Super narrow portacot – We got this portacot and was hugely let down. If your baby is a wriggle worm, this won’t work. Our son constantly got stuck when he moved around and would then wake up screaming from being stuck sideways. This portacot is super narrow. Our baby is 9 months old and stretches out and there wasn’t a lot of head room left at the top, so no idea how… Read more

they supposedly last until they are 2 in it? We are keeping it as we have another baby on the way and its ease of setup is actually pretty amazing. I think this is probably best suited to babies up to 8 months.

It does the job – Folds and unfolds in seconds as promised which is fantastic, mattress is good quality. I bought this model due to its safety rating. However for someone who is 5ft and doesn’t have overly long arms the lower side was not low enough. An unzippable side or bassinet attachment would have resolved the issue. I almost took it back for a refund. Show details

10/10 – Perfect only negative matching sheet waste of money buy bubba blue brand instead of you live in Australia from baby bunting! But make sure you buy the ‘cradle size’ specifically (not cot or bassinet size). They do both waterproof sheets and fitted sheets. Problem solved! Show reply

Almost perfect – As others have said, the Stardust is super quick and easy to open and close. The mattress is thick, firm and supportive. It’s very sturdy and I like that it is narrow. It’s also safe for long term use unlike other portacots. I easily found sheets for it, co sleeper/cradle sheets fit perfectly and so do cradle mattress protectors. I just cut holes… Read more

to fit the little straps through. The negatives: no bassinet like overseas models, not sure why but this was very annoying when my baby was young.

The additional feet make it really hard to fit the cot back in the bag. It seems like they added the feet for the Australian market and did not make the bag any bigger, mine already has holes in it from the feet which is disappointing given the price.

The little tabs are very hard to fit through the holes to secure the mattress on.

All in all I’m pretty happy with the cot and have taken it away on holidays many times.

Close to perfect - The best one we saw – We bought his travel cot a few weeks ago to coincide with a trip away with our baby. It is a really good cot which is close to perfect. As with everything there are compromises/choices made in the design phase. That is inevitable and here is no different with a few small gotchas that you aren't necessarily aware about/thinking about in the shop… Read more ·  1

looking at the travel cot options. Probably not a deal breaker but best to go in eyes wide open as they say.

First up the pros - most of these things you will probably know from other reviews: - Well built - Very fast/easy to set up - pop and go in a few seconds - Very fast/easy to collapse - pop and collapse in a few seconds - though getting it into the carry bag take a minute. - Good size to allow kids to grow for a few years use - big enough for a travel cot. - Because it is so easy and fast to put up and down it makes it amenable to taking it to all sorts of places - like the backyard, park or beach for a safe area to rest your baby. Or over to visit a friends house. - Good quality durable materials - Large enough to put 2 infants/little 'uns in it depending on how large and mobile they are - Feels strong enough without getting too heavy. - Safe to use - sturdy, no accidental collapsing or tip overs. - Plenty of clips and straps in the right spots to keep everything in place - Mattress can stay in place when folded/folding, meaning less bits that can go missing between uses.

Neither here nor there: - Isn't the cheapest option available but given the good quality and ease to use so I'd say it's good value and worth it overall given the versatility.

However it isn't perfect: - It is an unusual size - not quite bassinette, not quite cot. On face value this is a great size.... BUT...... because it is an unusual size, in turn this makes finding sheets that fit it properly quite difficult. To the point that it is effectively a closed shop of 'buy em from Bugaboo' only type thing. The time when you will likely discover this fact is after you have driven all the way home or to your trips destination (in my case an hour away from the closest baby stuff shop) ready to set it up to use. And then when you realise your existing sheets don't fit and look for some in shops nearby, realize that you can only get that size from bugaboo which, how to put this.... aren't exactly priced in an enticing manner. See tip below for a workaround to this.

