Cigweld Transmig 255i MIG/STICK/TIG 3 in 1 Welder

This thing packs a real punch when you need it, but isn't too big to dial right back down for the small stuff – Have several other Cigweld units - Weldskill 135 MIG, Weldskill 185 MIG/TIG/Stick and a Weldskill 200 AC/DC TIG. Wanted a larger MIG (more amps / duty cycle) than my Weldskill 185 for heavier fabrication in 5mm to 10mm mild steel, and also something that would get me into the bottom end of spray. Settled on the Transmig 255i as can run up to… Read more · 1
30V, where as my current Weldskill 185 will only do 25V max. This seemed like the best option for me (still single phase 15A and an inverter so it's still light/mobile) - really packs a punch when you need it, so very happy so far. Haven't investigated the upgrade to the 25A plug/lead input lead to get the duty cycle up from 20% to 40%, but great to have this as an option if needed.
I didn't really like the push on Tweco nozzle it came with, found it moved everytime you bumped it, so swappped over to a screw on type which was quick/easy/cheap and now it works great. The torch body itself is good otherwise. The only other small downside is mine only came with a 3m torch lead which is pretty short and I really wish it had a 4m long one which would give you a lot more versatility in moving around the job you're welding, particularly for the bigger work sections you're typically doing with a big grunty welder like this. Ironically the earth lead it comes with is comes with is 4m, strange that they don't also supply it with a 4m torch lead to match. I'll have to look at upgrading the lead from 3m to 4m when I get a chance.
Apart from those two minor downsides this is an awesome unit and I'm proud to own another Cigweld product. Haven't tried out the lift TIG on this machine yet, but assume it works well on mild steel - it certainly does the job on my Weldskill 185. Final small note is when I've needed some more specialised spare parts for some of my other Cigweld machines, the Cigweld team (I think in Melbourne) have been very knowledgeable and happy to help out in getting me what I needed quickly and at a very reasonable price - not sure if that support is available from other manufacturers. Keep up the good work.
Not worth the extra $ for the brand name – Purchased as a replacement for my 20+ year old transmig 195. The old machine still welds smoother than the new inverter machine. The cooling fan is really loud & runs for ages even if you’ve only done one tack, annoys the crap out of me. Don’t like the tweco gun, the shroud pushes on too far & the tip is exposed. Have swapped to the old binzel.… Read more
Don’t bother using the setting chart inside the machine, it’s out by a mile. Also noticed it’s made in China, have to wonder If I would have been any worse of with an eBay welder for $1000 less?
compact and high performance – this unit ideal for portability without trolley and great with trolley for inside use with gas cyl attached. spool gun attachment handy for extra reach.6mtr is ideal length for most jobs. the optional trolley is really sturdy with a couple of cool drawers Show reply
Great Machine – Heaps of grunt for doing heavy fab. I only use it for MIG and Arc. Can chuck it in the ute when I need it on site. Comes on 15Amp plug, but needs a 25Amp plug to get all the Amps out of the machine. Tweco torch is OK - nozzle moves if you bump it. Show reply
What a work horse – Great machine, easy to use has the flexibility to run 15kg spools aswell as 4.5kg spools.what i like the most was it has the ability to run a spool gun as i plan on doing some Ali welding in the future. Great product. Show reply
Great machine – Great machine. Works as advertised. Bought from WESS welding supplies in Wingfield, South Australia. Great advice and after sales service, make sure you speak to Warren. Makes my poor welding skills look better than they are. Show reply
Great brand! – Quality brand, quality machine, easy to use and the powepacks really help aswell. I highly recommend this product and am glad I decided to upgrade to a good machine, definitely worth the money! Show reply
Average machine – First thing I had to do was upgrade the earth and hand piece cause they are only rated for 200amp max, then worked well but blew the power supply and main board after 3.5 years and cost more to fix than a new one and out if warranty. So not good value for the price. Always a battle with power supply when using around to 200 amp range, even with 15… Read more
amp supply, struggles on generators and on long leads on site, just get error codes. Ended up getting 3 phase 350 amp mig, no power problems, and not a cig weld
CIG’s best welder – This welder would be one of CIG’s best welders, Mig, Stick and Tig, all in one welder great amps for good strong welding, great for Pro’s and home use welders. Love it. 15amp power required. Show reply
