Crap hot water system. Have to boil kettle all the time. Don’t buy and check with builder when building. When you turn off hot water tap and 5sec later you turn it back on it stays cold. Rubbish. Show details
Follow-up · We first noticed the issue probably 4/6 months after moving in to our new home. Basically the hot water system just stopped working altogether. Of course it was under warranty and was replaced but honestly these systems are not worth the frustration. The builder said oh we’ve never had an issue before. Well if the builder had one installed at… Read more
Not worth the headache – Unit can only put out 48 deg C couple that with heat loss from pipes in house temperature at outlets can be well below the allowable maximum of 50 deg C. Show details
Had it installed about 14 years ago , great unit – I had this put in 14 years ago in tandem with 2 solar panels , I just can’t fault it ,it did have a minor hiccup 2 weeks after it was installed ,Chromagen sent someone out , simply pulled out a small circuit board and slid another in ( under warranty ) and it been going great guns ever since ,,,the small solar booster pump failed after 10 years,… Read more
but that was nothing to do with the gas heater except make it work harder….. I called a plumber out to replace the booster pump quoted me $1000 .he told me it was better to buy another new system as Chromagen was a rubbish brand and quoted me $3000 for a new system……. I bought the pump myself online for $200 . And a sacrificial anode for $90 from Chromagen fitted it myself ,it’s not rocket science .. 4 years later everything still working A-OK…….I THINK A GOOD PRODUCT . I would not trust a plumber ever
Unreliable – Hot water in my shower is acceptable, with an ok temperature (without need the need to use the cold tap) - although to be honest I like it hotter. But no hot water in my kitchen or laundry. Not happy. Have to boil the kettle to wash dishes. I bought this house recently so the unit is well and truly out of warranty, and I’ll be replacing it soon with a better quality unit. Show details
Planned obsolescence. From a parts availability perspective, I give them a zero ! – Well, just tried to buy a controller for the heater (i.e. the plug in module that allows you to dial down the temperature, so you don't get scalded). Its called an MC100 in Australia. Seems that no one has one, and even the local distributor for Chromagen in Australia no longer sells them. Contacted Chromagen in Israel and they just ignored my… Read more
requests as to where I could buy one. Its planned obsolesce. Wait a few years, then stop supplying parts, so that one has to buy a totally new gas/water heater. Not only that, the replacement heater is called the Eternity 'plus' 26 implying that someone it is similar to the previous model, but its totally different inside, so the connecting pipes no longer even line up, major modification to gas and water pipework required. Big dollars !! So now I do have an issue.
Water goes cold syddenly – The water goes cold suddenly and have to close it for few minutes, I can't adjust the temperature, extremely bad unit, never get this unit and save yourself if you plan to buy it. Show details
Excellent service! – Excellent service. I have Chromagen Eternity Plus 26L Continuous Flow Hot Water Heater - Natural Gas system installed by builder 4 years back. Recently we were having an issue where when tap is turned on, it gave hot water but turned cold within seconds. Contacted a few local plumbers who took call-out fee and reached to the decision that flow… Read more
sensor is gone without even opening the front lid of the heater and it will cost $1000 bucks to replace. Their recommendation was to get a new system for which they gave quotations ranging from $2400 to $4000. I than called chromagen to discuss the issue. The customer service I received on phone was very pleasant and patiently answered all my queries. Since my unit is out of 3 years warranty period, they charged a $209 service fee, but took their time to diagnose the real issue. Turned out, it only required the replacement of the flame rod which cost and additional $20. Overall, extremely satisfied with the service and have learned my lesson to call company directly instead of calling any XYZ plumbing services.
Update: Aug 2024 Water heater is working without any issues so far.