- It's folded size is 600 x 850 x 120mm. It doesn't dawn on you in the shop when comparing ease of use (which this thing leaves the competition for dead), but you may struggle to fit this into the boot of your car (along with all the other baby stuff and luggage for that trip away). Best to check this before purchasing otherwise you'll need to get creative. It only just fit into the boot of our large sedan. It does still fit with pram with bassinette but I feel in some SUVs or hatches it will be a case of fold the back seat down or get a bigger car, a trailer or smaller, harder to use travel cot.

- In overseas markets they include a clip in bed type thing that is mounted higher up, kind-of-like a bassinette bed for babies. It would be handy to have that here as it is better for your back when lifting a baby in and out. No idea why it hasn't been included in Australia given that people aren't especially different around the world in height, back strength or use case.

Cost effective workaround for sheet availability. Spotlight weirdly happens to carry a waterproof mattress protecting sheet exactly in this mattress size. I say weirdly because they don't carry the sheets - either fitted or regular styles. The have larger cot sized sheets, smaller bassinette sized sheets but not this in-between size. And yet they do have the mattress protector.... We ended up compromising on sheets by using a normal shower towel that is sized close enough over the waterproof liner from spotlight and a wrap/blanket as a top sheet.

Overall Highly recommended. Very easy to use - just make sure it fits in your car otherwise you won't be taking it many places. Also buy some sheets from bugaboo when you buy one or be ok with assembling your own sheeting solution with what you have.

No Bassinet feature for the Australian market – There is no bassinet attachment for the bugaboo stardust in Australia We have a very young child and the bassinet feature was a must for these months. When our child is older it seems that it would be a good bassinet but for now we can't use it Show details

Exactly how convenient a portacot should be! – The Bugaboo Stardust ticks a lot of boxes, it would be difficult to beat the convenience this portacot offers. The unfolding is so quick and simple, once you try it the first time you really are able to unfold it in a second or two each time after that. Now I've had my fair share of things that unfold easily (pop up tent etc) but the packing up… Read more ·  1

part is anything but quick and easy so I was a little dubious that the convenience might stop at the unpacking part. To my surprise the stardust was just as easy and quick to pack away than it is to unfold, better yet you don't even need to bend down to pack it up, you can do it standing.

We took the Stardust camping and it really was a game changer for our setup. Previously we would place our old portacot on top of the couch in our caravan as it had a larger footprint we couldn't leave it in the passageway. It would stay there the whole trip because it was far too inconvenient to pack up after each time our young one slept. But the Stardust takes up a smaller footprint which meant we could set it up in the passageway while still maintaining enough room to walk around. Furthermore because it's so quick and easy we did just pack it up every time our bub wasn't sleeping which provided more room to move about.

We took the stardust on another trip, this time in a hotel. All though it's still quite a large profile when folded up in the carry bag it's also quite a practical size, it's free standing in the bag and is quite narrow so fits into the car very well. Again the convenience was so handy to setup the portacot straight away after a long drive, no tedious assembly like our previous one. We have no complaints about the comfort or safety. The mattress feels like great quality, the frame is very sturdy, at 13 months our child is able to standup in the portacot and grab the edge but this didn't stress the frame and showed no sign of tipping

It's worth adding that this portacot is just a portacot/play pen, there are other portacots on the market that are also kitted out to be a raised bassinet and change table. Personally from a safety and comfort prospective I would put newborns in this however this may not be practical as you'll have to fully stretch your arms out to put the newborn down unlike bassinets where you can cradle babies easily from chest to mattress. Overall I highly recommend this portacot, if anything I wish we had it sooner.

Pros Seriously fast and easy to setup and pack away Freestanding when folded up Folds up to a thin profile, fits under a bed etc Folds up with mattress left in portacot Large top opening to place baby in Sturdy frame, mattress is great quality

Cons No bassinet option means it may not be ideal for newborns The fitted sheet is an extra and a unique size On the pricer side for a portacot

Best and easiest portacot I’ve ever used – If you need a portacot, this is the portacot for you! It is seriously the easiest one I’ve ever used. When they say 1 second open, they aren’t lying! It is literally the easiest thing I’ve ever used in my life. The mattress is built in and it’s decent unlike most other brands that are just a thin board on the bottom. Easy to fold up also.… Read more ·  1

It’s compact and will lay flat or against the wall and not take up much room at all. Super lightweight, like all bugaboo products. My kids stood on the side of it and it didn’t tip over, surprisingly.

