Coles Finest Matured Christmas Pudding

In a Word: Horrible! – It's all in the packaging! Coles Christmas Festive Matured Pudding glossy cardboard sleeve shows an impressive old style Christmas pudding, resplendent with mouth-watering garnishes. It looks to measure 6 inches high and states on the label "SERVES 6-8", looks delicious "WITH JUICY VINE FRUITS AND A HINT OF BRANDY AND CIDER". But in reality the contents of the oversized tub look nothing like what is depicted on the glossy cardboard sleeve, as can be seen on the attached photos. After separating (with difficulty so as to not get scolded) the hot sticky contents from the plastic container after microwaving, the dark brown blob that lands on the plate measures no more that 4 inches high and when trying to divide into portions with a knife, collapses. The only way to serve this hot sticky mess is with a spoon. Providing you are still not dissuaded, upon eating this dark brown mess, your tastebuds are assaulted by the overpowering taste of sickly sweet burnt molasses, added no doubt to conceal the lack of "JUICY VINE FRUITS". The U.K. makers of this mush must laugh hysterically each time a ship-load leaves port for Australia and is testament to Coles' quality control, although it may be a ploy to encourage customers to buy their more expensive range of $38 - $88 "hand-made" Christmas puddings next year. Looking forward to the upcoming senate inquiry. Just don't buy this "product".
Purchased in for $7.50.
Don't waste your $12 on this pudding! – From the minute I pulled the plastic coating off I knew I'd be disappointed. Didn't even come half way up the container. Got it out & at the highest point it measured 2 inches but came in a 4.5inch high container. If you don't love breaking your teeth on large, hard chunks of peel & that's pretty much it then don't bother. No way it would serve 6 to 8 more like 4, IF you can stomach the amount of peel in it. So annoyed I wasted my money. Wish I could submit photos. Avoid Coles matured Christmas puddings, you can do better for the same amount of money.
Best ever tasted – I purchased two puddings from Coles. Matured and normal. We had the matured on Sunday and it was absolutely falvoursom and delicious. Well done Coles. We will have the other st Easter.
Sad Christmas Pudding – The fruit is dry, like dried fruit straight out of the packet seemed as though it had not been soaked. There is too much fruit and the dryness of the fruit makes it fall apart when cut. The general texture was dry and the taste was lacking. I didn't have to make it Dry and tasteless