Do not buy they brake down and they don't honour there warranty – Hot then cold water you have turn off hot and on againe to have hot water Show details
Useless product – This unit is useless it's temp is not consistent and now we get not hot water the many says it could be the water flow sensor but we don't know Chromegen don't have any reps in NT so was told too bad from Chromgen we can't help you. These are sold by bunnings so do not go there I have been trying to get this part for 3 weeks and still no diagrams or image of the sensor from Chromegen crap service all round. Show details
Building a new home – Hi! We are building a 5 bedroom double storey home and planning to install, 2 Infinity 26, one each for ground & first floor. Wondering if anybody can provide specifications required to install specifically in relation to the type of regulator, gas pipe size, water pipe size and anything else that we need to keep in mind to have this to the unit run efficiently Thanks Val
Really bad. Driving the whole family crazy – The system was installed when we built new house six years ago,Was sort of ok for first year. No, after many services we decide to chance. It is impossible to get hot water from any two taps in the house. Have to worn everyone when planning to have a shower, as flashing the toilet will cause exposure to cold shower for three minutes. Avoid this system as much as possible. Show details
Woeful products and the after sale service is just as woeful! – My Chromagen Midea m26-40 continuous flow water heater has had a suspected faulty fan from new. I reported this and it took them over 4 weeks to attend site and not fix the problem. Neighbours have complained about the noise of this unit. Now the unit keeps getting an e01 error and again I'm having trouble getting them to arrange someone to fix my… Read more
unit even though it's under warranty. I find it unacceptable that its been well over a week and Chromagen have not even assessed the unit. Would not recommend the unit or the company at all. If I could give them 0 stars that would still be too generous!
Chromagen T26 – After 13 years our Chromagen 26 (new build install) has stopped delivering hot water. It's supposed to fire up with about 3-5L of water per minute - well under the 9L per minute required for water efficiency - but it doesn't. Plumber removed the water limiters in the taps (you can do this yourself) and no problem. However it just stopped working… Read more
yesterday so Chromagen coming again today - it's out of warranty now. Apparently 10 years for "water heater" warranty. I was going to replace if needed but nervous about going Chromagen again given getting about 2.5 stars in reviews. Love the Rinnai brand - it's always been good for us elsewhere - but it seems everyone is having trouble with continuous gas with water limiters - not enough volume. So you either have hot water OR water efficiency.

Never waste My money again – First installed 18 months ago. Good for 6 months then water kept getting cold . Cleaned the filter lasted a week . Every time someone wants a shower You have to go turn the power off and on to get it to restart. Never again. Show details
This Water Heater is Diabolical – Why is my M26 so terrible? I took handover of my new home in September 2019 and almost straight away I started having problems with the hot water boiler, firstly it takes ages to get hot wasting litres and litres of water, then when it gets hot it's lovely and hot and then all of a sudden it goes cold, and the only way to get hot water again is to… Read more
turn off, leave it off for a few seconds then turn back on. This can happen 3 times during my shower, I'm stood there with my hair covered in shampoo with the cold water coming through, it also happens frequently when I run the kitchen sink to wash the dishes, this is totally unacceptable for a brand new boiler. It's like living back in the olden days. I contacted my builder who in turn contacted the only service agent in WA, they sent a plumber who had me turn my taps on whilst he did some tests, he said everything was fine. But surprise surprise!!! It's still happening, this time I contacted the service agent myself who promised to call me, the plumber called me instead over 10 days ago, still no progress!! So I contacted Chromagen directly and told them my thoughts on their diabolical hot water heater, they allegedly have sent a priority works order to the same service agent 4 days ago and I'm still waiting. This surely cannot be right? I think since September (8 months) I have been very patient, but my patience are wearing very thin now. I have had countless different hot water systems in the numerous properties where I've lived but I have never ever had a system so bad as this M26 hot water heater. I am coming to the end of my tether and I really do need advice on what I can do next.
Chromagen Eternity are indestructible – I have had a Eternity 20 for about 10 years, one day it became "temperamental". I read all the BAD reviews and concluded that there was nothing intyrinsically wrong with the hot water system, the fault must be I thought, with the water supply. I live off tank water, so, removed my pump, flushed it out, flushed the water pipes and washed out a… Read more
small filter in the water intake of the system. Guys : PROBLEM SOLVED. Not only do I have hot water, I actually have an increased flow of water, hot and cold in my home now! Men and women: all it takes is some lateral thinking and some iniciative, no money, no spares, no plumber and for those who have spent money on spares, sorry, in my humble opinion you had some one needing to make a living above really solving the problem. I am categorically of the oppinion that these HS are almost indestructible, mine has been fitted out in the open sun and rain for more than 10 years and is faded and sunburnt but once you take the cover off, inside it is "as new". I hesitate not to buy the same brand again. P.S. Tools required: one multigrip pliers to loosen PVC conections and one screwdriver to remove lid and inspect inside ( this was in fact just to satisfy my curiosity).
