Danger do not buy – Not fit for purpose. When you are at your most worried with a sick child trying to make a decision whether to head for A&E this thing perpetually malfunctions. I bought 2 in emergency situations they have done nothing but make me sick with frustration and anxiety. Show details

Great when it works! – I love how this product functions, and it's really easy to use, HOWEVER it stops working properly very quickly. I've invested in 3 over the last few years (to cover a couple of kids) so I can confidently say this thermometer has a very short life span. Whilst it's function is fantastic, it's very expensive for something that needs to be replaced quickly.

Just crapped itself – When we first purchased the Brother Max 3 in 1 Thermometer it was working great. However we have gone to check our sons temp and it reads low even though the batteries are brand new and read full on the lcd screen. I thought i was doing something wrong so my husband tried and it was the same for him as well. More batteries and it is still the same. Really dissapointed.

unreliable – We have had the same problem as many of the other reviewers. It always reads the same temp - regardless of time or person. I agree that it takes too long to read the temp - I've found it almost impossible to get a forehead reading because bub won't stay still for long enough. It is also problematic that it beeps when taking a temperature - way to disturb a baby!!! and now, less than 12 months old, it has stopped working altogether :(((

Absolutely terrible, esp considering the price. Do not buy – I bought this thermometer for my daughter as I thought it would be so much easier to get an accurate reading than using a standard under tongue/under arm thermometer that can take ages to get a reading while keeping a small child sitting still. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed, especially considering the price. My daughter got sent home from… Read more

nursery with a temperature of 39.2 but this thermometer took a reading of 36.8 and then I used the standard thermometer which read 39.2. In fact it always seems to read 36.8. I have tried to contact Brother Max three times through their website to make a complaint and get my money back but have not had a response. I don't know what else to do to get them to take notice.

Useless – I invested in this product for the safety of my newborn and have been horribly disappointed. The room temperature function always measures incorrectly. It constantly measures temperatures far hotter than they actually are. My daughter has had two fevers since she was born. She is now 16 months. Both times this thermometer measured 36.9 degrees at… Read more

the height of her temperature, when clearly she was much hotter. A standard thermometer I keep as a back up measured nearly a degree hotter and that was after she had been given panadol and had cooled down significantly. This product should be recalled. It is dangerous and defective.

Rubbish, Always Says 36-37 – My son had a very high temp and this thermometer said he was 36.8. He was so hot he was shaking I took an ice cube temp and it said 36.8 in fact everyone in our house was 36.8 so a rubbish machine. Very panicked in the middle of the night seeing if your child needs medical attention or not and not knowing their correct temp is hard. Costs a lot of money and not to work.

Dangerous to rely on – This thermometer gave consistent readings of between 35-36 degrees when my daughter had a high temperature. Do buy this expensive waste of money.

I can't trust this – This thermometer is untrustworthy and gives readings which are inaccurate. You can take your temperature three times in a row and have three completely different readings. Room temperature always suggests the room is hotter than it is.

Inaccurate – I bought this when my baby was born. It's useless. Says her temperature is 35 degrees which is obviously incorrect. It gets the room temp wrong which makes it a nightmare to work out what attire to put baby in for bed. More recently its half conked out - half the time the display shuts off or shows a weird error message. Was an expensive… Read more

thermometer that serves no purpose. I bought a replacement on eBay in a different brand for $29 and its more accurate and much much cheaper. Nothing Not accurate at all

Bad – I was initially blown away by this product, as it takes ear, forehead and room temperatures. This is one of the very few products in the market that combines all these three functions. I was sorely disappointed when it started to get faulty after hanging on the wall for about 2 months. Replacement was a nuisance as the problem did not manifest… Read more

itself at the shop & the shop refused to replace the thermometer. Had to go back & forth two times before they replaced it. After about a month, my baby was sick and felt very hot but the new thermometer did not detect a fever. A friend brought another thermometer to test my baby and she had a reading of 40 degrees! I suspect the thermometer is unable to read properly because babies have small ear holes as when we tested the thermometer on adults, it gives a more accurate reading. - design is aesthetically pleasing

- three-in-one thermometer very useful

- comes with a handy travel container

- readings adjusts itself to read correctly when held wrong side up - inaccurate reading for babies who have small ear holes

- quality questionable

Bad – This product looks great and promises to be worth the cost. As a room themometer it functions great - it hangs on the wall above the light switch, is easy to read, and the screen lights up. I use it every day. I think it is even better than other products on the market, since it hangs on the wall so neatly, up out of the reach of little hands.… Read more

However, as a themometer for taking my baby's temperature, I don't trust it. Both in the ear and on the forehead, it seems to give a too-low reading, compared to the readings I get with a standard themometer. So I don't use it.

I don't entirely regret buying this product, because it does get daily use, but I certainly don't think it does what it is meant to. I would not recommend it for someone looking for a themometer for their baby. - Looks great

- Hangs on the wall

- Great room themometer - Not reliable for taking my baby's temperature

Inaccurate, returned to store the next day – The build seemed a little cheap for a product that cost us over $100 (Babycity, NZ). It didn't have the feel of a quality item. Despite that my main concern was the complete lack of consistency between readings. You could take three readings 10 seconds apart on the same spot and never get the same result. Sometimes the readings were as much as a… Read more

BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT – This thermometer sounds great in theory - room, forhead and ear temp. I also liked that you dont have to replace the ear covers, as is the case with several other thermometers on the market. Simply wipe clean and thats it. However, I do not believe it is accurate at all and would strongly discourage anyone relying on this when taking their babies… Read more

temperature. It constantly provides a reading of about 35 degrees for my baby, which is clearly too cold. On one occasion he felt very warm so I took his temperature, and as usual it said he was on the cool side. After a night of him being miserable, I took him to my GP who took his temperature and he had a fever, and an ear infection. I also find that in hot weather, the display is useless and returned it to the shop for a replacement, which also does the same thing. For the price, you cannot rely on this product and I am not even sure how they get away with selling it when it is so unreliable. Don't have to replace ear covers, good room thermometer, great stand Extremely unreliable and inaccurate, display often does not work properly
