Negative Negative Negative – The staff are rude, the bathrooms are disgusting, the classes keep changing and sometimes the instructor will just not show up! Very unreliable.. not to mention how slow everything goes around there. No water or proteins for weeks on end, even the bosses dress sloppy! Meant to have moved back in what, July? Still no idea when or if they are even… Read more
moving! If they have an air con it doesnt work at all and the fans look like they will crumble if you touch them! Cardio equipment is always a mess and the weights are never put back where you are able to use them.
Great change in service – Since changing ownership early in 2012 I have noticed a complete overhaul of the staffing roster. This has led to superior service and a cleaner environment. I believe the staff are focused on creating an experience for the member not seen anywhere else. CBD is now big enough to trust but small enough to care. Great service and classes
Cheap Classes – I bought one of their scoopons for the gym which was for 10 gym passes for $29. I've just finished using them, and bought their 40 class pass deal which is $298, so comes to $7.45 a class - the cheapest around that I could find in the CBD. There is no expiry on these class passes too which is great if I can't make it to the gym consistently, and… Read more
there is no contract or direct debiting.
The staff are hit and miss. Most of the staff at the counter are pretty incompetent and I've had quite a few terrible encounters leaving me thinking "this is what you get for the price you pay". However there is one lady who works in the memberships department who is extremely professional and knowledgable about the gym's products and services and she turned my opinion of the gym right around. The instructors in the classes are very good too and that is more important than the staff at the counter who can be quite lazy and rude (the consultant was supposed to give us a tour of the place but he didn't bother and so I had no idea where to go when I came in for my first class. The scoopon was also supposed to entitle us to 3x PT sessions but no one bothered to follow that up - lucky I just wanted to do classes and didn't care about PT).
The gym facitilies leave a bit to be desired.. old and smelly and the toilets in the locker rooms are always gross. You have to bring your own lock for the lockers too. But you get what you pay for, and the lockers themselves are clean and that's all I use their locker room for. They just installed mirrors to their class room so I guess they are slowly making improvements. It gets quite hot in the room (they have aircon but it's not the strongest, and the fans aren't always working) and there are pillars in the way and the carpet is a bit old. Classes after working hours can get quite packed so make sure you get the class starts. Though it's good this gym doesn't mind if you are slightly late, some gyms don't let you into a class if you are even 1 min late.
Due to the convenient location and cheap price, I'll be continuing to go here as I've definitely noticed an improvement in my fitness, tone and strength since gymming regularly. Cheap, convenient location, classes Run down facilities, staff are incompetent
Avoid This Gym At All Costs! – the staff, oh the staff, the woman in charge of customer service is the worst and a perfect example of what customer service shouldn't be, she will chase you up the stairs if you don't have a towel and demand that you go downstairs and pay for one, i was accosted by her for not checking in to the gym one time upon arrival, she chased me down(yes… Read more
running) and started yelling at the top of her voice that if i did not check in immediately i would be kicked out of the gym, she was causing a scene and everyone was staring, i felt like i was on a hidden camera show, unbelievable! she even became aggressive and blocked my pathway into the gym until i checked in. Needless to say after having been a member for over 2 years i was quick to cancel my membership and switch gyms, words can't even begin to describe the unprofessionalism that goes on here, in addition the personal trainers/reception staff are rude and condescending, their equipment is debilitated outdated and dirty, their contracts are dodgy, and as mentioned by most on here, air conditioning is non-existant (fans don't suffice at 5pm, peak hour, when the gym is crowded). It truly is the worst service i have ever encountered anywhere. The excessive number of memberships(due to the close proximity to the cbd and affordability) has made them arrogant and they have thrown customer service out of the door and forgot that they are running a business. Having moved to another city, i visited perth last month and was relieved to discover that Snap fitness (also a 24 hour/affordable gym) had opened right across the street from them. Competition! I smiled and thought to myself *Karma is a [censored word removed] :-) steer clear of CBD HS.. Inexpensive Rude, unprofessional staff, poor management, bad contracts, outdated equipment/facilities(locker rooms are shocking), lack of air conditioning, hostile environment, smelly, poor location, no parking facilities/discounts, dirty equipment(the mats!!!!)
Terrible! – I went to this gym back in October as I had purchased a scoopon voucher wich offered 2 months free, I expressed to the consultant a number of times I did not want to sign up. I was told I had to provide my credit card number even if I wasn't signing a 12 month contract. 6 months later I received a letter from a debt collector saying I owe $1008.00… Read more
for an apparent contract a staff member at Cbd health spa had fraudulently signed me up for. After many calls and emails to the manager [name removed] -who I will add was extremely rude and unhelpful- my debt was reduced but I was still forced to pay $159 cancellation fee and an additional $50 for 'other' fees and charges. This is a terrible company and I do not recommend anyone going to it. It should be shut down and the management is beyond appalling!
Rude staff, terrible management
Horrible and unprofessional – The gym is dirty, has limited (functional) equipment and the staff are unprofessional and rude. After canceling my membership I was told I owed several hundred dollars and that debt collectors would be on to my case unless I paid. Do not join this gym! Staff, cleanliness, equipment and atmosphere.
Terrible – Must have taken on too many memberships, staff struggle to keep personal training appointment times. After the reception staff told me I had successfully cancelled my membership, 6 months later I received an invoice for cancellation fees totalling $528. [name censored] advised me if I did not pay the amount she would send the bill to a debt… Read more
collector and if I didn't pay it my credit rating would be effected. She was rude and showed no compassion. Did not believe that reception staff would have made such an error. I am currently taking legal action. Sign the contract with caution. location rude staff
Value Gym – What really prompted me to join this gym is the availability of the group classes. There are lots of classes that are free to all members so at $15 - $17 per week it's a really good deal (also 2 weeks free trial and / or group deals e.g. $30 for 2 months membership). The place is a crowded and all the equipment is crowded together to cater for… Read more
all the people and therefore it's bit dingy and smelly, but given that I just want to go a gym to gym and not have to look good like some other gyms this suits me fine.
The staff are friendly enough and the changerooms are reasonably clean.
Being open 24/7 is an added bonus though I've never really been there in the middle of the night, it's still an option. Cheap; good value; varierty of group lessons; 24/7 Smelly; crowded; no air conditioning
Awesome Boot camp – I’ve been attending BootCamp with CBD for over a year now. The difference in my fitness, energy levels and ability to tackle new training challenges is HUGE! Dion, Alex and Dave always know when to push us that little bit further, and still keep the session fun fun, great staff, challenging
Excellent – After a string of injuries as a result of involvement in field hockey and cricket, I needed some motivation and guidance to reach a fitness level that I was accustomed too. I was a bit skeptical at first on the benefits of personal training but changed my mind very quickly when after the first session I walked out with my butt dragging on the… Read more

Excellent – I train with CBD 4 times a week. Every session is different, so that training is never monotonous. The Trainer's energy and enthusiasm are amazing. They have been a real motivation, continually pushing me to my limit-something which I would not do on my own. Although I have only been training with them for a few months, my general fitness and… Read more
