or knotted on the bottom. Buyer beware this machine is a dud! Tread tension

Good – I brought this to take away in the caravan and now my 10 year old daughter is learning to sew with it. It's basic but simple to use and for a beginer i would recommend it. I do have a slight problem with the tension but a little perserverence and it comes good. The range of stiches are useful. It sews well on any material. It does beautiful button… Read more

holes. The instructions aren't the best but if you know basic sewing skills then you won't need instructions. Overall, i think if you are looking for something cheap before you advance to a more complicated machine, this is the one for you. Cheap. Simple to use. Beginers Machine. Tension.

disappointed – Very disappointed with this machine. I have had major problems with the tension, which can't be fixed even if you adjust the dials or change the threads. Even at the low price that i bought it at, it was definitely not worth it and i don't recommend it to anyone. Im surprised that this machine is such poor quality, as brother industrial machines… Read more

are great, perhaps they just don't know how to make good domestic machines. cheap, simple and easy to follow design seriously bad tension issues

OK – I bought this as a beginner. I started on a 30-year-old Singer, which actually had more features than this one and was much quieter. Because it has less features, I found it much easier to use. The instructions weren't great, but I worked everything out eventually- with the help of all the diagrams. It is a very basic machine, but I think it's… Read more

fine for a beginner who doesn't want to invest a lot of money into a machine. It is also quite compact, which is great for me. cheapest sewing machine I could find noisy

Bad – It is ok for beginners but you're better off going for a more complicated one and learning to use that, then you don't have to upgrade in 12 months or so. A good machine to learn on. Very basic, once I learnt how to sew I needed a better machine.