Had it for 10 years – Ive had the unit for 10 years now and installed 2 remotes for convenience still going strong hasn't failed touch wood thou im not sure if this has made a difference to the life span but the unit is under cover and out of the sun and rain Show details
Intermittent hot water – Have had this until for only 7 years. Started off getting hot water only intermittently. Now very rarely are we able to get hot water. I wish companies would make products to last. I could purchase one of two parts for approx. $160 but I'm not giving this company any more money. I'll replace it with a trusty Rinnai. Show details
Really bad machine – My house built by Metricon and I moved in for a month. In this month, it is hard to have a good hot water supply in my house. The unit will work when himself is happy. I can't have any hot water when the unit not happy. Chromagen came to check a few time and couldn't find out any problem. They refuse to replace the new unit to me. They always said… Read more
is the water pressure problem but we had the third party to check and confirm no issue of water pressure. Finally, they replace the new unit to me a month later. After a few days, the new unit has the same problem again.
Reserved Judgement – The builder had this installed 18 months ago, it has been performing faultlessly during that time, the water flow sensor failed (jammed) the service tech arrived within an hour of service call and replaced the sensor. It lit off straight away, during my shower just 20 minutes later the unit flamed out and went cold after just 5 minutes. The unit… Read more
remains unserviceable for the next few days because no additional parts are at hand.(has to be ordered in) I will review this product again in 3 months to make a determination whether the unit is junk or not.
Edit: It turns out the cause of failure is contamination by very fine sand of the water supply, It is a widespread issue within the estateand will take some days to rectify. Therefore my review of this product is withdrawn.
Stopped Working 6 Months In – Builder supplied T26 has stopped working 6 months after handover from Metricon, in the middle of winter!! The unit does not activate when only one tap is turned on, so we have had to turn on 2 taps on full hot water for the unit to be triggered, and sometimes even that doesn't work. Builders should stop supplying this brand if it is causing so… Read more
much grief to customers.
Edit: Updated rating because Chromagen rang to say that it is the actual taps that are restricting water flow that is the problem, and not an issue with the water heater unit. Waiting to see if the builder will offer a fix to the blocked/restricted taps.
Have read the negative reviews on the previous model....so far performs as it should – Yes, I have read the negative reviews on the previous model "Eternity T2X". There are plenty of good reviews elsewhere. Current model is Eternity Plus M2X (mine is M26)....so far performs as expected and does a great job. Only time will tell if the unit is well made. I note it is made in China. Old gas storage unit sprang a leak, so I needed a… Read more
quick replacement - I picked it up from Bunnings while the plumber was on the way and the job was done. Kids had a hot bath that night. I will change here if I don't get a good run from it.

9 months in and it's been leaking the whole time – Great when it works but a piece of rubbish. Builder put it in, repairman took the cover off and was showered in water......nine months in. Replaced the same day at least. Cheap Israeli made crap. Do yourself a favor and buy a Rinnai, that always worked well for us prior Show details
2 replacement boards in 5 years and now number 3 – My builder's plumber installed an Eternity 26 in late 2013. Since then the unit has failed twice (it would not deliver water at 55C and 26l/min and the controller constantly displayed a flashing error message) which required replacement of the computer board in the unit. It has now happened a third time and I expect the plumber to advise once again that this problem is not covered by the unit warranty.
Beware Of Chromagen Products – Very disappointed with this system. ETERNITY T20 barely got 2 years out of it. Builders put it in (probably because cheap) Parts only 12 mths warranty, pump 3 yrs and cylinder 5 yrs. Called the company and they were quite good in handling my request. They sent request to outside repair service quite quickly. However, this repairer, without going… Read more
out to see the unit said they get requests from their products all the time and that it is a really bad unit that's why they don't give much warranty and that i would just be better off getting a whole new unit. They said that the company says they're busy and give out to independent repairers only because they are busy with 'new builds' and not really interested in chasing up repair issues. won't be covered. Best to get a unit with long warranty, this usually means they will last. Called Chromagen back to inform of this and they didn't seem too surprised. Apologised and that's about all the lady could give me. Next step. ACCC
Won't buy again ....hope supplier can fix simply design issue – The product is using cheap plastic flow sensor. The sensor lasts only about 2 years. Sensor will slow down and as such it may get less hot and will stop working on single tap. It needs about 5L/m to start. Please design better sensor with 2L/min start like Rheem 27. This sensor is making it useless product. Otherwise it is OK product.
