A great zoom that matches more expensive cameras – Although it says these cameras are no longer available you can still find them on line. They are very compact and durable. They take good quality photos and has a zoom that will match more expensive cameras, 18 x optical zoom. It provides 20.2 megapixels allowing for good low light shots. It has Wifi connection and good battery life. Take care of the lens cover as the automatic system can be easily damaged.

Great For What I Needed – I am not into photography as seriously as a lot of people, so I was after a mid-range point & shoot camera. I had read the magazine reviews for the SX610HS and they were very favourable. Naturally I wasn't expecting anything top line, but I am very happy with it. Once you work out the settings you need, it gives very good results but if you like, just leave it on auto and it will work out the settings for you and give very good photos as well.

What surprised me, as I didn't buy the camera for this, was the quality of video which it produces.

I usually use a tripod as I have a hand tremor, but the camera allows for this as well if I use it hand-held.

It is used mainly for fishing trips or bushwalking and nature/landscape photos as well as family gatherings & parties etc., so it has had a good workout since January with no problems at all.

All up, I consider this a top little camera for the price and it would be suitable for anyone who is not yet right into digital photography but just wants something that's quick to use and gives excellent results.

I see this model isn't made anymore, so if you see one still on a shop shelf, snap it up. You won't be disappointed.

Crap Canon Crap Camera Crap Customer Service – I bought Canon Powershot SX610 HS camera around 7 weeks ago from AUSPOST and after 4th week, lens cover was not closing properly. So Initially I went to AusPost and they said to contact directly Canon. WHAT A SHAME SERVICE? DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM AUSTRALIA POST. BELIEVE ME- THEY DO NOT LIKE RETURNS OR WARRANTY CLAIMS. Finally, based on conversation with Canon customer team and Post, Australia Post agreed to sent on my behalf. 4 days later, I got email from that CANON that camera has issue due to some external factor. How come- There is not a single scratch of nearly new camera and how come they assessed it. YOU DUM CANON TECHNICIANS. They quoted me $178.20 with return shipping cost to fix it. I SPENT $200 for camera which came with 2 YEARS MANUFACTURER WARRANTY.

I WILL SOON NOTIFY AUSTRALIAN MEDIA.

What a terrible product. They are selling cameras like selling in JAPAN. This is Australia and as per Australian consumer Law, Canon has to fix or replace the product.

DONT BUY CANON.