I really like the mesh, breathable sides. I’d love it even more if the baby/child couldn’t see through it!

I love the grey melange fabric, matches my donkey!

Absolutely amazing, convenient and there isn’t enough I could say about how great it is.

100% would recommend.

Wow!! Lightweight and so easy to set up! – I wasn't sure what to expect with this portacot as I thought the one I had was wonderful. I was pleasantly surprised! Everything about this portacot is easy. It looks great, is quite light and not too bulky. When first unpacking it the cot slides out of the bag easily, next I unclipped the buttons holding it together and then it simply unfolded… Read more ·  1

and clicked into place. The mattress is connected to the base which I found to be a great feature. I wasn't sure whether the cover already on the mattress was a sheet so I opted to put the sheet over the top of it and it fit really nicely and was easy to put on. The safety legs simply clicked into place. The cot looks really nice, and the sides are high so my son can't climb out of this one yet. It was a little stretch to put him in the cot while asleep but I managed (I'm not particularly tall though - 5'4). The cot isn't big length wise so I think the 2yr old age limit is accurate. Its quite sturdy and feels well constructed. The pack up was just as easy and I was beyond thrilled how easily it fit back into the bag! You just click on the buttons on the side and it folds up nicely. My son slept through the night without issue so it must be comfy! I would highly recommended this portacot.

So simple to setup and use, easily transportable – The design for this portacot is really well thought out, and there are really no flaws in the design that I can pinpoint at all. It's fairly lightweight so it's easy to transport and to move into/out of cars, although the dimensions whilst folded up is probably still too big for an averaged sized car boot, but should fit in most SUVs. The… Read more ·  1

one-second setup is so handy because you literally pull open the sides and it clicks into place. The most time-consuming part was putting on each individual foot (clicks into place but requires a bit of strength), but once that's done, it's plain sailing. One thing I appreciated was that it is just as simple to fold up and pack away into its carry bag, which sometimes with folded equipment is not always the case. Even thought it's so lightweight and the parts a foldable, this does not seem to affect the quality and strength. Both kids were excited and attempted to climb in/out at the same time and even though they were bracing themselves on the edges, nothing was broken or damaged. It's also well-balanced for safety because one kid attempted to escaping by tipping and shaking it whilst in it, but it barely budged. The only time that it did tip over was when it was empty and they lifted it from the bottom and tipped it up (once again demonstrating the light weight). Their only complaint was that they said that the bedding (mattress and back board) was hard, but due to the folding design the mattress was probably as thick as it possibly could be. The 1.5 year old didn't sleep any better or worse than he does normally so I have no room for complaints. The covers looked simple to remove and although I did not need to clean anything yet, when the inevitable happens, it looks like it will be fairly straight forward.

So much better than using the other top cot – 1st off, packed well in a sturdy box. Comes out easily. No assembly required. Actually is packed in it's carry bag, which seems quite sturdy. Slides out of the bag with no trouble. Note this cot can go into the bag, without removing and repositioning the mattress (which is what we have to do with another top cot). Unfolds so easily. Just pull the… Read more ·  1

sides out and one more push and you are done. The other cot we used involved flipping, moving joints into place, flipping again, etc. Feels well built, appearance is nice and modern (we went for the grey). Another great feature is the legs are vertical. With the other cot, the legs were angled and we tended to trip on them. It also makes it much easier to put our todler in. No leaning and stretching. The mattress feels a touch thicker and firmer and is actually attached through velcro and loops, to the cot. The fitted sheet looks and feels good. Our little one had no trouble falling asleep. Folding this cot to move to another room or go on a trip is so easy. A squeeze, a fold and a lift with a foot and you are done! No flipping, pulling legs out of joints, no removing mattresses and repacking the travel bag. We love the design and would definitely recommend this to everyone. (Note we got to keep the trial regardless of comments and we had no problems)
