Perfect, Good and a Reliable Sewing machine – I had it more than 5 years. Did sewing for cushions, clothes such as tops, skirts, dresses, tote bags & alterations etc. Good for home use. Love it. For those who have issue I believed you may not have acquired the basic sewing skill to use this basic machine. So easy to thread and do simple trouble shoot. Don’t expect to pay for a Hundai car and wants to drive like a Bentley. It’s good quality, reliable and very good functional basic machine Show details

Basic, simple machine easy to learn – I have had this little machine for 4 years, never had an issue with it and it has always done exactly what I needed. Yes, it is a very basic machine, you get what you pay for, but that is all I wanted. I use this machine for my business and sew with it approx 35 hours a month without issue. Not recommended for ultra fine fabric, I make covers out of a very fine cloth that puckers unless I use a sewing tape. Show details

It's alright – Had this machine for 5 years, honestly pretty shoddy machine. I've had to constantly adjust the tension dial, to the point where now I just keep the tension at 0 and that's the best it can do, but there is still significant puckering with lightweight fabrics. Great for a beginner, very limited options, wouldn't recommend to anyone.  Show details

Great beginner machine – I've been using this machine for a while now, since 2012, it's a very good machine for beginners or for basic sewing needs, it has very basic settings that are really easy to use that don't overwhelm you with 100 settings to navigate. Does most jobs easily, however it struggles with bulky seams, it can stall or veer to the side and needs help… Read more

pushing through with the hand wheel. But for an entry level into sewing it's a great start until you out grow it. Great for sewing clothes, small crafts, home crafts and kids stuff.

If it's threaded correctly and you make sure your neddle is sharp and in the correct position for starting and finishing up you'll have no problems with it. Keep the user manual handy if you're having issues. $5 to $6 for replacement bulbs (this model uses a screw in bulb), can use generic feet, bobbins are easy to find and cheap and no issues with thread compatibility between brands. I hope all Brother machines are as trouble free as this one.

Wouldn't recommend it for quilting but it CAN be done on a very basic level, with the right foot attachment and with lots of patience.

Pros-

Cheap, easy to use, 14 basic stitches, accessories are cheap and easy to get, easy to clean and maintain. Cute pink design. Does most jobs.

Cons-

Struggles with thick seams and fabric. Limited stitches, noisy and not as smooth to run. Doesn't come with a cover. Wobbles at high speeds.

Terrible – Clunky noisy dreadful. Stitches jammed. So utterly disappointed that spotlight recommended this to me. It's broken down after four projects and I have lost the receipt.

Good basic machine, does what I need – I've had this sewing machine for close to 5 years now and it's still working strong! It's a great basic machine, has various zig-zag and straight stitches, stitches a buttonhole and has the ability to do a blind hem - all I need. I sew various items, from pillows, toys, children clothes, casual women's clothes to high-end couture dresses, and this… Read more

machine is able to do it all. I do try to take good care of my machine though, and try to regularly (not as often as I should!) oil and clean the dust out. Overall, I am very happy with this machine!

Great sewing machine – I got this sewing machine for my birthday after asking for one for agesss! Its super simple for the type of work I like to do, sewing felt into plushies for example. I do not know the cost but I recommend this machine for beginners as it's heaps easy to use and isn't confusing. Simple, easy

Warning to others – Bought this from Spotlight 12 months ago. In that time , the whole Bobbin housing has come loose 3 times. Opened the door and it entirely fell out! Bobbin filling spool has snapped, and have replaced globe twice. Would be ok for a junior to learn basic sewing. Will be returning to Singer, once again. Lightweight Put together cheaply.

Shoddy, shabby cheapskate machine – I had to take this machine back to spotlight two weeks after I bought it. Various reasons, including that it wouldn't thread and wouldn't sew. Spoke to a different saleswoman upon it's return than the one that I bought it from. Was completely gobsmacked when she advised me that she wouldn't advise anyone to buy this machine. Clearly cheap… Read more
