locked the vehicle and kept it secure on return, so I raised the issue with Customer Service then Dispute Resolution, it was a lot of back and forth with no resolve. Then they just started debiting the amount automatically from my bank account, without prior notice. Made to pay an extra $300 for something I didn't damage, wouldn't recommend this service.

to). The review policy for CarNextDoor says that reviews cannot be left for cancelled bookings, but logged in to find the owner has somehow been able to post a review, and repeat the accusations publicly. Nice.

Setting aside whatever is wrong with the owner's car (no start issues can be intermittent, and it's even possible it could be user error), it's hugely concerning that a peer to peer model company like Car Next Door seems to be so lax on issues concerning member conduct and the integrity of reviews. Probably just one bad apple, but services like these rely on trust and safety to work.

Expressed my concerns and Car Next Door promised to get back to me within 48 hours. It's been almost two weeks and they've ignored this, despite follow up emails.

appointments and it was the only option I had with Uber being unavailable. I had hired the car for around a month, and had an accident the day before it was due back. While the steering issues were minor (it drove well enough for the month I had it, until the accident the day before it was due to be returned) carnextdoor said I should have returned the car straight away as soon as I noticed the steering issues. I hope Uber carshare are doing their Die Diligence and ensuring that ALL renters are informed to not take any vehicle that feels off (mechanical or otherwise) for hire.

Other than that though it was a good service and I hope Uber are being responsible and reasonable in their management practices. We have Uber in the area now and I believe they have now started paying drivers minimum wage+super, so all steps in the right direction!

stolen period and I needed to request refunds. They also charged me again for the lock box but the car was stolen. I even received follow up emails about returning the lock box. I made a complaint to the AFCA as my car was stolen in January and didn’t have a response in May. A week later they come back with a low ball offer, lower than all the cars with the same specs in my state. I’ve lost the use of this car and the income this car would provide during these months.

time with enquiries of damage my car had done in drive offs, including a runner at a petrol station. When it was CND many rebookings but since uber take over rebooking are rare. Damage done to engine to the tune or $8000: (mechanic computer assessment showed motor was thrashed) but Uber Carshare rejected claim as could have been done by anyone (diagnosis report gave good indication of timeline). Eventually the car was stolen, the GPS that was very well hidden was found and removed (still showing up as being on the Tulla fwy) secondary GPS battery was flat (didn't know there was a 2nd GPS would have replaced batteries if I knew) so the finally result was 'unrecovered' vehicle insurance payout that was half the value of the car, only provide market value coverage.

Don't waste your time with Customer Service because they totally ignore you and continue to make up charges and debit your bank account. paid to rent the vehicle in the first place. There is no way that anyone would agree to pay $663.95 to rent a bomby old 2004 Honda Jazz that had serious issues with the engine - $148.44 was more than a fair price for this dodgy vehicle! I disputed this charge with them and they didn’t want to know about it. Further to this, even after the amount was taken from my bank account, Uber Carshare has referred the amount onto a debt collection agency and despite having evidence from my financial institution to say that they’ve taken the money from my bank account, they are still harassing me and insisting that I never paid them! Customer service is terrible and nobody at Uber Carshare are doing anything to rectify this. I will be referring this onto the ombudsman and consumer affairs. I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this with Uber Carshare to no avail. Uber Carshare are dodgy and should be avoided at all costs. Use a reputable car hire company rather than these crooks!

Platform on a downhill since taken by Uber. due to an error in the platform the owner of the car was not aware of the booking, and he was using the car for those days. This situation causes me and my wife different issues in our trip then:

- Time spends (2 hours), and stress caused on the process of finding new cars that fits the requirements we needed for our trips like the characteristics of the original booking.

- As we could not find a single car that fits our requirements, we needed to book two different cars: [Name Removed] 2012 Mazda 2 Neo (Trip # 1623972) from Monday 26 December 12:00 to Thursday 29 December 23:00 and [Name Removed] 2018 Toyota Yaris Ascent (Trip # 1623980) from Friday 30 December 08:00 to Tuesday, 3 January 16:00. With these changes as you can see, we lost around 13 hours with and available car in our trip.

- We lost time in the process of picking up and returning a second car (2 hours).

- We spend more money in the picking up and returning of both cars as the locations were farther away from our staying location on Brisbane compared with the location of the original car that we picked up.

The $40 AUD given as a compensation hardly covers all the time we lost.

Apart of all the issues mentioned before, we request that Uber Carshare compensate us for all the quantifiable additional cost we had due to this inconvenience:

- Additional Hire and Driving costs of the two new bookings compared with the original one (assuming that the Km would have been the same for the original booking) = $173.44 AUD.

ORIGINAL TRIP = $358.14 +0.33$/Km*729Km = $598.71

REAL TRIP Trip # 1623972 $160.99 + 0.53$/Km*355Km = $349.14 Trip # 1623980 $299.59 + 0.33$/Km*374Km = $423.01 TOTAL REAL TRIP COSTS = $772.15

ADDITIONAL UBER CARSHARE COSTS = $173.44

- Additional cost for transport taken from staying location in Brisbane to pickup point for a second car on December 30th 2022 = $10.26 AUD.

- Additional cost for transport taken from return point to staying location in Brisbane for a second car on January 3rd 2023= $14.10 AUD.

- Additional cost for washing a second car = $20.50 AUD.

Claim summary

Additional Uber Carshare costs = $173.44 Additional car pickup Didi trip costs = $10.26 Additional car return Didi trip costs = $14.10 Additional car washing costs = $20.50 TOTAL CLAIM = $218.30

When make the claim to the Uber Carshare Support (ticket #2549693), agent [Name Removed] on January 12th of 2023 made a lousy predefined corporate answer that did not solve the issue at all.

If bookings are canceled due to the fault of the owners, as a platform where the owners and the borrowers share the information for the booking, you should be able to charge the owner all the extra expenses that the borrower have due to his mistake. The borrower (me) is not dealing directly to the owner, but thought your platform, so you are the ones who are entitled to solve the problem for person affected (me as a borrower).

I will look out for the necessary means to elevate this claim to the right people in order to find a real solution for the issue and get a real compensation for the money and time I have lost on for this issue.

This kinds of situations and answers are the ones that give bad reputation and bad reviews for the companies, and pushed users to find other companies that can provide a better service.

As a summary, since Uber take over Car Next Door the platform in on a downhill.

Little scratch $1500 – We rent a car from that app and application says you have take a photo before and after. We took it but some photos was on the shadow. Deceptive pricing – The car hiring has been sufficient, but the pricing is extreme. The vehicle advertisement may be $39.00 and then depending on where you use the car (distance + time) the next day, $174 can be debited from your personal account. I'm deleting the app. Id rather catch public transport. Clever idea for a company. I'll think I'll share my neighbours car if its available next time.
